MQ2Posse

Release MQ2Posse

Posse is still setting ZRadius to 30 by default.
Also noticed it crashes EQGame if you typo one of the Posse TLOs ${Posse.strangers} instead of ${Posse.Strangers} for example

Lots of good info here, thanks.

If i want to use a drunkard's stein to evac a tank, would it be:

/item <stein> or /casting <stein>

And, for a caster to use AA gate, I'm putting:

/posse cmdadd /casting gate, and it is failing to parse.

Thanks.

I *think* it's /useitem <stein>

And for the AA, it might be easier to use /alt activate ### (where "###" is the number for gate... I don't know what it is... can do an /aa list or something in eq to find out).

the useitem did it, thanks. I also had to include quotes like:

/posse cmdadd "useitem Drunkard's Stein"

I notice this doesn't fire when one of my other toons approaches, even though he isn't on the friends list and is not in the same guild. I assume it knows to ignore characters connected to EQBC?

Yes, I made it so that it assumes anyone connected to your eqbc server is your friend.

Redbot updated MQ2Posse with a new update entry:

updated for dannet & more by plure

White listed people in your group and those connected to mq2dannet

Added the TLO: ${Posse.FriendNames} (completely unnecessary, but symmetry and such)

Made it so if someone went from being a stranger to friend or friend to stranger it would recognized this (This mainly is an issue when first logging in, it doesn't recognize your connected to MQ2DanNet or MQ2EQBC because you are in the zone before are able to connected to either of those plugin's)
Added the ability to ignore people in your...

I'm trying to get everyone to quit kissassist, run up to my wizard, then get him to exodus. I have this in the ini for my wizard (using mq2dannet):

0=/dgga /end <-Get whole group to /end macro
1=/dgge /nav id ${Me.ID} <-Get the 5 other group members to huddle
2=/alt act 43 <-Cast exodus
3=/gmail "I have evacced. someone is near" <-Send a Gmail

The only issue I have is that the puller may be away from camp, I want a 5 second delay between step 2 and step 3 to give him time to get back before evaccing. Can someone help with the syntax? Is it just a /pause 50 I need in there somewhere?

If anyone has any issues with mq2posse let me know.

Hi there, returning after some time and fired up about 8 toons up and noticed on one of them, mq2posse wasn't reporting anyone nearby even though a PC was right on top of me. I had to unload the plugin, reload it, and set the zradius again before it started firing.

Howdy
Is it possible to fire Posse manually? I whould like to test and finetune the commands at the spot im grinding and bringing a level 1 is kinda hard.

So then don’t use a lvl 1. Drop a lvl 115 from your guild (assuming you can reinvite when you’re done). Or make a lvl 85 heroic (we all should have a bunch from freebies over the years).

Can someone please tell me which file I need to edit to change some of the settings in MQ2Posse and what program do I need to do the editing???? Thank you in advance for responding.

Read the overview - the commands to change settings are there. You need to execute /posse save to save changes to the .ini.

You could probably edit the .ini directly if you want, in which case any text editor would work.

When I try to open an .ini file with Notepad++ I get a page full of NULL NULL NULL everywhere.

maybe you opened the dll, they cannot be changed
You need to execute /posse save to save changes to the .ini. (sometimes the ini arent created until you do this)

Last question for the day. Don't want to be a burden on anyone. When I down load a macro ...it goes in the Macro folder. When I download plugin that is not in VV, do I put that in the Macros folder as well. Like MQ2Autoforage doesn't say it is part of VV. So what should I do with those extracted files.

You put the .dll file in your \Release folder. However, the real answer is that you should be using the launcher to download and update anything that isn't already included in VV. If you go to the resource page and click the "watch" button for the plugin you want, the launcher will have an entry that you can use to update and install it, completely bypassing the need to download and manually extract files. If you are trying to download MQ2 plugins from other sites that RG doesn't use, that's probably not the best idea.

Once in game, these things need to be configured. MQ2Posse, for example, has a set of commands to do configuration from within the game. No editing ini files in notepad.

And just to note, MQ2autoforage *is* an included plugin.

Thank you and all those nice enough to help an old man out. I started playing when I turned 56. My son gave it to me for my Birthday. At the time I called it EverCrack and told my son you are going to turn into that Paladin or the Ranger you are continuously running all over the place. Hell, I didn't ever know what Mana was ...I would here the people on TeamSpeak yelling, "I need to med the Cleric, he is out of Mana". I said what is Mana why does that dude need it. Then the adventure began and here I am playing 15 years later and I am still in love with this game. Thanks again. I was/am still wondering if the plugin, NORMALLY, stay in a separate folder of their own or is that something random in the configuration of VV? Oh...why the blue text ....I would never do that for any reason. My loyalties lie with Red Guides forever.

I guess you do not have the file extensions showing in Windows?

  1. Click the View tab in File Explorer
    Click View and click Options
  2. Click the box next to File name extensions to see file extensions

That is correct! I only do it when I need to diagnose any issues with my system. Since I just built this rig, I hope I do not have any problems in the near future. Thanks again for you assistance.

yeah, since the ini files often are named the same as the dll, its kinda good to have the extension showing.

From a cyber security standpoint, you should always show file extensions. It’s not hard to make a malicious exe look like a xlsx.

One thing about RG, great community. So ask your questions. I myself have asked many questions, some which seem dumb today but where not dumb when I asked them. As I tell my kid, I’ll stop learning when I’m dead.

Is there a way to have this run a command when a stranger enters the radius, and then run a different command when the stranger exits the radius?

Between mq2posse and mq2paranoid yes there is a way. I need to dig up my configs but in one of the two there are "triggers" I have it set to add the target to my xtarget window. Then to begin auto firing and my group begin assisting me all specifically for pvp.

In the Posse ini file

[charname_Commands]
0=/target char
1=/xtarget add
2=/autofire
3=/target char
4=/xtarget add
5=/autofire
6=/target char
7=/xtarget add
8=/autofire
9=/bcaa //assist MA

I haven't yet found a way for it to iterate through multiple players and add them. That's what I was trying there but it just adds the same target 3 times to xtarget window. What would be really cool is the ability to parse a file or list of hostile characters once posse is triggered so that it will do the xtarget add and autofire/attack with the whole group. You just add the name of players who attack you to the list so when they get close they get a can of whoop ass opened on them. Similar to what's already here but /target variablelistofnames so that if any on the list are identified it takes action.

Be careful with this though. I've had weird stuff happen where my group will begin attacking my group. Still working out the kinks.

I have set the posse up but im having issues figuring out this command /posse cmdadd. For instance, I would want on all toons for it to do an /mac end. or potentially cast a druid port to POK. I am not sure how this command would look. My second question is will this command be executed by every member of my team and do I need to do all the posse commands on each character or is just 1 Toon enough?

Thanks

/posse cmdadd "/mac end"
/posse cmdadd "/alt act 43" - for druid/wiz only, or /cast # where your evac spell is
/posse cmdadd "/cast #" - for druid/wiz only, where the number is the spell slot for your port to PoK
/posse save

Only saves on the character you run the command from. If you are using EQBCS or DanNet, you could broadcast the command and save yourself some typing.
I'm assuming your characters are grouped. Syntax changes if you want everyone on the server (regardless of group status) to run the commands.

EQBCS:
/bcga //posse cmdadd "/mac end"
/bcga //posse save

DanNet
/dgga /posse cmdadd "/mac end"
/dgga /posse save

*edit: gave command for evac when port to PoK was asked for. Updated to include port

I've had a few instances (including today) where posse doesn't execute the command I've added. I had six toons in a group, and when someone came within range, four executed the command and two did not. Before I started the group hunting, I unloaded and then reloaded the posse plugin just to be very sure it was running on all toons.

Has anyone else seen similar behaviour? Any suggestions on what might be wrong? It's probably a dumb observation, but it usually happens in monk characters ...

I've noticed it many times with Mq2posse that it stops detecting people at all.. so I noticed it's usually based on how long its up, so I actually started unloading it and reloading it.
I use to test it with
/echo ${Posse.Strangers}
when I new someone was in range, it would say 0.. reload it and it would then start reporting again.

Thanks! I'll give that a try.

Is there some sort of cache or something that MQ2Posse keeps? I now have a group of 6 where Posse only triggers on one character. All six characters have identical entries in MQ2Posse.ini, and Posse was definitely loaded on all six characters. It almost seems to me like there is a cached version that is being read somehow ....

Can I use the MQ2posse plugin to stop my MQ2war plugin if someone zones into where I am? And would it look like this?
/Cmdadd MQ2war stop
