Question - F2p question!

So I am currently realizing that my dou group is lacking dps. My question is to everyone how useful are f2p boxes. I see lots of people saying they run 5 6 people but no one ever mentions how many are f2p. Can I use a healer on f2p? Is caster or melee better f2p? Any help would be appreciated. Love to run more people but I can pay for more then 2 accounts.

You can run ftp, just get them a krono every now and again for AA's. I run a ftp cleric. I would not suggest trying to tank ftp tho, too much gear dependencies.

6 box group is commonly Tank(gold/sub) + 5 FTP toons. Some people will pick and choose a few other toons to sub. Melee with good prestige weapons can get quite a bit out of gold. You can also consider buying the Rank II spell/ability upgrade for FTP in the marketplace for 750 Daybreak points.

Tank - AC = You get to use the best armor and augs. That's really the big bonus. You can build a good FTP tank, but sub makes it easier and opens up the top level T2+ gear.

Melee - The T2 or chase weapons can be worth the DPS boost. Plus the +dmg prestige augs.

Caster - You're not getting much unless you want the cool dmg procs from some weapons or quest/raid gear. I think the rank II upgrade provides more DPS than the other bonuses from sub.

Healer - Definitely a good one to get rank II upgrade, though sub doesn't get you too much more. I think there are some prestige clicky heals though like VP quest one.

As mentioned above, people tend to burn a Krono on each toon once they're at max level and try to get all the AA before it runs out. So you keep all your AA, but don't need to stay subbed.

Thank you very much for the quick responses. That is pretty much the info I was looking for.. Now I gotta make my decision on what toons I am gonna use! I was using a SK/Bard before and the limitation at 100 is gear stopping me from getting gear with lack of dps on named. But I may also be doing something wrong.

Being different I play 2 paid accounts - my main is a Ranger with J5 healer and the other is an Enchanter with J5 tank. The other account(s) I run with them are F2P. Shaman, SK, Pally, or Mage. Each of the F2P accounts run a damage caster merc. I run 3 accounts and 3 mercs at all times. I like getting immersed into what each class can do so I lean on the mercs a lot.

I don't alternate krono but I did go paid on each F2P account one time for one month after the characters were close to level 100. During that time I did auto grant so they would have tons of AA. I don't see much benefit to being paid for alternating months after that. And there is tons of non prestige they can wear - I had no problem gearing them quite nicely in conflagrant and some lower stuff.

My tank merc and healer merc can handle EOK and GNM. I have not tried zones/expansions above those. Not interested yet.

I discovered that when I don't have enough DPS its usually because I am trying something that is above my abilities. Then I just drop down a zone and play there - I am in no hurry to finish the game:D

There are ways to use a F2P tank if you were only wanting to sub a different character as your main. It’s considerable more difficult though. Especially finding F2P augs, although I believe you could get your augs to average around 42-45ac using just non-prestige augs. There are several guides around here for that, plus you can get a whole set of 30ac augs from the heroic quests (any char can do, but just the tank augs are 30ac I believe).
