Unfortunately. I set the Mez section. The bard claims to Mez, but it most certainly does not. It begins the Mez song and immediately cancels within a fraction of a second. It then announces to the group that the non-mezzed mob is mezzed.
Basically the title. I have a 76 bard. It's set to be the puller for my group. The actual pulling works great. Pulls with Bellow as instructed, comes back to camp. Rarely any issues with that. However, when it pulls more than 1 mob, it will come back to the group, wait for MA to get aggro on one, then begin to sign my Mez song. It will immediately interrupt that song before it even has a chance to land (or not) and then it will announce that it successfully mezzed while the mob beats the shit out of my group.

This problem started when I got Amber's Last Lullaby as my new Mez song. Everything was working perfectly until then. The only thing I changed was that song. Now it's totally messed up. I deleted my INI, recreated it, rebooted my computer. I've tried everything I can think of but nothing has worked. I even switched it back to my lower Mez song, and it no longer works.

Given that I have tried several steps unsuccessfully I'm wondering if there are suggested troubleshooting steps that I should take? I'm pretty new to this. I only started playing EQ and using MQ a couple weeks ago. I've read all of the KissAssist documentation and searched through forum posts, but I couldn't find anything related to this specific issue.

It's frustrating because when I first started...from level 1-50, the bard would not mez at all. Then, I read some more documentation and finally got it working and she would mez perfectly from level 51-75. Now, at level 76, all I did was change the song name and it broke everything.
 
Although it should work just fine with it set to 0, Maybe try setting casting interrupts to something like 6 and see if it acts different.

there is a note in the kissassist wiki about advanced options:

"You can now determine the interrupt(s) you want checked. Using 1 in the INI file turns on all Interrupts by defaulting CastingInterruptOn=62.
Each Interrupt check has been given a value:
Buffs = 2, Heals = 4, DPS = 8, Mez = 16 and Cures = 32
By doing this you are now able to control any of the interrupts you want turned on.
To turn on more than one interrupt simply add the values together.

Example:
To Interrupt Mezzing(16) and DPS(8) set CastingInterruptOn=24 To Interrupt Buffing(2) and Heals(4) set CastingInterruptOn=6 To Interrupt Just Mezzing(16) set CastingInterruptOn=16"

or maybe the dps kick mash call is causing it? maybe try |99 instead of |mash?
 
I'm not sure what did it, but I did wipe out my DPS section and I let MQ2Melee handle kick now. I deleted my INI files for that character, restarted the game, loaded KA, and then edited my INI back to mostly the same. It's working now. Wondering if the kick mash was the problem...but I've had that in there forever...
 
I spoke too soon. As soon as I switched it back to Amber's Last Lullaby, it broke again. There is something odd about this particular mez song. Has anyone else gotten Mez to work using this song?

It is a wind instrument, compared to singing...does your character have appropriate wind skills? Do you have an armor piece with a wind skill modifier on it?
 
OMFG, the one skill I suck at. I bet that's it because I just downgraded to Queen Eletyl's Screech and it works perfectly. I will level up wind and see if that fixes it. Holy hell. I'm also on Drinal which, I think, is just a boring normal server.
 
I felt this in my core. I have 3 bards for.... reasons..... and every time I forget to be on /role or /anon one of the big guilds on the server will have a recruiter sending me a tell. I finally had to just set every toon to /role just to stop the tells.
Why is that? I put all of my chars in /anon after that post, but I kind of assumed that all the guilds on my server would be good at this point. I played a bard from launch through OoW when I quit, and I was very busy, but coming back after so long I kind of expected there to not be a shortage of them since they are, as I'm sure you are aware, the best class by far.

to /anon is sus, to /role is sus, to not do anything is sus - it all depends on who is looking for sus.

please let's not turn this into a baspend thread.

All the big guilds are recruiting bards - on my server anyway. And then they sometimes try to recruit my SK. Or other random class lol. Aye. No more derailing of a thread. Sorry.
 
I wanted to update this thread and mark the main issue as solved:
The bard was lying about mez because I was using a Wind Instrument based mez and my skill sucked. Using a Singing mez worked perfectly. Later on, I raised my skill in Wind and the Wind Instrument mez worked perfectly.

My only wish is that if mez fails, the character does not report that it succeeded in DanNet or whatever channel.
