Anyone have issues with this lagging more and more until it almost hard locks during raids? It's like it just gets worse and worse video lag. I don't have this issue with any other toon. Ive tried a bunch of stuff including turning off Xtar heal ext. Anyone run into this before?

hrm nope not at all.

eq has been a pile of shit tho.

i'm curious - do you have a bunch of spell effects on this toon? some folks have reported the eq/framelimiter thing where spell effects "store" until you swap to that toon and then it explodes with a bunch of effects lagging you out

if you're not using framelimiter - you should

Kind of sidebar but I can 100% reproduce this when I have two drivers (who i enable spell effects for) logged in and tab between them.
Its actually kind comical to see in a 4th of july kinda way.

I turned off models and spells effects for that toon and it doesn't help. The rest of my crew runs great. I haven't messed with framelimiter, but I will give it a shot. I appreciate the tip

not using framelimiter is a huge mistake - eq is a shit game and terrible on resources --- let framelimiter run your background toons smoothly

Does it work better to just keep spell effects off across the board? I 100% tab around as well. It only effects my sham client. I wondered if there was some odd issue with a random display driver for just that client somehow

It is generally recommended to keep them off. I have a line on my drivers configs to turn them back on because I like them and can afford it.

I also have my frame limiter set up like Sic said. You need to do that before you mess with anything else; it is the foundation that multi-client performance is built upon.

I keep them low on all toons, and typically just me + NPC. HOWEVER, every so often, DBG takes it upon themselves to reset EVERYTHING. Not just spell effects, but "click through me", auto turn off tributes, mouse inverted axis, etc etc etc. Even the play music when start up!

I'm just to the point where I change it on the toon(s) I drive on, and deal with it when I have to go to the other toons for stuff. I am sure others are in the same boat, especially those that play 6, 12 or up to 54 toons. Can't imagine what that would be like, but I'm sure it's that much more annoying having to change settings over and over.

You either need to set your client ini to read only, load your toons in with more of a delay, or both.

I’ve noticed recently almost every time I zone my group at least one of my guys freezes up and never loads through

I've noticed recently that only some of my clients are running at 60 fps while others are running at 20-30 fps. This is with each window tested in the foreground. Eq settings are virtually identical between them. I'm not entirely sure what's causing them to slow down, but I would guess one or multiple luas are causing them to slow down. But I haven't fully looked into it yet. I've always just chalk it up to EQ just runs bad.

Again, frame limiter is the single biggest thing you can do. Any other tweaks should come after. If you haven't done that, do it.

Yeah, using flame limiter. It's also where I'm basing the fps numbers off of. I looked into it a bit using some actual logic, I noticed it was the clients with Lua viewport windows outside of the client window. No point having that on with my current computer as opposed to my normal computer, but even then I figure it might not be worth using viewports if it's going to reduce the frames by half.
