Problem - Large Hit Box Bosses

I'm really struggling to get my bard to engage from the outer end of a raid boss's hit box. The mob in particular is the Avatar of Steel in Argath. The bard runs right underneath the Avatar but can't hit it because the Avatar is standing over a pool of water. I'd like for my bard to engage and hit from max melee range rather than attempting to run in. Alternatively, every attempt I've done to disable the "auto-positioning" that occurs when turning on auto attack has failed. Doesn't matter if "stickbreak" is set to 1. If i can't get the max melee range to work, I want to be able to hit a hotkey and have my bard stay right where I put him (but still continue to play songs and use MQ2Melee abilities). Thoughts? Been wrestling with this one for weeks now and every variant seems to fail.

Thanks for the help.

There is a way to distance yourself for stick but offhand I couldn't tell you.. What I do is just turn stick off and position them where I want.

I've attempted to turn stick off to do that. Via Stickhow and other such methods. Can anyone offer up the in-game command to de-activate stick?

in mq2melee ini

stickrange=75
stickbreak=1

stick break allows you to move and to break stick

I have this setting. But when I'm attacking, it doesn't work. If i try to move my character at all Kiss forces me towards the back of the mob.

Stickmode=1 forces mq2melee to use the stick you have defined in you ini file under stickcmd=
Rich (BB code):
stickmode=1
stickcmd=8 !front <======You now stick using this
