When I try to go in and edit my character.ini file I keep getting an error when I try to save.

Notepad Cannot create the C:\Program Files\....KissAssist_Name.ini file. Make sure that the path and file name are correct.

I have been toying with it for a week. Any help would be appreciated.

I just upgraded from XP to Win 7 recently and had the same troubles. Anything in the program file folder is marked as read only. Even as an admin I was initially locked out.You probably need to change some settings so that you can write to that folder.

I had the same problem when I went too Windows 7 and/or windows 8. Make sure your account is setup as an Administrator. Open the file you want to edit (Character.ini). Now this is where it can get tricky, but this is how I do it. When finished editing the file and you go to save it. Change the name of the file(Character_1.ini) and save. This should save the file for you. Now using windows explorer go to the directory where you saved the file. Delete the file you were trying to edit (Character.ini). Now rename the Character_1.ini to Character.ini.

After this initial change you will be able to edit the Character.ini without going through this process.

This has worked for me.
