Im an old guy new to boxing. I have very vanilla and rgmercs, the issue is after playing for an hour or so ( i have been afk when this happens) my whole group gets booted to character screen and are in PoK. Does anyone know why or how i can fix this?

Likely killed and sitting at your bind point. Suggest monitoring your characters instead of AFK play to determine what is going wrong. Then adjusting your parameters accordingly.

Also, as the leaf suggests. AFK play is no good.

They were not killed, still completely buffed and no corpses, no xp loss

I too have experienced this. (tempAFK and not playing, and everything paused/stopped)
*puts on Tin Foil hat* I wonder if this is potentially GM intervention, maybe like a soft hand of "i see you but you havent been a dick yet" kind of thing. (i actively avoid being on folks radars and do my best to be on the best behavior whenever I incidentally interact with someone.)
However at the same time, I can have toons sitting in PoK for days running overseer with no forced logouts, and sometimes ill come back from bathroom and be at char select.
No pattern found yet.

Tin foil hat theory here. They don't have admins policing the servers like they did 20 years ago. There is a lot still wrong with how the game works. Buggy, laggy, incomplete processes. The game does strange things sometimes all by itself. But it's not a GM running around handing out obscure warnings.

Darkpaw has said they have been implementing new measures to address botting, my thoughts (and i edited my post above, as yes this is tin foil hat territory) is this might be a potential outcome of those "anti-cheat improvements".

It could also be something like mq2autoaccept allowing you to get AoE tlc to pok/bind which you allow your characters to blindly accept.
Someone finds you afk hits you with the tlc and off you go.
Doesn't account for logged out, but meh.

Think about it this way.....They can't even fix whatever EQ has going on now to stabilize things, and get everything else working properly. Do you really think they are going to appropriate the resources to implement new software to bog down the already plagued system that is EQ? Especially because, whether they like it or not, doing something like this also cuts into their revenue as well. Honestly, I think they only thing they have been "implementing" really is a schedule to make server sweeps live with their detection software to boot MQ users, and auto suspend/ban them. They have to walk a fine line between customer relations with the entire subscriber base, and cutting out too many MQ users. Most of the things they say publicly is to save face with their subscribers. And I believe that to be the all of it IMHO.

Meh is how I feel about any and all theories surrounding the strange behavior of EQ, and the links to the DBG ban stick.
