Hopefully good enough for that free month.....
I have found a strategy that may help in killing the spirits, and i have found that it works on other quest mobs as well.
Heritage Quest for the black sash or scarf (sorry i am at work and can't remember the name of quest)
We already know to back your tank into a corner or up against the wall so he doesn't get thrown off the map while the rest of the group is getting torn to pieces.
What my group of 5 did was spawn the spirit and proceeded to die rather quickly. When we returned he was still up in aggro form. Now that several minutes went by we tried again and slaughtered him.... hmmmm thinking..
Next spirit we find is in Enchated Lands... this time we get him to pop and aggro him, and the run him off. Once he breaks aggro he loses his personal buffs which were protecting him the first time. He died quickly.
I have also found that this worked with the main Vampire In the bloodlines cave, after being killed twice of course we tried this method.
