Prairie dogs carry the Black Plague, we had to trap and exterminate them quite a bit in South Dakota (Oglala Sioux Indian Reservation near Pine Ridge) when I lived there because of this. Nasty little blighters anyway, always diggin holes in the ground a Horse or Cow could step in and break a leg from.
