I've been following the Next development for quite a while and am super happy to see it now as the default for live. I know Brainiac has been thrown out as working towards Next for emu, but also understand that the 64 bit client changes and all the necessary work for that took a considerable amount of time.

With the recent uptick in interest for emu in general due to DBG banning, I thought there may be others who are also interested in donating to help provide some additional incentive to move the cause along.

I'd like to donate to Brainiac specifically at least initially $50 and will also pledge to donate $100 on the release of Next for the emu ROF2 client. If there are multiple people working on bringing Next to emu, I'm fine breaking up donations to all involved, but Brainiac has been the one I've seen consistently mentioned as either working on it or likely to work on it.

Also, mods, if this type of post is not permissible/acceptable, I apologize, please take it down and pm me.

All that being said, @brainiac, where's the best place to donate to you, and is there any general place to donate towards Next development in general or is it just towards specific developers due to the disperse nature of the effort? I know that there are at least a few others on my emu server that have also indicated that they would be happy to donate towards this effort, so I thought I'd throw a post up here and see who else is willing to put up donations to help hopefully bump the priority up a bit. Obviously, this is no formal contract or anything of that nature, Brainiac or anyone else is under no obligation to work on anything they don't want to work on, but my $100 pledge for a Next running on emu is real.

My hope is that others will also offer some public support for the project as well. Also, thanks to everyone who's kept EQ being an option to play for over 20 years now.

This is the alternative pathway that I was waiting for. A boycott (or partial boycott, in my case as an addict) takes cash away from the party in disagreement (Daybreak Games, providers of a defective mercenaries). Furthermore, supporting an alternative service (which automates 5 "mercenaries" to complete group content without LFG issues), allows us to vote with our wallets. Red Guides software is the perfect companion to the incomplete mess that is modern EverQuest.

I was checking out alternatives to make it a full boycott. Standing Stone Games (providers of Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeons & Dragons Online) is also part of Enad Global 7, so I am boycotting them as well.

The title of this YouTube video is "What MMO should you play?" For those who still enjoy other goal-directed games, it was a good discussion of what else is out there. EverQuest is even featured at 21 minutes in. I am still playing Total War: Warhammer III (not a MMO), but Guild Wars 2 (MMO) looks like an interesting alternative. If it turns out to be a good substitute, I can cancel all my gold accounts and not worry about withdrawal.

(Sometime in the future) "What's a krono?"

I made a donation to the EQ Emulator people as well. I saw 693 characters logged into Project Lazarus, but I could not find a "donate" button there. The future looks brighter already.

On the laz server discord there's a server-donations channel with the info there (discord link https://discord.com/invite/qmSGhJq ) Also, on the laz wiki (www.lazaruseq.com) at the top of the page it mentions donations as well, but I think that's a holdover from before he made the #server-donations channel in the Discord:

This Wiki is a collaborative effort of the Administrators and Players of the Project Lazarus EQ Emulated Server. If you have been on Lazarus for a while (60+ days) and you'd like to contribute, contact Dhaymion in the Project Lazarus Discord server.

For anyone else that's looking for a good spot to emu, Project Lazarus has been great for me. I've been there over a year now and have had a blast the whole time. They're still actively working on new content, active and helpful GM community, active player base, and Dhaymion is involved in keeping the server moving forward through a variety of means. I've been in a raiding guild there since a bit before Omens released and we've had a phenomenal time breaking into and then running Anguish. There's some custom loot in Anguish, but pretty much all of the gear has been modified in Anguish as well as tons of custom augs to keep you busy for a while even after you hit 70 and are just grinding out AA.

That would be awesome to have MQ properly working for EMU.
Thanks for the effort

Might want to make a public post of this with links and drop it in the appropriate EQEmu Discord. Others not at RG can donate to the project as well.

please don't. if you want to bring that topic up separately over there that is for you to decide but please don't take this thread over to eqemu, thank you.

to everybody else: thank you for your support.

I gave $50 above and willing to throw in $100 more when complete as the original offer.. I have a feeling most of the issues I'm having with April 2021 version go away if EMU kept current. Thanks.

My donation for MQ "Next" on Emu! I just came back after a long absence from MQ2 and OH how I've missed this. Playing on the Project Lazarus server and loving it. I can't wait for the MQ "Next" release for emulated servers. Thanks for all of your hard work!

Just supporting the cause. It is a great privilege to openly be a "superhero" without the haters.

As promised.

For anyone that didn't know, the next emu branch has been published, and while it's still in a beta stage, it's definitely close enough for me. Thanks brainiac and anyone else who has been working with you to make this happen!

Thanks brainiac (and anyone else) for your continued work to get mqnext usable for emu. Here's $100 for your past and continued efforts. I look forward to trying this out and the bright future it represents for the emu community. Looking forward to its eventual release in the patcher. <3

Most appreciated

Been MIA a while but popped back in and saw this thread. I'd actually donated to this cause in recent past.

I'll gladly toss another donation when we have it just downloadable. I'd look into compiling it but I've been incredibly busy to the point of not even being able to play right now. Hoping to get some free time to jump in again in the near future.
