crash and unable to startup the game

i could take a look at the dmp if you wanted to PM me the file - it would be in your MQ2 -> Release -> Logs folder.

it is probably unlikely that it is going to show anything useful (to me), but i don't mind taking a peak just in case.

keep in mind there may be some personal information in there like toon name or server.

that crash appears to imply a dx crash of someking - I would double check that you have the DX9.0c

also, just the obligatory "mq/mq2 is not supported for truebox servers, so if you're trying to log into a truebox server it can and will crash you out"

unfortunately those 3 dmps don't really show anything that would point me in the right direction (skill limitation).

however, I noticed you're launching via steam - I'm not personally familiar with eq through steam, but do you have something like steam overlay turned on? if so it might be worth turning that off and trying again (after checking out that dx link)

This is your stack frame, and at my skill level, it doesn't have anything that is too useful in there.

your actual exception:

I did go through your plugin list to see if you had any "frequent offenders" that might cause a crash with a bad config, but there was nothing of interest there.

my best guess is steam/dx9 related

well I have tried it out its not related to steam silent because I have also installed eq in another directory independently
both steam / non steam silent crashing with MQ2 on , and able to launch game when I switch off MQ2
maybe I should let you use team viewer to remote on my computer if you are willing to do it ?

Does it work without MQ?

Did you install from DPG site? If not, download the installer from there and give it a shot. It’ll install the right DirectX. I noticed last time I installed via steam it skipped the directx install.

d3d9 issues i would check if you have any overlay softwares that are running that may also be trying to draw to the game window.

yeah that was my thought too with asking about overlays like steam overlay

Its actually not an update. The Direct X 9c is an old version that for some reason is needed on some EQ installs. The newer Direct X will overwrite the old version sometimes and that is why we link the 9C for a separate download. So you actually wind up with the newer version and the old.

Windows comes with the latest directx9.
on modern windows directx9 isn’t really directx9 anymore, they reimplemented it on top of directx 12.
The installer just gets you some optional support files of deprecated dlls that games are supposed to ship with them.

ok I just test with a fresh install windows I don't even have steam installed on it and this is still happening
I wish I can just enjoy multi boxing EQ like you guys !!
