Grelleth's Palace, the Chateau of Filth (Level 96-100)

Grelleth's Palace is a Tier 2 RoF zone. This is a good zone to go from 96-100 or to farm AA. Grelleth is a ghost town and you can AFK without fear of being seen by anyone. In the 3 weeks I spent there I only briefly saw one other person in the zone. I have seen some guides for places like HoT and on my server you would need balls of steel to AFK in such a populated place. AFK safety is always my primary concern.

The first thing you want to do is Attune to the zone. In The Resplendent Temple use the find button to locate "Udgar the Brave" he is next to the portal that leads to Grelleth's. Grab the attune quest first so your return trips will be eaiser.

Link to quest for portal attune.

Once inside the zone invis your team up and prepare to move to camp. There are only a few things that see invs and you will need to dodge them on your way to camp. Be on the lookout for any Goral's (a guard goral). They look like half reptilian dogs and walk on all four feet. They see invs. See attached map they are only in the area with the red circle. Follow the blue line as seen on attached map to the camp.

When you reach camp as marked on the map by the yellow star have your team hug the hill there. It is a small hill but you cannot run over it. See zoomed in map attachment for precise location. Add “The Forgotten Murderer” to your list of mobs to ignore in your KissAssist_Info file. He is a named and the reason we want to ignore him is because his loot is no drop. You want to be there when he drops so you can pass the loot out. The good news is that where he spawns he will not add on ANY pulls. So just check for him every few hours. You will want a pull range of 600 here.

This camp is great because all the trash mobs are spread out far enough for single pulls. The trash mobs drop level 98 tradable gear at an insane rate. You will have bags full of level 98 gear for all classes. I am talking all classes all slots minus weapons. Be sure to transfer all the gear to your non looters because it is all lore and you don't want it to rot because your looter already has one. The icing on the cake is that you are also camping a named at the same time “The Forgotten Murderer”.

In summery.
-Nobody in the zone (ghost town)
-Great XP
-Single Pulls
-Collections Drops
-Crazy loots
-Full AFK compatible
-Named Spawn Camp

Nicely done! It's great to see someone sharing a great afk camp! I know tons of our members have them but most don't share them due to wanting to keep themselves, and the camp, safe for them to continue doing what they're doing.

I don't think your tear will progress here. The named is the only alaran I have seen in the zone.

Excellent! Thanks a lot.

EDIT: I have now tried the spot. Did the attunement quests with my 3-box and all.

The spot is really really good in terms of both EXP and loot.

It's just too hard for my level 97 (bard, berserker and shaman) 3-box so far.

I can clear it all out many times; but getting an add which happens rarely will most of the time wipe out my group.

I guess I will come back in a level or two :)

I tried the camp, but a living filth creature is kinda bugged.. it wont come to the camp and resets after a while.. the puller keeps trying to pull him untill there is closer mobs respawning :S

I also tried to setup camp in the red circled area, a lot more mobs there, but there is one in the water and when pulled it wont come out grrrrr :S

To get as many nameds as possible you need a really high ZRange, cause their favorite spots to spawn in this zone is on hills haha.

Added a pollution monster to the ignore list! And you are NOT coming off /finger

Adding some Grelleth's discussion from another thread here.

KCROBK Update: I'm at 4 glowing shards in 3 days of on/off camping at the forgotten murderer camp. There is a chance to kill a second named from there Grelleth`s War Machine, but I can't seem to get my guys to BURN against him for some reason so I only pull him if I'm not afk'ing (he seems to spawn on this hill and i keep my pull Z radius to 50 to keep from pulling him)

DUTCH_SK mm I am at the spot in Grelleth's too now, but I can't pull the PH on the hill, he is not in LoS to pull. You pulling with melee?

KCROBK I'm actually not sure how he was pulled I was afk and came back to him in my camp bouncing everyone around. Maybe he came as an add. I pull with a spell I forget what and I'm on my phone lol. I'll do more testing tomorrow and let you know.

KCROBK Dutch I'm using Demand for Power and a ZRange of 80 to get the PH on top of that hill. I camp at exactly 4394, 2481,15 with 1000 pull range. It seems to give me the most mobs without pulling anything I get stuck on. I actually use a ZRange of 50 normally because I don't want to pull that dang War Machine afk. He can be mean and I haven't been able to spell the name correctly in my KISS_Info to afk burn him.

Oh I'm going to copy and paste this to the Grelleth Guide since it's about that spot.

By the way for anyone interested in this camp, Grelleth`s War Machine can spawn here as well. There is a hill a little ways out with a junkcrafter scavenger that is a PH for the War Machine. He is a meanie and tosses your group up in the air over and over. I suggest keeping your ZRange at 50 if you do not want to pull him on accident.

Also having too high of a ZRange will cause you to try to pull some mobs to the East of your camp that MQNavigation will get stuck on BADLY. So let me make that mistake for you lol.

good luck!

Rob

Currently testing a spot where I can pull 4 ph'ers for nameds, if that doesn't work I am gonna give the original spot a try.

Ran into 3 groups already :S

I tried a spot very close to the zone in along the wall as suggested HERE. It seemed like a really good spot, but I had some real problems getting hung up on walls even using mq2navigation. I ended up moving to try the spot in this guide, but I am definitely game for something new! Let me know how it goes.

Great minds think alike! There are 2 quest givers over there and a bunch of kill quests for that area if you'd like to ramp up the AA's.

Warmachine can spawn on the isle too though, so actually 4 nameds.

I am camping between #1 and #3 a bit more to the south.

4th group I am running into though :S

Had to unload AFK Tools otherwise I wont kill at all pff

Lol yeah that is a problem. It's pretty quiet there on my server. I haven't seen anyone yet. Dang War Machine killed me again. Burn still isn't activating even using your Kiss_Info file grrr.

Got Warmachine to spawn finally and my Burn didnt fire as well =(

Luckily my holyshits on SK did fire, so I managed to kill him without interfearing manually.

Guess we need to make holyshits for the whole team hehe =)

I guess i need to set up some holyshits. I've only played with them once and felt like the burn section covered me pretty good. I guess I'm going to have to do some research today!

Team Holy Shit to the rescue!

Just a little update after a few days of farming here.

I had a lot of trouble with the camp spot posted just due to the roamer who is nearby. It's fine when we're all killing and the add just gets mezzed. But camping there for the night isn't a great idea. I moved my camp over a little (see pic) up on a ledge, and it seems a bit safer for me. If my group wipes, they don't get killed by the roamer while they try to set up again.

This spot was also better when we killed the War Machine because he flings you backward and you could get an add or two from the area near his hill. So just a thought.

Excellent thanks, I've been meaning to go back to grelleth, I'll have to check out the new spot. I'll thank you when I get to my computer.

Oh and keeping perfected levitation on my guys really kept the flinging to a minimum.

In the few days that I've camped here, I've seen The Forgotten Murderer about 6-8 times. He has dropped two glowing dreadmotes, a greater, and a lesser. I've seen War Machine once - but he was up when I logged in. I've had much better luck in the named shaman/war machine camp getting War Machine to pop, but he's only dropped one lesser dreadmote in about 6 kills. Also, I was manually pulling when I'm at the sham/war machine camp. I'll have to set up my team there sometime and see if it works. Doubtful since there are mobs in the lake that aggro but don't come out.

I remember the lake mobs, I think I was able to add them to the Do Not Pull section successfully. I think I was getting 1-2 glowing a day there which is pretty good since they sell for 80k on FV. I wish the trash loot was a little better. I'm working on killing Alarans right now in shards landing, trying to evolve my very small stones. I'll have to revisit grelleth soon though, my cleric and mage need some rk ii level 100 spells

I wanted to add another spot that I see another crew AFK at. This one doesn't pull any named PH (as far has he has said to me) and is pretty safe to AFK. See Red dot on the attached pic. My crew sits on the ledge near the Murderer PHs (green Xs).

Dangit geek, you weren't supposed to give up my spot!
just watch your pull distance, or you'll jump off a cliff..hadn't ever done that till yesterday..and i've been in this spot for a while

I will say this about Grelleth's , this zone has been a god-send for me . Currently I play on a very low pop server where there is honestly no bazaar action at all , nightly you may see max 6 people selling items ( of which none are anything a lvl 98 + could use ) . I was honestly getting very worried as to what to do and where to go once my team all hit 98 ( war , druid , chanter , mag , clr , clr merc ).We are all maxxed out in T4 Hot group and T2 Voa group drops due to the fact that my war cant seem to tank anything higher tier . But the armor that drops from here surpasses anything I currently wear ( I just wish shields would drop as well ) . So great guide and great area to farm gear in although I would say that at 98 most mobs con yellow to me so you better have a good tank if you plan to come here pre-98 . Thanks and keep the guides coming !

awesome good to know , I know that is an upgrade for my warrior right there . now we just need 3 or 4 of them to drop

grelleth4.jpgChange your camp spot to the one marked as #2 and #5 (from other thread) and I believe those drop the shield more often.

I'll repost the picture here in case you too lazy to look for it.

Actually the 2nd drop I got in this zone was the shield at camp 4 , so they do drop here as well . Great zone !!

ok so im doing this camp and im not sure what i've got going on, runs great for a while, puller pulls, tank tanks, and dps assist tank, but occasionally my puller grabs a mob and my tank doesnt assist on it (seen it happen about once in like 30-40min) idk if its an ini issue or what

also when i tried the camp spot eqgeek has listed, i run out of mobs and have to wait for respawns. what kind of pull radius do you all use? do you all have to wait on respawns or do i just have something setup wrong?

Your first issue is unrelated to this guide. Recommend starting a new thread and posting your .ini so we can take a look at your camp radius and stuff. That's most likely your issue. You should just have to play around with those numbers.

As far as your second issue, if you're running out of mobs I would definitely expand your pull radius. I'd have to see what you're currently using, and I recommend once you make the change that you watch it through a few spawn cycles so that you can see if it's getting hung up on anything.

i think i figured out the first issue (ill let ya know after another few test sessions). the pull radius i have played with from 600 all the way up to 1000, its a line of site issue as far as getting more mobs :o/

So this camp is still legit for 96-100?
The beach is starting to turn mostly light blue at 97 :)

Yes. Very much so. Wont hurt to bring along some extra healing. Looking at Calaxa's map start at camp 2 it is the easier camp and there are No named mobs to worry about. and when you start feeling like your ready to take on some named mobs you can move to camp 1. There are 2 named mobs you can pull from camp 1.
