Problem - nav buttons are blank

So I am following along the videos, getting it all going. I am the part where they are teaching nav. Only one problem, the buttons that are supposed to say follow me, come to me and mimic me, well in game they are there but there is no hotkey assigned, just a blank 3 squares. Do I need to createmy own hotkeys for this> the video seems like they should have appeared? And if so what type of command to I put in for each button?
