I am curious about the EZ server, it looks interesting but not sure if it's worth starting there or should I just go back to live?

Thoughts?

You could always try P99. I haven't played on EZ so I don't know anything about it.

EZ servers are usually exactly that , easy as hell to play. Some are set up to give you like 25+ levels a kill until a certain level, or sell raid gear on merchants for 1cp, or what ever. They also tend to be kinda smallish in content. Entirely depends on what you find entertaining.

Admittedly Live is set up to help you zoom to the upper levels... say like 1-75ish quick then slowing down until 85-90ish range, so you can be in range to group with the other live players. But... you got all of EQ to play in on live so --shrugs--

warlocks couldnt be any furthur off from the truth... You don't get 25+ levels per kill, there is a shit ton of content, and its not very easy... Theres uber items that take a ton of time to get... Honestly have no idea where he got that from...

from playing on EZ servers?.....

you realize of course I was generalizing (as noted by using the word "some" ....especially then ending "or what ever"... indicating again that these are generalized examples, followed by various observations, and the keyword "serverS" indicating not necessarily the same server... )....and there are a number of them out there... right? ... most of the ones I have encountered used Titanium so... limited content compared to live so....yeah

The man was asking for opinions... I am having a bout of insomnia and offered one... from a dude whose played on a number of EQ emulation servers. Sorry if my experience differs =)

Back to counting dots on the ceiling....

Yea but he asked for an Opinion from someone who played on THE EZ Server http://www.ezserveronline.com/forums/. EZ Server stands for Extended Zones Server. EZ Plays like this 1-70 does take like, well with Power Leveling maybe like 7 mins but that's really when the server starts. On my main toon I have over 700 days played time. I enjoy the server very much. I run a 12 man team on there but it is what i like to call a grind server and besides P99 one of the most popular EMU servers. Take a look at the wiki's on the site, there is a ton of information on the wikis about getting started.

The EZ in EZ server is described accurately in this post.. It is not necessarily "easy".

In my personal opinion (I've played pretty much every "good" eqemu server that's been out since the first custom servers started rolling out).. Live is a lot more interactive than the EZ and 99% of Emu servers out there.. They've significantly changed the game in the most recent expansions and I think the live game has a completely different feel that while, isn't unattainable on the EMU servers for the developers to create but is a truly challenging task. I box a ton of raid geared chars on test and while I feel that gameplay tends to be a bit more fun for me.. On live there's a small ceiling to what I can do short of boxing a disgusting amount of characters. On the EZ server, (especially with the new RoF2 compile around the corner) you can effortlessly box 6 (and more if you really wanted to) and progress to the end of the server.

Calling it a "grind" server is a pretty decent description. The appeal to it is sort of like Diablo 3... I can get really good gear if i put a fair amount of time in the game.. but if I want the BEST gear it's going to be a long haul.

I really like the idea of EZ server, only thing turning me off is the ROF2 client has no good UI's out there :(. I'm a big UI guy, my favorite UI by far that i've used on previous emu servers and TLP was the AYA UI. I love that Ui to death, but I can't find it for the ROF2 client. I could just use my UF client to play on EZ but I hear the ROF2 client has some good performance enhancements and more stuff in it.

What do you guys think? Just find a new ui and do the ROF2, or use UF? I think I will try out EZ Server. it really sounds fun. Will a 4-6 box combo be good enough? and what classes?

Thank you all!

http://www.eqinterface.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?id=5518 try one of the shadow of fear ones in the patches & add ons section?

I think I've tried all of those with the ROF2 client. I need to try them out again. BTW Does anyone know how often EZ server adds new content?

The UI I use on PEQ with RoF2 I just looked at UIErrors.txt and fixed everything until it worked :P

And probably whenever hate gets around to adding new stuff.

I never knew that file existed! I will try that out. Thank you!

Jut my 2cents, EZ doesnt stand for Easy-server...its Extended Zones server and highly custom. I played there for couple years and i can tell you the game starts once you hit max level, there is A_LOT of grinding to get through the tiers and if you choose to do it with your own box team things WILL be hard for the most part untill you finally get a couple chars geared up with UC's.
The server it self is nothing like you ever seen in EQ, all zones/loot/classes/spells etc are totally custom and imo if you enjoy boxing then you should give it a try, loads of fun and a very decent community. MQ not only alloud but its required to go through the tiers (not active hacks). I'd highly recommend it
