I have purchased MQ2Eskay, MQ2Berzerker, MQ2Rogue and MQ2Cleric now and absolutely LOVE them all. As long as they are all inside same group, that is.
My intention is to have Zerker and Rogue OUTSIDE the group though. Basically running 8 toons while farming gear and such.

They will not work for me outside group. I can have group running strong and then de-group one or both of them and they go limp and stop assisting at all.

What am I missing?

Solution
Out of group assisting is not built in - there are in-plugin methods around it, like using a tank mode, and getting aggro (mob on your xtarget inside your camp), but it is not a thing that these combat suites support directly.

With CTWN plug-ins you can use manual mode and run kissassist for the targeting and such. It seems to help if I put the MT on the ETW, but I can’t explain why. PFM, clearly.

just know doing this is not recommended and unsupported. you can and will end up with conflicting behavior doing this.

for the cwtn toons to do something like that, you can use a healer with xtarget healing turned on and configured, and then someone (either that healer, or someone else in group) set...
You are missing nothing sadly. Out of group support hasn't been implemented as I haven't found a way to handle this gracefully at this time.

You can try running a raid, but if you're like others then you don't want to raid the toons up together. In which case this is one of the very few instances that I will recommend running the characters out of grp with a macro such as KA to engage. You would need to run them with a blank INI, but in the [Melee] section set UseMQ2Melee=0 and save the INI before running.

there is currently no built in out-of-group assisting built in - its on the short-list of things we want to add.

you would need to use a macro to help you assist from outside - like using a blank kissassist in mode 0 with usemq2melee=0 (keep in mind this is unsupported and not recommended as you can get into conflicting behaviors)

So if I setup something to get the assist done from outside group, the MQ2Rogue and MQ2erzerker will kickin and run with all their awesomeness? Or are you saying that outside group, those two plugins are simply useless to me?

we currently do not have a way to say "hey assist this guy who is not in our group or raid" but manual mode, once given a target and attack is turned on, does the normal stuff you would expect

Awesome! I can work with that. :)

You can also use a second toon grouped with the one using MQ2Rogue or MQ2Berzerker to assist. Run kissassist on the 2nd toon (I just happen to use a mage for this), Mark that toon the grouo MA, and then toons running the plugins will assist that MA. Otherwise, you have to do what others have said and run the toons using the plugins in manual mode and run a blank kissassist for targeting and stuff.

I set the rogue or berserker to manual mode, set up KA for only assist with mq2melee off. Works great, or just group with another that is set as assist and they will assist them (mage on KA in my case).

i haven't tried it out yet but i think you may want give MQ2XAssist a try

When I have the time to sit down and work on out of group assisting I will. But I'm not likely to use XAssist having already looked at the code for it, it appears to always use slot 1. A lot of the XTarget code in my plugins are dynamic, in that it doesn't matter what slot something is in, we can tell the difference in something assigned as specific target and they are a PC, which is used to determine if we should XTarget heal for example. We would want it to detect any specific target and it's an NPC which is what would trigger assisting. But I also don't broadcast anything using EQBC/Dannet at this time, so that would be adding two additional requirements to all of the plugins.

When I sort out a way to gracefully assist out of group, it will be done and rolled out to the masses.

I have read a couple of threads regarding this subject, but still can't find a solution. I am trying to run a pure dps group and I have my tank/healer in another group. I want the DPS group to assist the Tank that is out of group and I don't know how to do this. I'm thinking there is probably a way via EQBC or maybe just running a blank KA INI to assist? I think raid mode only works if in raid if I'm not mistaken. Any info would be greatly appreciated and thanks for the time!

As far as I know, CWTN plugins do not have direct support for this. I know of two ways to do it:

1. Set one of the DPS to MA in the DPS group. On the toon that is MA in dps group, have something outside of the CWTN plugin (such as MQ2React) detect when tank is fighting in camp, and engage. Maybe setting the MA toon to pullertank, and having same pull and camp radius could work?

2. Use kissassist (or some other combat assistant that supports assisting someone not in group) on the DPS group MA. Typically, for me, this has been the bard in the DPS group.

This drove me nuts for awhile, too. So, yeah, have all your CWTN toons that you want assisting the out of group tank set to manual. Then use the following KA macro on each of them, targeting the out of group tank. This works for me so far on CWTN SK, zerk, and rogue. Haven't tried it with other classes yet. Good luck!

we do not have out of group assisting built in.

Hmmm...xtar is out of group...also...why not just create a raid? That's what I do ... just pop into a raid instance and your second group will assist the first.
I'm not sure why you're quoting me.

the ask is to be able to designate someone not in your group/raid that you assist - and there isn't a way to do that.

you can, as mentioned here and in several of the threads, use a macro or some other means to call for assist and/or get mobs on xtarget which then you can use designated modes like tank mode, to then attack the mob that is in your camp and on xtarget.

but as mentioned, at this time, there is no means to designate an out-of-group person as the person you would like to assist

I think an easy way to do this would be to just make an assist hotkey. Make one toon your MA in the dps group and make the hotkey using bct to tell that toon to //assist tankname.

Before I went to a 6 man crew I used to just make bct commands that told specific toons what to do so I imagine this would work fine. Yes is it a click every time but since you are NOT fighting while afk it shouldn't be an issue.

Yes, but I run 4 groups worth of toons and when I’m leveling up new ones, I have quite a few not in a group at all, and only so many hot bars. Lol

That’s why isaid use xtarheal, then set the ones outside your group on your target bar on a cleric that will heal them. Then save thatbtarget list. I have CWTN clerics that babysit all the groups i pwlvl, pretty hard for anything to kill your team with a 110 cleric standing next to it

You only need one hotkey. /bcaa //assist charname. I don't see why that wouldn't work but I will test it out and see.

OK tested and it does not work so ignore that.

Best I have been able to do is (and I have 2 groups) is have someone who is not running CWTN plugins in the 2nd group. Have that toon run Kiss and assisting your MT in group 1. Then all the rest in group 2 will assist the KISS toon in group 2. It works but I also wish there was a way to assist out of group. Can't have it all so /shrug. Make do.

I use a /bct command to order out of group toons to attack my target.

It would be nice if all bot plugins and macros supported basic commands such as /killthis <mob ID>

Hi all

I am 2 group killing DN, both in tank and assist mode. I use bard to pull mob back and my G1 tank auto engage, but my G2 tank won't do anything and even not aggro. How can I make them engage incoming mob together??

you didn't mentioned what automation you're using, nor post in the respective section that might indicate as such.

I know you do use cwtn plugins - there is no built-in out of group assisting, if you want to be in a raid you can turn on raid mode and assign your designated raid assist.

With CTWN plug-ins you can use manual mode and run kissassist for the targeting and such. It seems to help if I put the MT on the ETW, but I can’t explain why. PFM, clearly.

just know doing this is not recommended and unsupported. you can and will end up with conflicting behavior doing this.

for the cwtn toons to do something like that, you can use a healer with xtarget healing turned on and configured, and then someone (either that healer, or someone else in group) set in tank mode, when the healer heals and gets the mob on xtarget, the tank would then start attacking.

but using an entire, conflicting, macro suite to do that is going to lead to issues and it is impossible to support.

some folks use the newer > OutAssist Lua < - again, not supported or recommended.

some folks use > Chase.lua <

some folks use > assist macro < which shouldn't have any conflicting stuff. you would just have your out-of-group toons run this while in manual mode
instructions are inside the macro. it could be improved by being able to pass a param, but it isn't my resource
INI:
|Auto assists your group's Main Assist.
|Delete "${Group.MainAssist.Name}" and replace with characters
|name for out of group assist.

there are a few specific reasons why we *dont* already have it built in, for which we don't have a good solution for.

things like mq2XAssist are buggy and some folks report many issues with them - which is why we don't recommend using that

using a full automation suite that potentially can cause issues that would be hard to diagnose is why we don't recommend/suggest the blank kiss ini thing. can a blank kiss ini with usemq2melee=0 work? sure, can and will you potentially have conflicting behavior, yes. - which is why we don't recommend or suggest going that route.

the previously mentioned heal/tank thing is fine way to make it work, I've used that in the times that i've wanted some out-of-group additions.

For Out Of Group Healing - just add characters to your xtarget window and turn on xtargethealing
For Out Of Group Buffing - just add characters to your xtarget window and turn on xtargetbuffing

the raidmode and setting raidassist is also a nice way to achieve what you want, assuming you're not trying to cheese xp to 1 group or whatnot

Solution
Using CWTN plugins, as Sic said, best way is to set your group 2 healer to heal group 1 tank (using Xtarget), and have that healer set as group 2's MA/MT, and let the rest assist off them.

Another method is either pause CWTN, or what i do is set the bard (any KA char) as group 2 MA, then do /mac KA12 (my kiss command) using group 1 MA as my KA target. group 1 MA engages, group 2 MA says "hey, im assisting that char, attack!!", and then the rest of group 2 says "hey our MA is attacking, we need to help (if they are on CWTN, KA, MA, RGmerc's, doesnt matter, they are assisting there MA)".

yup, that would definitely work, because it isn't a cwtn toon assist out-of-group, it is cwtn toons assisting their group main assist which is getting a target by another method.

to reiterate (not directed to you durango 🌮 man)
we understand the desire for out-of-group assisting, it isn't something we've just bitten our thumbs at =p

Hi Sic
Finally I managed to push my 12 toons with another 3 chars of my friend to clear that DN locked dragon.... all I need to do is activate raid mode and assign MA....lol

This is really bad, i am addicted to add more toons to my team.......
