A very sincere thanks to those who have supported and maintained MQ for so many years. Your efforts deserve our respect and thanks at a bare minimum!

Also, a special thanks to the new folks who have stepped in to try to take over the maintenance of something we all love and enjoy! Your efforts are appreciated more than you will know.

I have lived on test for quite some time, I am cautiously optimistic to continue. With the recent efforts I've put into LAZ I'm sure I'll bounce back and forth.

My utmost gratitude and applause for all of the team. I fully expected it to be at least a patch cycle before a new build appeared and you guys put those worries to rest!

100%

I believe the old devs and new devs and everyone in between are doing the best they can in good-faith. Hopefully that results in many more years of mq/eq and redguides.

Congrats! Soo happy that y'all managed to step up!

I will roll the dice with MQ as I always have. Potentially getting banned is far better than the alternative, which is quitting EQ for good!

Things are looking up! Thanks to all past and present contributors. Change can be scary and we will continue to get better. Here is to more EQ 🙂

Thanks to all the new devs (and old devs) for all their hard work! Personally though, I'll wait a few months (and some possible ban waves) before I consider returning :)

Having personally taken over other developers code bases in the past, and hearing Knightly warning against using a particular build, I'll error on the side of trusting him. Hopefully the bumps in the road are manageable as the new devs learn all the ins and outs!

Just wanted to say thank you, so so much for working so hard for the community. I know I will be donating to you all shortly. Appreciate it very much. Playing without MacroQuest while doable, is certainly not my preferred style of play. Really looking forward to this !

What sort of signs have been added that show they are using new detection methods? Doesn't surprise me, but I am curious. They aren't stupid, they can look at someone running a box crew running raid targets and see the automation, so they can ban whoever they want at the end of the day, but it seems like what I've seen since I took a suspension last year for a week, is that they scan your computer for known programs, for me it was MySEQ on a truebox server, I didn't know because I hadn't played in 5 years. But I know the scanning is common knowledge nowadays.

What I noticed is just more automation behind their cheat detection, seemed like it was an automated suspension.

Edit: Read the thread more, I really hope things get figured out, and either way, thanks to everyone. Would suck to get an automated ban because it was detected. I trust everyone working on it, and I believe this is the start of a new era. Will have to see what happens!

One other bug I'm experiencing(if you all are still wanting bug reports). MQ2Rez is clicking yes on the initial rez popup but isn't clicking the respawn button after.

This is AMAZING news! Thank you to those who are stepping up. With that being said, will we all be able to do something similar to "Tip the Dev's" for the new team once they are up and running and things are back on track? I can only speak for myself, but I'm guessing many others would be willing as a big thank you to them.

Great News and a real big congratulations to the Team.

Also, a huge thankyou to the past Team. I hope you will stay within the community for many more years.

I didn't see Knightly's post as anything more than a warning - and it should be treated as such without getting defensive. We should ALL be friendly here.

Knightly brought up good points. Do not run this on accounts you care about. I cannot stress that enough.

This is a big codebase. Many components to take into account. Huge learning curve.

Huge thanks to the folks that have brought this project this far, and to the new people now working to keep it going on into the future!

It gives me tremendous hope to see that happening that we will get to keep enjoying this game.

I understand there may be some risk & bumps in the road coming, but I'm more than happy to take the slings & barbs of random suspensions/bans as things get figured out, that's just the risk we take in general!

Thank you all for picking up the torch! Where can I send some support for the team? Coffee, beers?

anything like that, for the time being, msg redbot - currently we don't have it all sorted on "who/what the team is" and yesterday was a bit deflating for some folks --- but redbot can take down your info/wellwishes and then figure out what we wanna do with it

Why are folks (who are not part of the dev team) pushing hard to monetize MQ?
Particularly when its been stated many times that its time and rather than money that's the issue. And while money is somewhat fungible, time is most definitely not.

As Darkwynd said, not everyone in this community can contribute code, time, or technical skills. Some of us are just players who rely on MQ to enjoy the game. Offering money is the only way we have to say 'we see you, we appreciate you, please keep going.'

And the 'time not money' argument, while technically true, undersells what compensation can actually do. If a dev can offset some real life bills through community support, that's time freed up elsewhere. I'd wager that the previous devs would have kept updating MQ if they were pulling in X amount of $ per month from updating MQ...whether that X is 1 grand, 10 grand, 100 grand, 1 million, or 1 billion $, I don't know, but unfortunately in the society we live in, money can, in fact, for most of us, buy time.

If throwing some money their way makes even one dev feel like the effort is worth continuing, that seems pretty valuable to me.

They are undercover DBG trying to THJ MQ/RG ... kidding of course 😆

I'd assume positive intent. Many people can't contribute coding skills so they're offering what they can - in this case compensation.
This.

People mean well. And to be blunt, money brings options/choices with it.

Don’t want to have golden handcuffs and a business model tied to the generosity of others in updating builds? Pay for it.

I don’t know much about coding, open source, or half of what gets talked about here or many of the rules. But any business model that’s 100% dependent upon someone volunteering time is a critical dependency and a huge risk. You mitigate the risk through redundancy and ensuring legacy/tribal knowledge transfers.

Hopefully that reads the right way. Brain and team have been generous with their time for years and we’ve all benefited from it. If it were a “money thing” to them, this would have come up long ago.

does this mean we can purchase plugins again?
no, if you could you would be able to. :p

need to see what wednesday looks like - and there are some big valid concerns brought up in this discussion thread that everyone is (and should be) taking seriously. (despite a very small handful of really negative voices seem to think)

as soon we we have a better idea of what things will look like going forward we will definitely be sure to communicate it

appreciate your desire for the sweet cwtn goodness
cwtn/i are always going to do our very good-faith best --- we're also eq players with a long deep passion for the game and have each had some really hard emotional blows from DBG over the years.

Addclickies in the CWTN plugins are also not firing with this build. Didn't even notice it until this morning. I tried a couple in burns, downtime and offensive on 3 toons/classes to verify.
