Question - Hotkey syntaxes

Is there a way to put something like ${.self} in a hotkey to make universal hotkeys in my main template?

I use things like ${Me.Name} in socials for hotkeys. I expect any MQ2 command or valid TLO would work. I have also used /echo ${stray macro variable} to see what is going on with my macros. I know /varset stray variable works too.
