Question - How To Use Roles

Hi, I am fairly new to MQ2 & Kissassist. Just started this weekend. I am trying to learn the Kissassist roles.
I have 6 toons, WAR, SK, CLR, WIZ, ENC & ROG. All of them are in their low 20's, in Crescent Reach.
I am leveling everyone up together and learning their roles at the same time.
Right now, I am doing /MAC KISSASSIST TANK on the WAR, and the rest target the WAR for default /MAC KISSASSIST.
I tried the "PULLER" role, and quickly lost control of everything. In general, do you always use the PULLER role?
I prefer to pull at my pace, not the automatic puller pace (maybe the PULLER role is better in a large outdoor zone, like Blightfire??).
I was leading/driving everything with the WAR, but I'm thinking about leading with the SK, instead.
If I use the the SK to manually pull, do I mark the SK as the TANK? Or continue to mark the WAR as the TANK, and manually pull with the SK?
Thanks

Tank role will have your Tank wait in camp and pickup any mobs as they enter camp. The tank normally will try and keep aggro. Use the manual role on the character you want to pull with. Have everyone target the tank and start kiss.

That's going to depend on how you want to play. If you want to manually run your warrior or SK as many people do, then you'd use
Code:
/mac kissassist manual
for that character. That gives them some of the benefits from automation, but leaves the majority of the playing to you as you would normally run a character.

The puller role simply designates that character as a pull role, they will use the settings under the pull section of your ini to pull mobs back to camp.

The tank role, as ctaylor says, has them stand and wait for a mob to arrive and then thwomp on them. pullertank role has them run out grab a mob and bring it back, then tank it.

If you're running a toon, I'd suggest using manual on that toon, then for everyone else use:
Code:
/mac kissassist assist PCname 99

As a starting point that's the simplest. As you get more skilled and want to branch out, you can start incorporating some of the other role options. If you'd like more specific help on setting up and running feel free to ask directly. If you're on a server one of us frequents, that might help us assist you directly, but we can give you directions this way as well.

On a side note, I would suggest swapping out either the warrior or the SK for a different toon. Running 2 tanks in a group is not particularly productive unless you have a very specific purpose in mind, but generally you're sacrificing a lot of capability for your group to have 2 tanks. This is a general observation, and my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt, and do as you want, but that's my observation.

When I started I manually pulled and tanked with my tank character (I still mostly do that) - I don't even run KA at all, and set everyone else to assist mode as @toadwart suggests.

I think you might have issues with an SK and a WAR in the same group - the SK will probably steal aggro, especially at low levels, as most of the SK DPS spells generate hate one way or another. Everyone has their group makeup preference, though.

Have a look at https://www.redguides.com/community/threads/maskois-boxing-guide-to-eq-with-mq2-1.24985/ which should help.

Yeah, I see your point on the potential SK & WAR issue. I should deal with that sooner, than later, I guess. Any recommendations on a replacement class?
Go with a DPS/Puller? (like BST, BER, MNK, RNG)?
or a Caster (MGE/NEC/WIZ)?

You've got your trinity covered just fine, so any dps/support role would be a benefit. you have your wiz for a porter, so you could go with a shammy/beast for dps/buffs, or a zerk for raw dps. Monk/ranger or mage would work too. I'm less keen on the monk/ranger myself, but that's a personal bias. The others are all good adds in my opinion, but really it's up to you, do you want straight dps or do you want some support from buffs etc as well, which helps dps in a more circuitous, but also helpful route.

I tried this /mac kissassist manual , changed my spells , and did nothing else. I play a pally with a full box group , ( I know , not the optimum tank , but had since may 2000 ) I would like to play him ( pull , MA,Tank ) with once combat starts , it will auto do the rest , not sure if im doing something wrong. I targeted self and /mac kissassist manual . Is there something else needed?

Check out kaen's guide to KA Manual mode.

Manual turns DPS section off by default, which is the auto-skill/auto-cast stuff. So once you've started your KA manual toon, you also need this command to turn DPS back on.
Code:
/dpson 2

You might want "/dpson 1" instead, but 2 seems a more popular choice. You can read about the difference in the DPS notes on the KA instructions & settings page.

Since it's a pally, you might also want KA to do the auto-healing/rez, in that case you'd also need to issue "/healson 1"

Another option is to run full KA instead of manual, but make a macro pause toggle hotkey. "/mqp" and bind that to an easy key. I use 3. Then you pause KA, run out to pull, run back to camp and hit your pause again to resume. KA will take over and start clearing camp. If you have the pally in role=tank, then it will sit in camp and defend it until you pause and go to pull more.
