Bug - Free Heroic on NEW FTP Accounts - No sub, No Krono

From what I read the promotion is supposed to require that any "new" account use a krono or buy a sub to get the free heroic character.

They coded it wrong. I made brand new accounts and as soon as the characters made it in game, a free heroic was offered without having used a krono or buying a sub. This works about 95% of the time, occasionally the character enters the world and is not offered a heroic upgrade but it seems very rare.

WARNING: If DBG finds out about this, it would be very simple to write the script to ban the offending accounts and any accounts associated with them so I would minimize the connection to your important accounts. (vpn, secondary email, etc.)

There's a 2 new accounts per IP per 24 hours so be careful, a sudden surge in people getting that error message or contacting support because they can't create new accounts could prompt them to research the issue.
 
I think them banning email wide is too far, I believe they will deactivate the accounts but really they know that this is the way it is and I don't know how much they care. I'll be leaving the ones I made alone for a few weeks before I sink money in to them. If they ban my accounts, I'll email them 300x an hour for the next 6 years.

You can make 2 accounts per day per IP address. Email is not relevant unless you confirm it

If you're using an ISP like comcast that also puts out a public hotspot signal, you can log in via that wifi instead of a direction connection or your private wifi. Where your paid personal connection wont change your public IP address, the public hotspot will each time you connect.

You can cycle through IP's this way

Open command prompt and do the following commands

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

On the public hotspots (and on SOME home connections) it will rerandomize your IP. The new IP will fall within a specific range, so its possible to get the same one repeated.. but they should all have a fairly large range. I just made 12 accounts at once with no issues doing that. Same email (but not confirming said email.. all accounts to remain clean)
 
Does the heroic have to be claimed before the 31st? Or once token is added to account you could save it till you want to use it?

This didn't happen until after the weekend of the promotion starting. My friends came back for the promotion created new accounts and I gave them Kronos to get going. They did not get heroics to pop up initially with only using a Krono. They petitioned to see what the deal was and a few days later got a response stating they should be able to log in and get them now. I think they got swamped with petitions over the issue and also the confusion with getting an actual recurring sub vs. using a Krono, and just took the flag away so any new accounts would get flagged.

As for getting banned? How on earth can you ban new accounts during this period simply because they are getting Heroics? It's not some kind of exploit that you have to perform to get it . . . EVERYONE that just makes an account gets it =D The guy that knows nothing about the promotion makes 6 accounts to box and finds he got a heroic upgrade once he logs his toons in (FPT accounts) . . . is he at risk of getting banned for making 6 new accounts? It would be completely retarded.

Edit: Also, we have 15 days of 150% exp. Generally, I'd guess DBGs has a mass of new accounts made during events like this . . . just from people creating new box toons to level up.

As far as I'm concerned, it's intentional - Although, I'm not making hundreds of accounts either =P hehe.

I dunno you would think if you only made 2-3 they wouldn't do anything its not your fault for the mistake. like say i wanted a new box account and was like oh cool a heroic toon and with the promotion going on how many realize it isnt suppose to get one on the account anyone, Alot don't read the fine print on how to get them. a guy in guild did this with 3 account few days ago to fill out his crew and he wasn't even aware he shouldnt have got the heroic toon. he thought every account got it tell 31st.
 
I think it is actually good for DBG metrics to have a ton of new accounts enter the game. Level 85 or level 1 does not matter.

Of course, it would be better for DBG to have users immediately spend the money for subscription/krono, but there will be a proportion of new heroics who will end up spending the money anyways later on subscription/EOK purchase.

So I too think it is an intentional change to the promotion. I guess I am an optimist. :)
 
Regardless i'm making like 6 of everything.. its worth the time investment to change ips and do it. If they stick around I'll be happy.

Sure i could PL a bunch of toons to 85 pretty easily, but all of them coming with gear, mounts, skills done (especially casting skills), full spellbooks/discs, and progression done in DoN and OoW is a HUGE time saver.
 
Tried with 6 different, new accounts, no heroic char offered. However, when this was announced last week, I had made 3 new accounts where at first no heroic char was available,but has now been awarded. Cannot say if this is still working or not though.

Cannot judge if this should really make a difference but the first 6 characters I launched for the first time through ISBoxer...no heroic character. The following six, also completely new accounts I launched for the first time without ISBoxer and DID receive the heroic upgrade. Strange, but seems to make a difference.
 
Isboxer has nothing to do with it, i've got clients loaded up with isboxer i'm using to log in/out of accounts np

Also have patcher up to log each new account into the patcher and accept EULA,a s you cant log in at all until you click yes on that popup.

I finished making about 100 accounts today, still working on logging them in to get heroic credit

Out of about 50ish so far 4 of them didn't get credit and had to be remade.

Important update if you're doing this!

An annoying thing if you're trying to have some sort of naming scheme for accounts is sometimes you will log all the way into the world on a new toon to unlock the heroic credit and... nothing happens!

I may have the answer

Going through making boxes for each class I early on did at least 1 or 2 of each in case they nerfed the f2p free heroics, then made the rest of the accounts all at once and have now been going through them to log in and make a random named toon and log in (turn off the tutorial), to get the credit applied, then /camp, delete the random toon and make a heroic.

Well often i'd have 1 of a class made, or 2 of a class made, and when i would log them all in at once (even the original heroic one or two i'd made) , i would usually have 1 that didn't get it. Pretty much this happened if i did 5 or more logins at once (of the characters, not accounts)

So far the fix is simply once they are all loaded into character select, only load a max of FOUR accounts into the game at once - once you see they have the heroic credit added, /camp them and wait for them to fully return to the character select before letting more toons log into the game to get the credit.

Once an account has a credit you can literally make 20 of them log in a fresh heroic from the creator at the same time - its simply logging a toon into the world for the first time to GET the credit you cant have more than 4

Anecdotal, but working for me
 
Well I knew it was going to go away soon as this was posted publicly. Fixed as of today.
 
Haha I posted this like 8 days ago (not trying to take anything away from this post, just saying), in Level 1 forum no less, so this expiring has nothing to do with Darkie's post. This was not intentional but they are not going to ban/delete, this is good business for them. Why would more active players ever be a bad thing for Daybreak? Sadly I was taking my sweet time and only made 4 :argh: who want's to be a pal and sell 2 to me for cheap? :)

Originally, I believe you were required to get an all access sub. Kronos only give you a sub for the account and game it's consumed in (not all access). If you are already all access, consuming a krono will extend the all access. So there is a question if consuming a krono will actually work for a new account created after the promotion went live.

Kronos give you all access to every game on that account. They changed this a long time ago. As far as the game is concerned, you paid for the account for 30 days.

You sure? When I went looking on the DBGs site, this is what they have listed for Krono:

When a Krono is consumed, it will add 30 days of game membership time to the account associated with the character that consumed it. If that account has an existing All Access membership, the All Access membership will be extended by 30 days. If the account has a regular game membership, that membership will be extended by 30 days. If the account has no current membership, then 30 days of regular game membership time will be added to the account.

All access = all games, regular membership = game you are playing.

I am not saying you are wrong btw =) I just quoting what is currently on the DBGs site under Krono. It's probably outdated and needs updating.

When you consume a krono it says all access on your character select. You can easily confirm for yourself by logging into another game, say EQ2 and it will say all-access as well. I used to use my 12 boxes in eq2 and eq1 to farm krono using the same 12 accounts in each game.

I already had like 60 accounts from my coming and going relationship with EQ...

Fuck it takes forever to login lol... x60 Heroic characters here I come !
 
Im a bit jealous Tone....I only had 30 that I could remember and they nixed it on new accounts before I could finish the project I was working on the buggers!
 
Can anyone confirm if this is working or not? also, can anyone confirm if it works using a CC instead of krono?
