Question - FTP Group Setup

Hi all,

I have 7 gold accounts and am looking to start 5 FTP accounts so I can raid some older content with 2 groups. My plan is to use one of my paid accounts to be the second group tank but am interested in what the best FTP classes are that would complement the second group. Ideally am looking for a group that can standalone for levelling purposes. My thoughts are:

War (paid)
Cleric
Bard
x3 others

But open to suggestions…

I think a Ranger and a Beastlord are not as dependent on the spells, AA limits etc that they cannot get being F2P. Maybe the warrior wouldn't be too bad as unpaid.

A cleric, bard and chanter really need the unlimited AA and RK II spells they get from All Access.

I would go paid with the cleric as that is the most important one. Without heals your dead

Ton's of these post here. Tank always paid (need type 5s), casters and clerics can do fine f2p (dont need type 5s). Stay away from melee if at all possible (cause they need type 5s).

Or play on test and have gold all the time

Just krono pop all 5 at 115…once and max aa’s

I’d say go… tank/bard/enc/cleric, then rog/nec for max dps in your raid

raid some older content with 2 groups.

It really depends on which raids you want to raid? and what gear your Main Group has. Are they full NOS Raid Gear? or just group gear?
To do some COV stuff mobs have about 5 Billion HP you really need about 20M dps to have a chance.

Tantor would probably be easiest with lower dps - because its not about the dps at all.

I would make sure you have toons to cover all your buffs and go from there.

I'm assuming you'll krono the FTP chars and do AAs. Id run 2 mages and a necro/wiz/mage for last spot depending on what you want.

As someone said above, avoid melee as the type 5s are pretty important.

Primary group is mainly NoS raid geared. Was wanting to do ToV/CoV stuff if possible.

I will definitely get max AA on all toons when they get to 115. I might even get them to 120 before going back to FTP.

i would say too many variables to properly answer the question. What is your 1st group make up ? What are you looking to kill for raid targets? What are you using to drive your toons i,e. - KA , CWTN/Sic plugins ,ect ? And are you just going to use 2 groups ?

I 2nd this. Mages seem to be top of the food chain as far as ftp goes especially with the plug-in.

Wiz would be nice for port and teleport to bind for last spot though.

Necromancer do just fine as ftp also. 2 magicians and 1 necromancer are great caster group dps.
I like to use a cleric for heals - can use it out of group with xtar healing just fine.
Tank is your preference - i have both FTP and paid tanks and obviously the prestige level gear on the paid tank account is far superior, but a max AA and current non-prestige geared tank does ok on group content - haven't done anything with raid but I'm sure it would not stand up.
You can run an enchanter out of group also and keep a bard in group.
Last spot should be shaman or beastlord, shaman would be my preference.

I see most post are making assumptions here. I think more important is what classes are you already running? If you are running a group of pure melee than suggestions for mages are good. If you are already caster heavy I would suggest a BST and x2 ROG.

I’ve seen it mentioned already, but I will jump on the bad wagon that my cleric is F2P silver with 250 AA and heals my Gold AA SHD just fine with bard slow/mez.

I run two full groups and only my SHD is paid for.

Group 2:
Warrior
Shaman

Ranger
Mage
Enchanter

"bad" wagon indeed with a 250AA f2p cleric - you don't even get all the on-use AAs you need =p just krono once for autogrant my friendo
