Tip - Looking for suggestions on my 3rd and 4th character

So originally, I was just going to add a 3rd, but now that I've spent a week with the program, I think I'll go ahead and do a fourth, but I'm looking for suggestions. I also need to make a final decision on my 3rd. I'm mostly a casual player, which is why I'm boxing to begin with. The reason I'm only doing 3 or 4 as opposed to 6 is because I like to leave a couple of spots open for guild members and frankly, I don't want to pay for expansions, level 100 boost, and monthly on that many characters. ( As a casual, I don't want to spend time PLing characters from level 1. I would prefer to just dump them into my group and get going.)

So here is my lineup as of right now. The first two are already leveled well, geared well and are set in stone. Looking for thoughts on 3 and 4.

  1. 121 BeastLord - For sure (probably going to buy MQ2BST).
  2. 117 Bard - For sure (will be in MQ2merc mode).
  3. Boosted: 100 Pal or Sk - Boosted tank, will be my driver and main as I move forward. (I will buy the MQ2Pal or MQ2Easkay). I have experience with SK ( level 112 but on the same account as BST). Never Played a Pally at this level and stage.
  4. Boosted: Cleric? Zerker for DPS and just use 121 BST cleric merc? Mage or Necro? - (Whatever this 4th slot is, it will be in MQ2Merc mode).

As for Tank, I would prefer the SK slightly. For the casual group game, I would advise against cleric - get that J5 merc in, it does not kill you most of the time. Mage is always a safe bet, as wel as Necro if you want to do more named stuff. Can also consider Wizzy - but from a pure "oh you came looking for my group, nothing suspicious happening here!" vibe, I would try to get casters who can do a rotation on incoming, bard on melody, tank happily slaying and merc cleric on heals.

SK is mostly likely what I'll do based on experience and everyones suggestions. Would adding a SHM be overkill tho with already having the BST? Or could the SHM act well as a back up healer if the 121 J5 Merc messes up? Can the SHM add some decent DPS? Or would I be better served with a robe caster in that last slot?

My go to group is SK/SHM/BRD/BST/2xMelee. I do sub in robed toons but not so much since the new xpac came(they have been left behind at 120). As far as using mercs, I couldn't imagine one meeting the needs for me but I could be wrong. It's just too easy to grab a few more FTP accounts and have real toons rolling along with your group. The new T1 gear will easily get you through the content.

I like this idea of SK/SHM/BRD/BST. What I might do, is use 2 x mercs, one being the cleric merc, the other being the rogue. With the intent tho, to fill those two slots with any guildy who might need a group. So in your experience, the SHM has no trouble keeping up the heals?

None what's so ever post 100.

How would you handle the early stages of leveling from 100-120 on the two new characters? I could do EoK, BST and Bard will melt through that stuff until SK/SHM are 110 and then move to ToV. The other option is to just do LI all the way. (This is how I went from 115-120 on BST). I would prefer to avoid having to run around doing progression if there is a reasonable option to just grind it out.

Not a bad plan IMO, just be VERY careful how you set your stuff up if you're letting outsiders into your group. Most folks can tell when automation is being used on melee toons, so I suggest caution and skepticism in adding other folks in if you're going to be using MQ at all. Just my 2 red cents.

Test the waters and keep working your way up to the point that your crew can't survive. I sometimes used the Yeti caves in Lceanium or the spiders outside. You just need to be mindfull as to to who is around you while running your automation.

My current setup is SK/CLR/ROG/MAG/BST/ENC I have a shaman, bard, or necro I also sub in and out of the group as needed

Does anyone have any thoughts about swapping the Bard out for a Druid ( I think mine is 111 or 112).

So then it would be SK/Druid/BST and then what for a fourth? Enchanter possibly? I guess i could interchange the Bard/Druid based on content. So as an example, if I'm working on ToV, swap out for Bard for that double invis.

You can cover the double invis using SK and any class that can cast group invis using a hot key.

If driving on your SK
/alt activate 1212
/dex xxxx /alt activate yyyy
xxxx = toon name, yyyy = AA that corresponds to group inv

Having a mezzer makes grinding less of a hassle if ur tank isn’t able to tank multiples no problem so don’t think I’d trade out a bard for a Druid. Plus bard will increase ur groups overall dps.

Yes, this is a good point, I think having the bard just to deal with adds alone is pretty important. I've decided to start by adding an Sk.

My lineup will be SK/Brd/BST with 3 x mercs. Probably pick up the MQ2Grind here in a couple of weeks and then in about a month, I'll splurge and add in a Shm. So eventually I'll have the SK/Brd/Bst/Shm and hopefully, that will be enough to do all the group content I desire to do. Altho, if i can get away with just the SK/Brd/Bst and 3 mercs, I'll just keep it at that.

Second this statement
Here is how I look at this
I’m putting no one in my box crew unless I know you personally.
I’m not catching a ban or possibly my 6 accounts all with expansions because someone snitched.
And that’s exactly what you are risking
You could help them today and tomorrow they ask to get in your group and get hurt feelings when you don’t let them. They run and tell on you…..
But it’s your choice your decision…..

Thanks for the heads up, I didn't realize Everquest was still actively banning people for this. Seems like shooting themselves in the foot if they are. I guess I see so many automated groups on FV that it's become more common now than not. I will definitely be a bit more cautious moving forward, thank you.

There is a post here, and in fippys and on the official forums.. MQ and SEQ are still both against TOS.. we cheat and take our chances.

What about just driving with BST with Brd/Mage set on merc mode, 3 mercs. I would imagine for most group content, with the exception of a mission here and there I would be just fine? I REALLY want the SK in the group, but the idea of getting him from 100-120 so that he is actually viable in LS content feels daunting.

side note: is there a button i can make so that i can easly group everyone instead of tabing to each window to except, ect..?

best group makeup:

SK/SHM/BST/MAG/BRD/ROG

Average DPS = 5mil
Burn DPS = 10mil +

I would advise persona ROG available to be a cleric just incase you are having issues in a particular area.
