Question - Maybe a weird question: What do you guys do when playing with others? (1 Viewer)

I've come and gone from EQ quite a few times. I am always way behind the curve when I return, and of course this community helps get me back up to speed fairly quickly with group stuff.

So onto the question: Do you guys continue to use MQ in group environments or raids for that matter where you are playing 100% live with others?

I have zero doubt that I would NOT pilot most of my characters as well as the various macros running them today. I have to think I'm not the only one.

Would like to be able to play somewhat competently, and don't mind using tools at all to do so as long as it wouldn't be super obvious to everyone around me.

Thanks!

Exp groups with other people - yes, for kissassist to automate one or two boxes while I'm manually controlling the main toon. My friends and some of the guildmates that I group with know and we leave it at that. I enjoy grouping and playing manually with live players and only box/KA out of necessity if grouped with them.

Raids not really - except where I feel like just using it for mapfilters and distance meters. I don't play automated on raids at all (this also means mqmelee and auto rez accept features are off). It's off most of the time because I like to snap and share screenshots in discord. I've also jumped on the twitch bandwagon. For these reasons, I usually force unload it before raids so I don't accidentally broadcast to the entire internet world that MQ is on my screen.

Otherwise, if I'm antisocial (which is half the time), I box by myself with MQ up on all my toons :)

I guess I need to work on piloting my toons manually. At least KA gives me an idea of what I should be doing. There's just so dang many spells, discs, AA abilities, clickies etc. that I find that somewhat daunting these days.

I use Mq2 pretty much in every setting. I do not hide the fact that I use it if people have questions I'll gladly answer them. I am though always at my pc when I'm playing or within arms reach. I've never had issues really as long as I wasn't afk or rmting. If you do either one of them you're bound to get in trouble at some point.

Always use it, will never play EQ again without it, in any setting. On patch days, I don't even bother with EQ until VV is patched.

XP groups with friends: Usually consists of however many friends want in on the group and then I box the rest of the slots. All my characters continue to run their automation (KA/afnuke/mq2heals/cwtn). Even my "main" that I drive has automation running for fights. I might pause macro to pull and whatnot, but I let the automation play the tedious button clicking, combat side of the game.

Raids: I play with 2 raid groups. The first I box 2 chars. One is a full automated healer. The other I drive for most things but let the automation do the fighting and spells usage. The second raid group I play with has been struggling with turnout, so I bring my full 6 box team and run full auto.

Those I consider friends, know I'm running macroquest. There was some surprise when I finally let it slip that I was, indeed, automating with more than just fancy socials and isboxer. Mostly due to misinformation as to what MQ2 actually does as well as misinformation regarding DPG's stance on it's use. Some thought any account would get insta-banned just logging into the game with MQ2 loaded. Others thought MQ2 could do outrageous things like insta-kill raid mobs or make your melee weapons crit for 10 Mill dmg every hit. Others that have seen me box on raids mostly have some idea that I'm doing *something* and others have no clue or don't know the characters are boxed to begin with.

But yeah, short answer: nearly full usage anywhere and everywhere.

I always unload MQ2 for raids and play manually.

For grouping I'll leave it enabled but frequently will have /mqp on and run my characters using existing ISBoxer hotkeys. I'm sure people have their suspicions but I don't do anything to confirm them. However I'll frequently leave the cleric on full auto but that would be the only one. Otherwise I can /mqp off and let a character throw buffs and then go back to manual mode. It's funny, people are so used to their healer mercs just running all the time I don't think they notice that it's a real cleric casting all the time in my group! :)

I swap my DPS out for folks in my guild. I've told a few select people, but mostly I just do my thing and they're happy to be in group as best I can tell. I typically run things with others once on 'farm' so the people coming with me get loot and such.

TLDR: I tell a few select people, otherwise I say I Isobox.

I group with others regularly - used isboxer for a very long time, and was open about it - since moving to MQ2 no-one has noticed any difference, at least, no questions have been raised.

But then the only melee I run when I group with others is my tank, which I drive anyway, rest are casters.... automated melee dps is easy to spot imo

Infact our raid officers will ask u if u plan to box a raid if u use third party programs if u say no u can't box...

I've been playing with 2 other people off and on that don't use mq2. They know I use it and have no issues with it. However, I have run into the problem where I end up using KA instead of my purchased MQ2Cleric since MQ2Cleric doesn't buff those other players. Anyone know how if I can get MQ2Cleric to buff other players when grouped even though they're not using CWTNBuffs (of MQ2 at all)? Currently, I'm setting up a KA file that works ok but I feel like I'm not utilizing an awesome macro I paid for enough and, as we level, they're constantly having to wait for me to update my spells and files.

nope, currently cwtn plugins will need to be able to have the characters local so they can have the mq2cwtnbuffs information available since we check their buffs, and block buffs, etc

Thank you for your reply, Sic. My next thing to try was going to be loading MQ2Cleric and kissassist. I was thinking if I ran kissassist in manual mode with the /buffson command, it could handle the buffs while MQ2Cleric handles everything else. Do you think that would work?

Kinda hijacked the thread here, but that's ok. What's "manual mode" for KA?
