Question - MQ2 Windows Going Black

After a while I notice that my text goes away in my MQ2 windows. I loose a line or so at a time until all I see is blackness in the windows. The toons keep on keeping on but I can't check settings or see any errors or anything. I am not seeing any lag on my pc so it doesn't act like a memory problem. Camping and coming back real quick restores the text. I am running the fps plugin but I didn't notice a difference. It happens regardless of what plugin or mac I am using or even if all I have loaded is stuff for followme to work. This can happen in as little as 15 min, maybe less sometimes. I normally keep the windows minimized unless I want to type a command. Commands still work when I type them but I get no confirmation once all the lines proof. Resizing the window doesn't fix it, only camping. If I try and reload mq2 at least 1 toon always crashes so I just camp and come back. Maybe they are related?

Any chance you're hitting the max visible text for EQ? Like if you have the map open (wide view so its printing a lot of NPC names) and a bunch of larger text boxes open, you can hit the max limit for text characters EQ will show. This can cause the "no text" in other windows, but wouldn't affect actual performance.

Never heard of that. My EQ windows all have text.

Happens to me sometimes
removing the npc from map with /mapfilter NPC
and the text comes back
Is that a command? I will try anything as it happens to all 6 toons every time I log in.

If you want to see it in action have multiple text windows, go to Lceanium with NPCs, Ground Spawns and PCs on and open the window and watch text just disappear.

Does the text return if you close the map on that screen? I've also found you can just zoom the map in around your toons and that will reduce the amount of text you're using.

There are a bunch of map filter options for which text to show. "/mapfilter" will show you some options in the MQ2 window. I turn ground spawns off by default and just turn them back on if I'm looking for one.

I was looking at MQ2map the other day. I wanted to get the "range" from the bottom right of the map to determine how far out to draw the labels so it was only drawing labels you could see. However I was unable to access the range and thus left it as it was.

Playing around with /mapfilter npc. So far nothing but I'll wait a while. I did notice both ber running mq2berzerker have only 2 lines of text left. IHCShm has 20 left. IHCBrd has none left. IHCClr has all lines left. IHCWar has most left.

Well in this case, closing the map window would free up all the things that are being drawn to screen by the map and should immediately return the text to any other areas of EQ and that would confirm the issue is with the map. If you close it and you don't get the text back to the window then perhaps reloading MQ2 is needed. you can "/unload" which will unload MQ2 from whatever instance of EQ you issue the command on. Then you can reload MQ2 by right clicking the tray icon and choosing "Reload MQ2"

I get this too - and it is random when it happens. All the windows text will black out - even chat windows, etc - usually one window at a time - and it will also black out merchants and stuff too. If I relog in that usually fixes it.

I always get at least one character that crashes when I do a reload so I avoid that at all cost.

How do you fix this?
Close out anything that you do not need to see; map, some of your bags, etc. The more you close, the more text you free up. If this happens to me, it is usually because I have open my map, all my bags and I am at the bank etc. Closing the map and a few bags usually fixes it.

I have nothing opened on my screen and as soon as I do /mqchat reset the window goes black
