Hey guys,

Coming back from a 20 year leave formerly of Vallon Zek I've started fresh on FV.

I'm using a full group on FV server. SK(Tank), BST, Mage, Wizard, Shaman + Journyman Cleric.(Group is all level 73/74 right now, will stay in current spot till 75)

I've been figuring things out from scratch on leveling, been really happy about it.

However, even with long hours, full day and nights, gear just doesn't drop enough.

Due to the fast leveling I've done, gear and plat(for gear and spells) has been a serious issue.

I came back dreaming of becoming a master plat farmer, that is my goal. To be the Warren Buffett of FV.

The Defiant gear helps, but again, elaborate hasn't been dropping well.

So here is what I need, advice on the best spots for 1: plat/high value sell items, 2: Gear (to use and sell), and 3: Experience.

Places that are great for one, 2, or a great balance of the 3 things I'm looking for would be highly appreciated.

I've been looking through the guides here, but, it's 2024 and I was hoping for some fresh answers, for my fresh start.

Glad to be part of the community, I hope to contribute guides in the future to give back to it more than my membership, so thank you everyone in advance.

You may need to adjust your expectations.

Normally, I'd say buy a krono and sell it for plat. The $10-$15 will net you 5-10M which should go a long way on FV.

Krono goes for 6 - 6.5 mil, and isn't worth what you'd expect.

Um, I'm not sure what you think my expectations are as of right now, I mentioned my aspiration not what I expect in the level 70s...

My only expectation is to learn and improve, which is what I'm asking advice for....

Currently, as mentioned, I'm severely under geared and looking to improve that as quick as possible.

Anyway, Buying plat per krono wasn't what I was looking for but I appreciate the attempt.

I would say this. It’s the easiest way to get the plat you need. You will come across a lot of cheap gear but sometimes you reach a level range where the prices are quite inflated and just buying a kr helps smooth it all out.

Outside of buying play check out

You can find drops to camp to get some gear. That’s gonna be your best bet.

I’d say forget fv and play on test where you can get millions mailed to you almost as soon as you tell general chat you’re new !

Should be able to get TBM currency from the scaled heroic missions to buy gear and also year of the darkpaw missions are fairly easy for decent gear.
Plat at your lvl any could try underfoor zones, once about 80 try house of thule.

Keep in mind, you will outgrow your armor very quickly up to 80ish, so I wouldn't worry about investing too much in it.

Same for spells, just get the basic necessity ones.

Do the Anniversary Tower for tokens which you can use to buy gear from that merchant https://special.eqresource.com/yearofdarkpaw.php

The Daily Hot zone from Franklin Teek in POK will get you a choice of 1 of 3 items and for casters or melee. Simple kill 5 mobs. Get more than one at the same time cause it locks you out for 24 hours if you get just one. Sell the excess gear to npc or see what it's going for in baz and set up a trader if better. And there are special augs that drop there.

Do "The Farm" in Dragonscale Hills for good exp. Loot and sell everything - lots of spells drop here . https://www.almarsguides.com/eq/leveling/SoD/Locations/PostMercNoobZones/DragonScaleHills.cfm

I can attest , this is true.

Additionally, gear wise Defiant gear is good for a long time.. and if you're on test you can usually buy solid weapons for 1pp.

Who was your character back on Zek?

70+ is a nightmare trying to do it on your own. I just tried last month ended up giving in and finding a 100 too to pl me in hot. Selling a krono's is about the only way to actually do it. GL

@EQGuy2024

/barter, run a blank search on your server
figure what on that list you can farm...eqtraders isbgreat for this...
set a bot to farm that...

repeat, lather, rinse...

then buy and sell krono for profit...till you can farm ultrarares for coin

I'd love to farm the tower but I believe that's a Teek server only event.

Selling a Krono is a good starting point. It gives you the flexibility to gear up and not have to worry about how much it costs.

At 75 go do the quests for TBM (do a search for it here, all kinds of write ups on it). You will get a whole level out of the quests but best of all you can now purchase Preserving gear for Remnants of Tranquility. You can buy these from a lot of sources (again do a search) such as the Bazaar and players. This gear is great in one way. It is upgradable every 5 levels to level 105, just by changing out the augs. and it is more than comparable to anything else out there except raid gear.

But don't get the Invisibles though (Jewelry), instead go do the Anniversary Tower stuff. You get all new stuff every 10 levels and it is pretty good. Definitely enough for leveling.

Follow Redmonkey's advice from above, good stuff. Don't forget about Gribble's tasks at 75.

And good luck on this..."To be the Warren Buffett of FV", there are a few players, here especially, that have quite a jump on you in that department lol. (Like I am talking billions here)

And remember what is always said about this game..."It is better to enjoy the ride than to go too fast and miss it". GL man.

No, its all servers. but they talk a lot about it on Teek.

This is why I put the link in my post so you could see where to start

Broken Key of Sands
Oasis of Sand

And its all year till December. Except for the ones marked collects - those can only be done in the month they are listed but the rest are all available.

Welcome back and welcome to FV!

Since your main goal is to make plat figured I'd give you some tips.
As the others have already mentioned, you should buy 1 krono now for RL cash (if you have the option) and sell it for PP, price is about 6.5m right now.
This is so you can gear up and level up faster, because if you want to start making plat, you need to max or close to max level. Because that's when you can start offering things that are of value to others.

Once you hit level 100, use some of that plat to buy TA's to become Paragon of TOV, this means someone will run 4 missions for you and add you to the task so you get the completion rewards, which is XP that will take you from 100 to 110 in under one hour.

And once you are high level enough yourself, you can start selling these TA's yourself, this is a quick way to generate plat without need to farm/sell stuff.
As for keeping a bazaar mule, augs sell really well. I've sold alot of TOL (Terror of Luclin expansion and NOS (Night of shadows expansion) for around a million each.
Also, items from heritage crates, which you can buy from DB points sell really well aswell. Each time you sub 1 account, you get enough DB points to buy 1 crate.

These are some of the ways I use to make some plat.

And just to expand a bit on Redmonkey's post above there is a guy named Aeth that has some great short video's on Youtube that describe how to get each key.

Aeth's playlist

Also, if you get into this, and you probably will, then get the Lua for the Tower Anniversary, the guy who makes is doing a really good job on it. You know how it is in this game. You go through some of these quests and tasks a couple of times and then they lose their...flavor or excitement. In other words they become frickin boring. This is the thing that gets talked about the least in EQ as far as complaints go. Used to be people complained about getting carpal tunnel from the repetition. Now it is "boring" (which it always has been). MQ solves a lot of the repetition with these utilities. As far as I am concerned, just makes my life a lot easier. Sorry rant off.

For the hours you’ll farm gear you will be better off heroic’ing the toons to get them all at the same playing field.

You are in luck. I can offer you as much help as you need on FV. I do it for everyone. Once you get to level 125 making plat is easy. Just do missions. And sell what you get. And do tradeskills as boring as it seems. I make 500k to 2 million plat a night. As a low estimate. And I don't even pay attention to what sells. I just sell old gear and new gems and backpacks
And reload my 6 sellers to make an easy ten Krono a month without trying. Or really paying attention. Send me a PM for help on FV that goes for everyone!

Since you mentioned you don't want to purchase a krono, you're approach to the balance as you level will have to change if you're looking to make a bunch of plat.

The best way to make plat 1-80 will be selling tradeskill components, some tradeable quest items if there is a demand, farming zones that drop plenty of diamonds/vendor trash (SoF+), selling defiant gear.

Unfortunately as well this will include learning a bit about what people doing tradeskills tend to focus on using, as well as what quest items are worth farming. You may need to spend some time killing light blue/green mobs if the profit is good in order to help yourself get caught up on gear and spells.

take it slow and don't rush because once you hit level 80, HoT T1 gear is useable and will pretty much set your path ingame for you by letting you advance through tiers. (example, hit lvl 90 in HoT content and if you can handle argath, start moviing into VoA and upgrade gear as you go). By level 100 you'll start hitting some zones which are hotbeds for crafting materials as the HoT+ expacs do bring easy recipes to grind the 1-300+ trophy on.

At 75 you can start HAs (make sure you do into the temple a/b as well) in TBM and CotF which will give currency thats a great way to get caught up on augs and gear. Just beware that 2 levels prior to the next tier point, mobs take a large jump in difficulty and can be quite difficult until you upgrade again.

I just completed the path from 75 to 90 on a brand new set of accounts.

At 75 I focused on gearing my tank doing the Hero's Journey progression. I kept the rest of my team in defiant and the occasional named drop.

Oceangreen -> Bloody Kithicor -> Field of Scale

I was basically broke this entire time from buying spells and tomes. I purchased nothing else.

At 85 the spells costs radically decrease, and the vendor drop value increased. Once my tank was geared in Paragon I went to HoT. Farming HoT and The Grounds got me from 85 to 93, and I've also made about 250k in just vendor drops. The grounds has great drops for non-visibles, weapons, and you get a ton of recondite orbs for gearing up visible slots.

It feels like I've finally turned the corner on being completely broke and the gear level of my characters has finally caught up. You really feel the game get harder at 75 as defiant starts to run out of steam, but focus on the tank, and by 90 you should be sorted out. Every little step stacks up.

Wow Capital0

Props on your persistence level bud. A complete set of Paragon? Man, I quit before I got the 2nd piece. All those collection quests on 6 toons was just too much for me.

And wtg on 90, grats.
