As a cleric my extended target window is always full and takes half my screen vertically. I think it would be cool if someone could develop a Lua to allow an Xtar window that can be dynamically resized into vertical, square, horizontal etc.
with options to change the bar size etc, keeping in mind that the aim is to consume as little screen real estate as possible. I am not a developer so I couldn't do it, looing for someone who knows about this stuff.

Xtargetx exists here, it's a Lua script.
I will say its a little buggy, I keep forgetting to PR a couple of fixes

Also, you could just find a custom UI piece for it?

i tried Xtargetx. Its great. I loved it. However, It crashed my eq a few times and i found it way too elaborate. I just want something like the current one, but I'd like to be able to make it horizontal, a square etc...

why not just adjust it in EQ? it lets you make some basic (vertical, horizonal, square)? if its bother you, it means your looking at that char, and takes less then 5 sec to place it..

the Xtar window can only be vertical. You cant change the shape, You can only make it taller or shorter

This isn't true, you can adjust the UI yourself (edit: irrespective of whether anything else is true).
You can also check eqinterface for custom pieces.

Not sure I understand what you are saying. My Xtar is vertical if I reshape it, it stays vertical with smaller of bigger horizontal bars. You cannot can 5 columns of 5 bars for example

He is saying that you are misinformed, politely.

The eq xtarget window can be modified in such a way that you can resize/shape the xtarget window in two columns, or 5, or 10, or whatever makes you happy. It requires a knowledge of XML to edit the file and make it do what you want or need.

In event you have zero XML knowledge, you can head on over to eqinterface and source an xtar there. Several are standalone, and several are in different packaged sets, where you can (often - not always) just rip the one file out and it'll work.

this is one such example:
