Release Overseer (3 Viewers) 04/27/2026

GoldenFrog

Since the latest iteration of Overseer, I go to use the "Claim Overseer Quest Rewards" button and it will claim 1 reward and then stop. I have had this happen with both Quests that are expired and claimable and Quests that haven't expired yet (still running). Either way it just stops claiming even if there are other quests to claim. I find I have to go through all the quests that are there to find expired ones and claim those manually.

Hope that helps some, I am sorry that DBG keeps doing this crap to you and all the good creators here. But don't feel too bad, my xml files still haven't been updated yet for the new patch either.

Not sure which of your fixes did it but I was able to run it on 7 toons today with no hang-ups (something that hasn't happened for a while!) - thank you!

Just an FYI. I had 3 toons that were heroic 100, not sure if it was a coincidence or not, but only these three toons gave me an issue where the 3/3 active quest was missing from the ui and they would not select any quests. After deleting the toons files from the Everquest folder it fixed it. Nothing relevant to the conversation but just for future reference.

If the 3/3 isn't there, it had previously indicated your UI isn't updated and will cause problems.

However I'm curious about deleting the toons fixing it. That's interesting. Glad it's corrected, but... definitely bizarre

All using the default UI. Just a clarification, I deleted the files for the toon in the EQ folder, not the actual toons. lol

Hi,

Seems the old overseer quit working for me. Would collect rewards but not start new tasks. Looks like it has been switched to a Lua program. I checked watch and overseer appears on the Lua page of the Launcher. I tried "/Lua run overseer" and get the error "That is not a valid command. Please use /help." This is probably due to the fact I have never used Lua before and maybe there is something else I need to do to active Lua? I searched around this site and googled Lua but did not find anything that helped me. Anyone have any ideas. Thanks, AnotherJohn

Yeah, the switchover to the Lua came some time ago but I'd thought the macro may still be working.

I'm not at system to check but you may need to run "/plugin mq2lua" to load that module. Though I'd consider that odd - expecting it to be preloaded.

Then try "/Lua run overseer" again.

Thanks GF,

I didnt see the command to launch Lua anywhere I looked and would not have guessed it was a plugin. I will try this next time I am on. Thanks you :)

I haven't upgraded in a long time but did today, when on the Settings>Quests tab, if I select "Unsubscribed"

I get this error

Actually haven't looked at or ran Priority groups in a long while. The intent is if you want a global config for all characters, but Silver accounts act differently than Gold.

It turned out to be such a specific thing that I don't believe anyone ever used it.

So my first suggestion is to not use "Unsubscribed" and just use "Default" - to start with.

Separately, I'll look into this error - thank you for reporting that.

whats weird is that "unsubscribed" tab only shows on 2 of my 10, even though they are all silver right now. I don't actually use it I was just trying to figure out why my last mission for the special this month wasn't getting ran.

Thanks for looking into it.

The existence of that group will be due to (I believe) back when you migrated from MACro to Lua (it was done automatically). Only some may have had it; I'm in the same boat, only some do.

Originally you could "Add" and "Remove" groups, etc...

Most likely I'll just hide and leave 'Default' for now unless someone yells out that they've been using this feature all along - but I'm not expecting that.

Three crashes on three different toons this morning. Restarting the Lua finished clean on them all. Here's the stack traces if they help.

Script errors should be posted in the appropriate thread for the script

morning folks.. I downloaded the most recent VV live release from the wee hours this morning.. I'm seeing my Overseer blow up again upon starting it. This is right after logging into my clients, no other automation running other than the default MQ stuff that loads..

Same error on custom UI Sparxx, Zliz or the default EQ UI for added info =)

Attempting to run Overseer. Errors...be happening.

@GoldenFrog

TLDR ImGui update with MQ, things got a little tighter, quite a few scripts out there have been showing issues like this

overseerui.Lua, line 179... Looks like a missing pop (changed the 1 to a 2). This fixes my issues.

I've heard you are super busy my dude. Hope this helps. Cheers.

Making this public so anyone else who can't even imagine doing overseer without this addon (like me) has it.
if (InProcess) then
ImGui.PushStyleColor(ImGuiCol.Text, 0.999, 0.999, 0.999, 1)
ImGui.PushStyleColor(ImGuiCol.Button, 0.690, 0.100, 0.100, 1)
uiutils.add_button(icons.MD_PAN_TOOL, overseer.AbortCurrentProcess, 'Cancel Full Cycle')

ImGui.PopStyleColor(2)
else
uiutils.add_action_button(icons.MD_PLAY_CIRCLE_FILLED, 'FullCycle',
'Runs the full/classic Overseer cycle')
end
Thanks @Algar !!! Nice to have this back. I know GF is very busy these days so I'm sure this was much appreciated!

Close, but there is another error now. It seems to be consistent with recruiting.

Oh, I haven't recruited yet. I'll take a look today. This one should be easier (the stack trace line should point to the exact line).

Good morning, everyone. Haven't been in Norrath since the expansion went live.

Thanks @Algar. I'll try to pop on today and test your update and publish it for everyone.

ah good to hear from ya GF.

I was gonna fix this up for ya.

I'll get an update out just so folks have something, feel free to delete and adjust when you go to look at it

@Algar @Psy did some updates based on things ya'll pointed out. if you see more just post here and i'll take a look at them until GF is back around

@Sic the update you made corrects the issue in my test.

@Darkwynd3 was that a one-time error or is it happening every time? I'm not seeing that or a "why" yet.

the second error is because .Selected is returning nil in mq2rewards

After the 3.78 update I am having the following:
-Note- Repeatable even after logging all the way out and back in. I have several other toons that have no issue. Only 1 with this issue.

Changing line overseer\overseer.Lua line 1139 to:
mq.delay(1000, function() return (not mq.TLO.Rewards.Reward(reward_index).Option(option_index).Item(item_index).Selected) or mq.TLO.Rewards.Reward(reward_index).Option(option_index).Item(item_index).Selected() ~= nil end)
Seemed to solve the issue for me.

That doesn't actually fix the problem, it may resolve the crash, but it just can kicks, you can actually just ~= nil instead of the or and then repeat.

@brainiac might be interested in giving more info/context here, but there are a few problems that came to light looking at this today.

Brain helped me go through some stuff for about 5 hours today (which I appreciate his time, because despite what some folks might think, I still have an incredible amount to learn.
