Request - Compilation of Useful Things

Hi, Brain Trust

I know there are a ton of useful resources both here, and on DBG official forums that will help us advance our game play, characters, and knowledge of EQ. The problem is, at least for me, I simply don't know WHAT I'm looking for! I'm hoping that in that regard, someone, everyone(?) can help me out! As a bit of background, I've played EQ since 2000 as a casual gamer, with very short bouts of raiding along the way. I've never been hard core, and it wasn't until COVID-Vacation that I even had a max level character. Now, sadly (?) I have about 8 max level characters, and I'm mostly maxxed out in AA's. I'm grinding through the Earring quests, and am near to finishing that. However, and to the point of my post:

It wasn't until today that I learned I can go ahead and kill raid trash and loot the Diamonized Ore for Type 18/19's. I don't need to complete the raid, but can still advance my character/gear. So, my question: do you know of any items/tasks/quests that an average player might not know about? For example:

1) Old Man McKenzie - This Macro helps with the OMM missions, which I assume are directed at looting the Staff of Forbidden Rites. My box group consists of a paladin and cleric, though I do have a shaman alt that I'll work on these for. Are there other reasons to run this? (Bard illusion mask?)

2) ToV T1/T2 Raid Trash - As mentioned earlier, today I learned the ores and luck augs can drop off of raid trash. There are plenty of resources for Type 18/19 augs, and which ones to go for (including the helpful post here.)

3) Fragment Farm - This marco is awesome for farming the fragments which can advance your Tears of Alaris. +5% Defense Type 3 Aug. I kind of skipped VoA, so I didn't have my Tear even started, let alone evolved.

4) While Jande's Artisan Prize Macro is amazing (and by amazing, I mean, amazing!), stuff like this post is extremely useful to a somewhat casual player like myself.
4a) Finding recipes in EQTC is easy enough, but posts like this one really help me focus on what items are "useful" within the expansion.

5) Food/Drink Consumption - I think I'd been using RedGuides for several months before I ran across this Utility that helped me keep my stat food.

6) When hunting for Keys in ToFS, if you /tar #, it'll target the nearest trigger mob for the key spawn. (e.g., it'll target whatever returned shadow beast on floor one you need to kill in order to spawn the key mob).

7) Defender of the Faithful Heart - Useful Stat buff clicky if you're not running a Shaman/Beastlord in your box!

I know there are others that I find useful/helpful, and I'll happily update this as (if?) comments/threads are pointed out. For what it's worth, I'm not necessarily looking for a "here's a list of useful clickies!" (There's a wealth of available clicky items found in @Phinagrin99's KissAssist Bard Ini!!) and there are a ton of other links in the forum that list those. I guess I'm just looking for things that I may have missed along the way, and resources to help me (or someone like me!) figure them out!

MQ2discord is great if you want you leave your toons going at work. You can set up posse, then communicate with anyone that walks by. You can respond to camp check etc in ooc.

GTFO Mac is crucial is you’re going to afk

I've not toyed with GTFO! I need to go do some research! Granted, I don't often do true AFK fighting, but on those few occasions! Thank you!

Not to hijack your thread but clearing ToV raid trash is a really good way to test the effectiveness of your group. I usually wipe a few times each clear!

Hey thanks for the mention! TBH OMM mission for bard illusion is essential! i mean you've read my post, your a BARD! GET ALL DA ILLUSIONS!!!!! and Raidloot.com is an amazing tool for finding out about those old world twink items that most classes have to ensure you can min/max your stats. Like check out Seeds of Destruction expansion for those special type 3's to fill out the rest of your slots.

Definitely not a hijack at all! These are the tips I'm looking for, so I truly appreciate it! Other than the ores/luck augs, is there anything else in the raid trash I should be on the look out for?

Thanks for the tip on Seeds of Destruction! My type 3's are...lacking so glad to have the input! To be fair, my bard is only a month old, so I'm still working on his essentials....and your ini was awesome! Granted, I don't have like 75% of what's in there, but it was a great starting point for me to work from.

Those SOD type 3s add only unfocused damage to your base attack. So something like https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=81816 that says "Backstab +14" literally adds only 14 points of damage to your backstab attack. In the modern game, that's barely pissing in the wind. LDON has better type 3 options, but your best type 3s are going to be the focus augs that are vendor sold in each expansion's entry zone.

Good to know, thanks @SA_krycek - right now the toons all have the Type 3's from EW, but I've not done the research to see if there was/is anything better out there!
