Leveling - Good spot for leveling toons

Someone had a good spot before in Underquarry I think it is that you could use to level up to 100, slow but pretty safe as it was a cave way down the end that no one ever goes to. I used that for a while but with the last double xp weekend coming up I figured there had to be something better xp wise and with CotF out I thought that a lot of VoA zones would be dead now.

I eventually ended up in Beasts Domain, pretty easy to get to, no one goes there and there is a spot down the bottom right corner of the map between the two rivers, right at the edge of the map that is perfect. There's 3 static rotdog type mobs in that area, I set up near the edge in the center sort of of the triangle they form where there are no roamers. It's dead flat, mobs are well spaced out and there's only 2 that will come together, all the other mobs come single with any puller really. I set the pull radius to 900 and never run out of stuff to pull, mostly dark blues with the odd light blue at 100.

If your setup will actually go for more than 5 hours at a time unlike mine I'd guess you could do 92 to 100 in 5 or 6 days if you're lucky.

Cool. Thanks :)

I can share an spot with lv 73/74 mobs, getting green at 89. Katta-Castrum, North-East Quarter, there are 2 spots. One with static elementals, fast respawn and you will only get singles there, and one with static/roamer elementals, fast respawn also but with 2-3 mobs sometimes. Used this spot to grind several thausend AA there at 85.

hmm this is my spot .... lol now its gonna get packed.. lol
oh well takes the heat of me i guess i AFKed there for about 4 days and didnt see a soul..

Even at higher levels it isvery easy to wipe in underquarry. why no one goes there.

I'm torn. I have a couple favorite spots for leveling and afk. But unsure if i want to share them in public and give away my spots or identify myself lol

I spent quite a bit of time in underquarry and never had an issue, even if SoE cares enough to get a subscription for here and read our posts they don't seem to care enough to do anything about it. As long as you don't do anything stupid and piss people off I doubt you'll have problems.

I'm doing 75-85 with my group in Ashengate (hover for map). Quiet zone, never see anyone.

The large room at bottom-right is great for AFK'ing.

edit: I also use /plugin mq2navigation
for pulling. (my bard pulls) If you'd like to use it as well, here's the .bin

i AFKed in a room in thal till 75 if you go down in the tunnels to the right i was in the 3rd from last room. 5 spawn in the room and 2 roamers i would place myself beside a rock where i could see all 5 mobs.

then when they turn green i afked in Fort Mech in the room very top left. go up to the 3rd floor then to the left and down. i stayed there it 85ish then started swarming there and now im 92 and looking for a new place to afk kill

i have a 98 magi and a 92 sk and i 91 bard i can group but i dont really use the bard much other than to pull for beams

If you completed your HoT Progress i used to use SS for my toons at 90. I could set one group up at Farm and one group at Giants

I'll share one of my favorite spots for leveling alts safely... relatively safely, that is.

http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=5009

In this quest, Searching for a Cure, your only goal is to collect 8 gem stones, and feed them to a little Sessloid named Sessy. The enemies you face, are... get this... rocks. Yup, they don't fight back. They have a lot of HP, however, and there are other mobs that can and will kill you on sight. There is, however, one AWESOME trait while doing this quest. After server restart, someone, will usually go through the zone killing all of the RED mephits. There are many red mephits, but each one has a chance to spawn a "gray" one, named a "deranged fire mephit" which will remain non-KoS unless it is directly attacked. One note though... if you do happen to accidentally take aggro from a deranged mephit... it is BETTER TO DIE than to kill it. They are a random rare chance to spawn one, and killing them screws it up for the less capable folks trying to get some AA's.

For my level 85, I get 25 aa's per turn in, level 95 gets around 7. 6 hour timer on the task, checkable with /taskt. Each rock is supposed to drop two types of gems each, and each one usually drops multiples of each type, when they DO drop the gems. There is a chance to get trash loot off of them. This can get annoying, however, if you have a lot of alts, this is a perfect spot to set up camp, and loot all extras with your other characters. The quest is pre-lootable. Make sure when you position yourself to attack the rocks, that you try to do so at max melee distance with the nearest mobs to you directly across from you. ESPECIALLY NEAR THE DWARF TASK MASTER. Those golems don't play nice.

If you are a lower level toon that can get the quest, but cannot kill the monsters, you are ALSO in luck, because if you can find a single rock, you can farm it, OR, just scavenge from others that are doing the quest also. There are usually so many duplicates that no one minds scavenging at this camp, but always make sure to be polite and respectful to others... they might be kind enough to point out the ones that you're missing. I've made many friends at this camp by being helpful. It's kind of a hideaway spot... but... well, I miss the company.

This quest will give you regular exp if you turn off your AA xp. The quest is listed as 85-100, So, Good luck! ENJOY!!!

(It's not a secret by any means, but it is a very nice camp.)

Looking for a spot to go 85-88 and about 3k AAs on each char for a full 6-box team, fort mech is getting pretty slow and we're running out of mobs (5-10% AA per kill). Any recommendations? My SK tank has 59k hp and 6.4k AC buffed (3.5k AAs) if that helps.

For 85-88 I've been doing a lot of Erudin Burning. I'm not sure if you'll be able to do that or not. Pulls get up to 3 at a time of the Erudites/Skellies there, but the exp is quite good. I have an advantage in decapping, but a full group should be quite okay.

Barring that, HoT Lower would be quite nice, as you have those kill tasks for the courtyard mobs. Though if you are sticking with Fort Mech because it is an older expansion due to HP/mob damage, other viable options at that range would be:
Toskirakk,
Korascian Warrens,
Field of Scale,
Old Bloodfields,
Pretty much any T3ish SoD zone. I find those 4 the most fun, though.

Underfoot: Stay out. There really is no decent reason to go there for your crew. Drops are better in HoT, and the mobs are probably easier.

Feerott the Dream may also be a decent place, and there are missions you can get with a bit of pre-tasking. If you just want lazy hunter style farming, make sure you know where they lock out, and just drop at that point and re-request, or continue on for the loot and get a lock out. HoThule lower also has a few tasks like that, but I think that "The Fall of the Tae Ew" has the best mob density of all of those style missions.

Best of luck, Kutsuu!

have you tried House of thule and the kill tasks in the courtyards rot dogs.
they will give about 50% AA a kill and every task will give 6 AA under 2K and 2K-3K 4 aa. and 3-4K 2 AA

edit
i should have refreshed my page before posting..
what varkeshan said...

depending on the current group you use, you could go to old bloodfields. the mobs are 85/86. b ut you need to setup your group so, that you pull from the side. there are spots with less roamer, up to spots wiyh shitloads of roamer. You need an mezzer if you dont want to tank more mobs.

my group get 5% aa per kill at 92 with more than 4k aa.

i started there with lv 88 semi afk. and moved from spot to spend with more and more mobs.

you need to try it. mobs are weaker than the hot mob, but still hit pretty hard.

I have SK/Monk/Cleric/Sham/Bard/Wiz, all are 1k or more AAs (monk and SK are 3k+) and have mostly VOA T1 gear. I appreciate the suggestions, but my main concern with most of the suggested zones is that they are generally very popular zones with high visibility. I head to places like this when I'm live at the PC and playing, but hoping for a new AFK spot that is rarely traveled. This mostly points me to UF zones since people are so afraid of them, but I may try some out of the way places in HoT zones.

Missions then. There's not too many in the way of respawning ones, but if you can set something up to have your characters roam, http://hot.eqresource.com/fallofthetaeew.php would be wonderful. It's an instance of feerrott that doesn't lock. And I BELIEVE when you drop ~1 min later, it drops you right near the quest giver again. Then just figure out a way to track when you are "done", drop the instance before hitting the lockout, and repeat.

Yeah, sadly UF is your ticket for most of your quiet AFKing needs. And that whole expansion was shit. If you pop through that linked site, there may be a few other decent group missions. You'd have to flag for them, but after that, so long as you don't get the lockout, you should be golden. Just a matter of what kind of mob density is inside.

Not truely AFK experience, sadly, but that's not something I've really looked for. Korafax may be less traveled too, if you wanted to try that, your group shouldn't do too badly there.

I loved UF when it was current because the content was so hard (often b/c of bugs... but w/e, it took some thought to get around them), so I have some nostalgia when rolling around there. I've already flagged my chars up to T8. Last time I tried to AFK there, my bots were dropping like flies b/c they were all in defiant with >20k hp. May be better now.

Korafax might work if I can get navigation plugin to work for me. Still getting "no start reference" errors.

As a followup to this post, I've taken my team listed above through a few different UF zones. They're currently able to AFK with my SK face pulling up to 5 mobs with zero deaths in underquarry. Will be moving on to the top floor(s) of convo once they gain a couple more levels, just to be very far out of the way of prying eyes.

i have had this problem were it runs out gets mob then spams no start ref... to fix it i just turned on /chase.
and it seemed to work then.

I am currently using a 92 SK, 90 Cleric, 87Wizard combo to level in HoT grounds. There is a spot in the SE corner of the zone next to an NPC named Plomaedis that is safe and excellent to pull to. I have my pull radius set to 300 and with my SK pulling and a cleric/tank merc running. If nobody trains you you can afk in this spot indefinitely. The pull rate is good and at 300 you don't really pull any named or more than 2 mobs at a time (which is very rare). I run the cleric merc because shit happens and the tank merc because I have had bonecrafters trained into my pull radius and they just love to mez the main tank (my sk).

You can bind in several locations safely nearby and your new heroic wizard has a beautiful The Grounds portal that drops you nice and close.

Good luck!

I'd be pretty leary about AFK'ing in the grounds since it's a hotzone. It's too populated for my taste. Unless you are on a dead server.

the is a grp that AFK there on Rathe.. but they are well known to the community and that just brings unwanted attention to MQ/kissassist.
the was a grp that was AFK for about 10 weeks at beetle in shards every one used to train them daily and god knows how many times they got reported. afking in zones like that is what will bring the ban hammer down on all of us.

I do try to keep my afk times during off peak hours. I haven't had any problems so far, but I just started this month with kissassist. I think I am going to try moving to the spot mentioned above in Beast's Domain as the grounds are light blue to all of my toons right now.

Thanks for the advice,

Rob

- - - Updated - - -

I typically only AFK there during off hours and I group with people if I'm playing there during peak times. That being said I am new to the community and don't want to bring any "ban hammers" down on anyone. Is there any place you'd suggest for my level? I'm going to check out the Beast's Domain recommendation from this post today.

Thanks,

Rob

i hated BD i have been in argath last leek great exp and loot. i have 4 toons so i get back and will have 4 lore items from named.

I think BD would be a bit tough for your trio (especially the spot mentioned here); I would sometimes have a full group of 100's wipe on a bad pull until I tweaked my ini's perfectly. If the grounds was good for you, I'd try Erudin Burning, or some HoT zones (now that they've unlocked all the progression, you should have access to everything).

There's that, too. BD is a T3 zone. Argath is T1. I still think it would be a bit hard for a 92 SK to tank safely it unless he's raid geared.

i like BD but i set up in the middle of it all and i can handle the 2 named nightowl, and the named heap.
but they are 2 tough named

I do the same... Lately I've just been running HA's lately, but maybe we'll see each other there sometime.... (Nighthowl, A Twisted Strangler, and Tangledeath are the named I get)

at the grounds camped mentioned earlier when i run kiss assist it trys to attack the npc and its probably a super noob question but how do i get him on the list of mobs to ignore

Andrew not a noob question at all! You need to edit your Kissassist_Info.ini file (it's in the macros folder). Once you enter a zone with a character the ini will populate like this

[House of Thule]
MobsToPull=List up to 25 mobs. Can be partial names Example: rat, snake, bear or ALL for all mobs
MobsToIgnore=Liss,Ruppoc Rockjumper,Groot,Alboct Vinn
MobsToBurn=Gristle,Fearsniffer,Nightscale,Fearhowler,Giblets
MezImmune=List up to 10 mobs. Use full names i.e. a green snake,a blue tiger,a wide eye ooze or NULL

I've added a few burns and ignores here that might help you out. The mobs to ignore will keep it from trying to pull it over and over.

Good luck!

Guess I needed to post this on my original thread. :-)

The problem is that I have it exactly right, it just doesn't work...

Awesome thanks. Once i get a level or two under my belt (my toons are 93/92/92) I will have to move over to the other side. I'm sitting right where you are suggesting and doing great. Thanks for the burns, saves a lot of time writing them out!

I wonder if it pulls him anyways because you have MobsToPull set to All?

In my other thread the quest guy has a ' in his name also. Is that the issue? I just tried to park my toons out of range for now.

Leveling - Good spot for leveling toons
