Map issues - Reproducible crash.

Unsure if this related to MQ2Map or MQ2 compile. I haven't installed any other map tools other than the default.

When I open my map from time to time I will see a green dot with my character name above it, the dot seems to be random in its placement in the zone, sometimes even outside of the normal playable area. Green dots indicate a player corpse on my machine (Not sure if that is default). This dot shows up even if I have no corpse or haven't died in the zone. I can crash the EQ instance by clicking on it in an attempt to target it.

Is this a known bug? I'm at work but can upload the crash logs when I get home if that helps.

This happened to me at least once too now that you mention it.

The workaround is easy. Don't click on corpse looking items you know shouldn't be there. But alas, I can't resist and I've crashed myself 3 times doing it.. I facepalm every time I do it as well. :)

I'll crash a few more times and attach the logs if it helps.

"Hey Doc. It hurts when I do this" said the grimacing Orc Dork as he pokes himself in the eye....
Doc Genome Gnome replies with a look of disgust, "Then don't that!"

Jilazee you are great. Honest straight forward and open. Letting others learn from your mishaps is a true gift.
<chuckle> ha...workaround, huh, huh.... <snicker>
Thanks,

What can I say, I hope someone else learns from my fails. :)

But more serious note. I don't think this is something that falls into the "working as intended" category. It's a weird one, that is avoidable (if you can just resist clicking), but might one day be the cause of further issues. I actually had it happen today while targeting myself on the map. It's reproducible and causes crashes so worth throwing out there.

Sometimes the client crashes on just opening the map. I don't know, but the problems are probably related. Of course, if you manage to open the map without crashing you can keep it open and try not clicking on that lousy dot... Argh, need.. To.. Resist..

The bug is however a pretty bad one and needs to be looked at for sure.

I hope EQmule doesn't mind me sharing the email he sent. I received this last night.

With regards to the zoning crashes.
"Thanks for sending the dumps I have fixed this crash and a new zip has been released.
/eqmule :) \o/

Regarding the map issues.
"Please update to latest zip when redguides updates and check if this crash still happens and let me know/send me the dump. I updated 2 other map related crashes but not sure if that fixed this one as well.

/eqmule :) \o/"

Looks like it's being addressed. I'm guessing we just wait on the updates and test for the guys. Loving the speed of work.

I'm crashing every 6th or so time I open the map. Only thing that has changed is the recent update.
