MERC GEAR IS PET USABLE NOW!!!!!!!!! Aug 17 2017!

A friend just told me about this today, I tried it and it's true, My pet accepts MERC GEAR!!!!! I put it on him and his HP go down! He doesn't give it back etc. so will be super amazing to create even more powerful pets for a time. Too bad mercs don't have more gear/slots but oh well 4 pieces of gear with 5000 hp etc. makes the Assassin etc. extra gear worth looting now! Please Red Cent me if you like this tip!

CotF tradeskill gear might still be better though? The merc gear has high heroics and hp, but isn't the ac what matters on pets more than hp/heroics? Don't know much about how pets work, but I thought i remember reading ac worked differently on pets/mercs vs player characters. Which is why they scaled back ac values on pets/mercs before TDS release iirr. I could be completely misremembering it though.

Oh I just found out a few days ago, I bought up a bunch of assassin merc gear just to try it out. Cheers! I don't know how pets work or their AC etc. or if heroics really affect them but 5k hp per piece of gear is nice at least for 4 pieces, the rest u can craft earrings and armor for him. Yeah you can actually put 2 earrings on the pet.

this is really cool you can use merc gear for pets but parses show verry slight increase for using this gear on a pet if at all .... basically its a trash can for the gear sorry if this ruin's it for some..

I would take best in slot pieces with highest attack and ac values to equip on pet, wouldn't look to much into the heroics or hp values unless you are fighting in a zone with a lot of ae spells from trash. If that's the case then probably the merc gear might be better because of the raw hp. But I don't play a pet class, so I'd check with someone that knows how to equip a pet properly.

I use Dimensional Warrior gear and make crafted weapons also. I use the Knight 1 Handers with rune if my pet is tanking otherwise I use melee dps weapons if I am after pure DPS.

Oh nice, I totally didn't think about using that weapon on my mage when using earth pet. Was using the Brightedge for the proc dmg. Does the enhanced dmg of the axe work on pet, that would make it better then Brightedge in terms of dps, or is there a set cap on dmg from weapons for pets?

TBH I never paid attention just the fact I seen the rune on my pet while tanking. I just like the extra hp from the weapons to help mitigate the ae damage on raids so it is easier to keep a pet alive say on a raid like Queen in EoK.

Also a good thing to know is if you are a class that gets Rogue pets using daggers with a backstab mod it does indeed increase the damage of backstabs from your pet just like a PC rogue.
