• Hail, we're RedGuides. We want you to play six (yes, 6!) EverQuest characters at once. We have scripts and a friendly community to help, please join our playstyle and say hello! 👋
  • We've added LLM sections to our Terms & Rules and Resource Rules, for everyone's sanity & in-game safety.
    a. Do not replace your voice with an LLM. This goes for your posts and your scripts. Drafting and editing with a tool is fine, but don't take you out of what you share.
    b. Do not replace your EQ character's voice with an LLM. We don't want scripts that speak over /ooc, /shout or other public channels. This has been an unwritten rule that's kept casino scripts off the site for decades, but we're now compelled to make it clear: keep automated communication private.

    Why Does RG Review Scripts?
Nearly every LLM-written Lua script we see is making your character do impossible things, and rarely in a way that's beneficial to you. We've seen heavy server hammering, /target over impossible distances when /nav spawn would passively accomplish the same thing, a spawn search that fires 20+ times per second, and other pointless actions that are likely annoying GMs.

You are welcome to use LLMs as a tool to structure, draft, and edit your work, but please read critically before hitting /lua run

Request - Necro Pet Tank

I noticed that mages have a pet tank role they are able to use. Would it be possible to get this role implemented for necros as well?

The mage pet tank role is largely deprecated, unfortunately, and I have no current plans to add this to any other default.

You'll have to add this yourself to a custom config if you desire. I wouldn't even begin to know what abilities you would want there, yet alone playtest it.

It mostly would be just for farming stuff that is a little too inefficient to face tank. Think CT 2.0 @ lvl 65.

It would make it far more efficient to let the pet take a good portion of the damage and the only real load out to change is have the pet heal loaded and use Mend Companion if the the pet gets below 20% HP. At higher levels we get a few more AA that could be used in an emergency.

If you are not interested or have the time would there at least be interest in accepting changes upstream if I got this role fully implemented and tested.

I play a necro and have my pet as the tank. It works well with a bunch of dots and fear. As the mob runs my pet continues to beat the crap out of it.

This doesn't sound like you need an extra role at all.

Adding the option to mem/use the pet heal is already a thing on the emu configs, as are things like mend companion etc.

If that was the blueprint, I'd be happy to accept the PR.

Oh interesting, I will take a look at the emu configs and play around. Thank you.
