When I right click an item, like a Diamond as example, Kiss lets me know the value is worth 200pp, but when I sell to the vendors I get 190pp. Is there a way to get the 'full' value worth or am I missing something? Feels like I am missing out on a whole lot of plat. anyways thanks for advice.

Hi McGoo, I recall way back when.....that was the case..but I'm guessing those days are long past as armor and items give us super charisma compared to back in Kunark days. I was hoping someone would know if I need to do something, as when I sell junk vendor stuff... the 10 to 20 plat difference adds up to thousands of plat. :(
thanks for the post my friend.

I found this:
Finding a Merchant`s Best Price

Q: How do I get a merchant to sell me an item at its best price?

For most merchants, you need indifferent faction and 104 charisma. This is to say that 1) at any given charisma, a merchant will give you the same price at indifferent, amiable, kind or warm faction (but worse at apprehensive), and 2) if your faction is at least indifferent, you will stop getting better prices beyond 104 charisma.

Now I said most merchants up there. The first statement is always true, but I've observed two exceptions to the second. First, the merchants in your guild in your hometown only require 93 charisma. Second, there are a handful of merchants who require MUCH higher than 104 charisma. These are usually the merchants near banks and at entrances to cities. Examples are: Tubal at the Qeynos gate, Boomba the Big at the WFP gate, Aimee at the NFP bank, Merchant U-something (the dufrenite merchant) outside the Kelethin bank. Don't buy or sell from them if you can avoid it. At 170+ charisma and indifferent-to-warm faction, I still can't get them to give me best prices.

Q: How can I tell if a merchant is buying or selling an item at its best price?

Check how much the merchant offers you for a peridot (Everyone carries a stack of peridots for their clerics and chanters right?). If you're offered 9.524pp for it, you've succeeded. You won't be able to buy for less or sell for more. If you're offered less than 9.524pp, you can do better with higher charisma. Now it doesn't have to be a peridot. Any item will do as long as you know its best price. I happen to know what the best price is for a peridot.

One character I have is like 750 charisma right now, and I'm sure thats low compared to many better geared characters.

Hi Eqmule, thank you for your reply, let me ask another question as I'm unsure about your answer. Thanks for mentioning about the column 7 price, My UI (Savok's Vert) shows it on one computer and I had not even paid attention that was ever showing me that info, and my other comp must be a older UI version that does not display it, so I was puzzled for a bit where to look, ha. So my question is there no way to get the 'max' price shown in Item info area from Kiss? or do you mean the column 7 info is best price I can get period. I get 238 for Blue Diamonds, but KISS tells me they are worth 250plat. Just wondering if I can get more.

There is no way to get the maximum amount as shown by kiss, the Max shown by the item window eqmule is the calcuated max amount you'll get faction/charisma aside.

The 250pp is like a base amount for vendors to work off of for buying/selling prices I think

Merchants in general do not give you full price, as they require some sort of profit. This is IRL economy, as well, in most cases.
They give you approximately 90% of the price.

Aside from that, I always shot for 110 CHA + amiable for maximum possible values. Your mileage may vary.

The find item window shows u exactly the max price a vendor will pay for the item if you are in good standing with the vendor.

You guys are confusing item value with vendor value.
Item value has always been correct. It’s what the item is worth in the dbg database.
Merchants wants to make a profit, the will never pay the full amount we know as “item value”...
If there is a need for a vendor value tlo i can add that unless it already exist.

On some items, the Value TLO was wildly different from what the vendor would give you. Also, in the past there was a value on items that the vendor wouldn't buy at all. I'm not sure if either of those are still true, but it made it so (to me) there was no practical use for the Value TLO. However, your point is taken that it's different from Vendor value and I should have phrased the question differently:

Does that mean we have a TLO that will show the Vendor's max price now? (The assumption being that the find window just accesses a TLO rather than finding the value directly).

Not sure if there is a tlo for it, i calc it on the fly in find item window from item value and merchant greed which is like 1.05

I'll have to find my notes. There were several items I had that didn't come out correctly (even though the majority did) when I was doing that. I kept a list so I could refer to it, but I have no idea what I did with that list. I'd be interested to know if those are still wrong or if they've since been corrected.

Thanks for the info, though.

Thanks to everyone for discussing this, helps to demystify some of the inner code of eq.
