Problem - Issues caused by trying to use MQ2Nav

Hi all

I just attempted to set-up MQ2Nav using the guide found here: https://www.redguides.com/content/196-The-Red-Guide-to-MQ2Nav-KA

I followed it step by step, and when I got the step to type '/plugin mq2nav load' in-game, I got a System Error pop up saying 'The program can't start because d3dx9_35.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem'. I then re-started my computer just in-case that was causing any issues.

Now, when I launch Everquest, this same System Error comes up every time. It doesn't prevent me from launching everquest, however, when I run KA now after a few minutes some of my instances of EQ (but not all at the same time) get an error randomly pop up saying ResetDevice() Failed! and the client will freeze/crash.

At a bit of a loss as to what to do - do I need to re-install EQ?

Thanks in advance for any help

Sounds to me like your direct x got corrupted somewhere a long the way. Not really sure how it would happen but the error you're mentioning I am fairly certain is a direct x error.

Try reinstalling direct x, it may fix it

Thanks for the assistance.

unfortunately I ran the DX9 updater linked above (first link) - EQ now launches without the System Error, but on attempting to log-in I get an MQ2 crash error which causes EQ to crash too

Just a follow up from the recent patch. Was testing on a new laptop with a gtx 1080 and isolated this error to mq2nav. However, the game runs fine and I do have dx 9.0c installed. Any ideas on what M2QNav could be doing to cause this error? Is there a way to verify that the correct d3d9x_35.dll files exist with the correct dates? I see one in system32 and one in SysWOW64, same date and time different file sizes. If I remove the nav plugin system doesnt crash, and if I actually load the plugin AFTER I am in the game, it doesnt crash so whats going on with M2QNav?
