I've been playing Everquest (on live, and emulated serves, and Everquest II, and now Legends) on and off for years, but never realized the amount of extra functionality that had been built up around the original game until a friend told me about the various packages people use to assist their multiboxing efforts and I wound up here. Very much looking forward to absorbing and making use of what looks like a ton of information here.

Would anyone mind offering some personalized suggestions on where to start with all of this? I am a lifelong developer and unafraid of configuring and coding things myself if I have to, I don't aspire to run more than a single group, I tend to prefer casters over melee, and while I am planning to learn to box better on live, I'd probably end up on emulated servers as well.

If it matters, this isn't me asking for someone else to do my legwork for me, I generally teach myself to fish instead of asking for a meal. I've read a decent amount of the "beginner's guide to.." posts, but I don't have all of the time in the world for experimentation, so I'd be thankful of some educated and up-to-date takes from the community at large who might be able to start me off in the best direction(s) based on my use case as described above. What software/packages/plugins to start with, on live or emu, must-have plugins, etc.

Plus, it's nice to interact with people (sometimes).

Your expert opinions are appreciated in advance. In return, I offer a photo of my cat who thinks that she would like to live in the dishwasher.
