Problem - MQ2 closing repeatedly

Hey guys,

Just did a fresh install of Windows, MQ2, EverQuest, basically wiped the computer clean.

I've got things up and running, had a couple issues to sort out, and now MQ2 is randomly closing on me. The icon leaves the taskbar, I have to open the launcher again and re-launch it, seems to happen randomly but very often. So I can't really get all my toons loaded in.

There are no error messages or anything, it just closes. Would anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks so much.

EDIT: All of my plugins are also not loaded, including things like Dannet, the chat window, EQBC, etc. I had a billion plugins before I migrated comps, I'm not really sure what all to load and how to keep it loaded. Any help would be awesome there as well.

You mention MQ2 but MQ2 was deprecated and now only MQ persists. Are you running RedGuides VeryVanilla or are you running your own build? Are you trying to run on Live, Test, Emu, or TLP server?

I'm on Live, I am running VeryVanilla. I copied literally everything from my MQ2next folder on my old PC into the MQ2next folder on the new PC, now I'm struggling to get things set back up how they were. Toons are not auto-joining the EQBC server (I know Dannet is better I'm working on switching), plugins are unloaded, MQ is crashing, it's a lot for me to try to sort out with very little tech proficiency. I also can't load in more than a few toons without the PC crashing, which was never an issue before.

I would check:

- AV not file locking stuff
- Things like eqbc is allowed on your network (you'll need to allow the obfuscated exe)
- Mq is allowed on windows (you'll need the obfuscated exe to be allowed)
- Compat layers

Need to check if windows added something to your compat layer?
Check these locations in your registry for anything eq/mq related and delete.
```
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
```

Thank you Sic, I'll see if I can do some of this.
