Hello all,

I built a 12-box group on Rizlona and my first raid attempt (Lady Vox) went... poorly to say the least. My best attempt was 30% and most attempts were around 80%. I'm wiping because:
  • The tank gets feared even once -> Cleric summoned -> Dead -> etc
  • The raid DPS eventually dies from AoE (Shaman runs OOM spot healing)
The warrior resists most of the fears, but the fight takes so long (due to the DPS getting feared/dying) that it's guaranteed he'll get feared once and a cleric will die.

My current lineup (all planes-geared level 60):

Group 1:
Warrior (MT)
Cleric
Shaman
Bard
Enchanter
Monk

Group 2:
Shadow Knight
Cleric
Ranger
Rogue
Bard
Mage

Besides waiting for an expansion where 9/10 raid mobs don't AoE fear, does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to improve? Add/remove classes, macros, strategies?

Thanks

I think your overall group dps might just be too low, but here are a few things to try.

1. Hide bard behind wall with clerics. Bard dps is fairly low atm so I get more value having him behind the wall so he never gets feared and tank always has resist song on.

2. Use bards to charm giants. This will up your dps some. KA actually does okay at charming if you set your mez spell to Solon’s Bewitching Bravura.

3. Don’t underestimate sk dps. Make sure to pop unholy and spam taps. Also will help cleric mana on longer fight if he tanks first. Once he’s oom, feign and let war defensive tank.

4. You are using fearless right? With war and sk that’s 2 full mins where tank won’t get feared.

Thanks for the pointers - very helpful.

1. I'll try leaving the MT Bard hidden as well. Are you playing fire/cold resists as well or just magic?

2. Do the AoE dispells break charm? The enchanter is basically useless other than a few mana taps, I might try this when I get a better handle on the fight.

3. Interesting idea. I'll play aggro with my aggro script and see what I can do.

4. I was running Fearless on warrior. It expired long before fight was up and I usually switched to defensive afterwards. I was considering running Resistant instead of Defensive.

Another suggestion I got was to position the tank near/around a wall where he doesn't get hit by AoE and use an AoN/jboots spam to hold aggro. I found there was a certain spot where a mage pet wasn't getting hit as well.

Apparently dragons actually need to be in LOS of a tank to use their AoEs which seems like a good mechanic to work around.

Elemental rhythms is cold and magic. Use a good drum.

I haven’t played around with it much but you can position pets in a way that they hit through the wall and don’t get hit by ae

/melee aggro=0 on war to start fight if you want to use sk to tank at start, then just /twist 1 or whatever gem your tap is on.

I’ve heard you can wall vox with insta click for aggro, not sure if it still works. They nerfed a lot of the clicky aggro recently

You're correct about walling vox/naggy (this is something I just learned). You can use AoN/jboots/whatever spam to hold aggro while it hits you and as long as you can't see the mob but it can hit you (indoors) it won't use any of its AoE abilities.

The most important part is making sure the tank keeps aggro and stays within dragon hit box, else he gets summoned and AoEs go off. Of course this strategy only works on indoor encounters, so OW Faydedar is well out of my reach still.
