No real point to make here, other than to relate what just happened to me. Y'all already know the lesson I learned, so I'll just say continued Good Luck.

Was running warp version of Taskmaster AFK in Dreadlands. Came back to the keyboard to find the macro had noted the presence of a GM in the zone and was in limbo mode. A Guide was hanging around SAYing stuff in my vicinity (no TELLs). Was muttering about the Outpost and Overthere. I decided to endmac and run back to POK. He followed (like auto-follow, real close). SAID hey you, stop. I looked around and ran back to him, who me? He repeated what appeared to be a canned spiel. So I decided to play dumb (he was lvl 35) and said I'd lead him to Overthere, via POK. Started running to FV, him on my heels...my PC crashed...re-booted, re-logged, there he was at my side. He said there you are!, and I gave my re-boot sob story and said let's go. He followed me to the POK stone in FV, zoned to POK with me, followed to the OT stone, zoned to OT....asked me to follow to the bank. I said I was KOS in there, so he ran in and brought back a gift for me. I refused the trade, then accepted, then announced dinner plans and logged.

1. DL tasks are not a good idea right now, what with it being a hot zone (aye, you all knew that already...I'm just stupid)

2. Don't know if I'll make the sh*t list or not since the macro stopped me dead in my tracks (but he could have observed me before that...time will tell...and THANKS to the macro-maker for at least arranging the pretense of non-macroing)

3. Interesting how it played out. It will also be interesting to see if I'm shadowed when I log in with a different toon on the same account.

He was doing a rolepaying quest. I find the story very funny as he didn't have a clue what you were MQ2'ing. If he did he would have broke away from the quest and handed you over to the CSR team.

Its against Policy and Procedures to handle CSR issues during any type of Quest or Event. If he was just doing roleplaying, then he/she could have handled the matter as soon as possible.

Most likely a Guide...however after scanning the acceptable Guide Quests, I don't see any that relate to pulling a player through a zone they are "at risk" in. Again, a violation of the Policy and Procedure which makes me think that they're a n00b Guide, or you were dealing with a GM.

You really should read the write-up I did about misconceptions. Your account, regardless of what toon you're on, has whats called a PID *Player ID Number* that a GM will track and shadow you with. If you're red-flagged at this point, they're going to watch you from /hideme or logs.

So...what was the GM wearing or can you remember what they were holding in their primary/secondary? That's the first thing I look for when I'm dealing with one of them. What color was their name? All of these things will tell you who you were dealing with.

Got me on that one. I typed before I thought. It's in "black and white" in the P&P ....

I had just read your write-up earlier in the day (twas a good one!). WHO revealed him as a Guide. Don't think he had any weapons. Yes, I read and understood the PID; that's why I thought I might be shadowed under another toon (...evidence that I was on someones radar screen...). I can't say that I noticed the color of his name; he was pretty much behind me as I was running along (although he overran me once when I stopped abruptly!?). The gift I received was Bag of Tinkerers (5000p, tribute or cash!), so I the quest angle seemed to make sense.....but if it's not an acknowledged quest...

'Preciate the comments. I'll pay closer attention should something similar happen again and hopefully contribute some real field intelligence.

There is one quest that _begins_ in OT played by a gnome, but its supposed to _end_ in Firona Vie, no use of PoK stones allowed...There is a quest that requires most PC's to be Gnome race.....what I'm going off of is the Bag of the Tinkerers...Odd, that's all...Unless the NDCS approved some random idea, that's the only thing I could think of.

Duh, he's probally a current or a recently retired/fired guide. Good to have him around in either case.

I just did a quest like this a week or two ago, the guide or whoever was in pok as an ogre lvl 35 no gear that was asking for help, he wanted me to rescue his sister, I followed him to cazic thule, found his sister on the map and wandered a bit in her direction till I 'found' her, led her out and got same backpack as a reward, it had a few ogre vendor drinks in it and a potion of serious healing. I knew he was a guide or gm because he was lvl 35 but didnt show up at all on eqplayers. also when he ran off with his sister they faded away still running, not like a log out, just faded slowly away.

This has to be a GM quest because I'm not seeing it on the Guide's list of approved quests. I see a few different escort quests as I've mentioned before, but none that involve either race described above. Also, there are two quests and one event that has been approved to run in the last 2 1/2 weeks ending sometime this week, but they have nothing do to with an escort quest.

So I guess the questions now would be "Did this person show up on the MQ2 GM Notification, be it from your HUD or from the VIP Plugin (If you have that)?"

By the way, I've seen players completely not show up on EQPlayers before that were really just players.

All in all, this may be a server specific quest that will not show up on the main list of quests. You both have me somewhat stumped on this one.

This person was identified by the GM check in AdvtaskWarp (.../if (${Bool[${Spawn[gm].ID}]}), etc ). He was also identified as a Guide when listing users in the zone (...with noanon Docrack in effect). He did appear on my map, albeit with MQ2Map loaded.

What I'm trying to figure out is how often this quest can be preformed so that if you're in DL running AdvTaskWarp or whichever prefered macro you'll have a good idea how long it should be before they are scheduled to show up. It can be anything from once every day to once every month, to historical like the Grobb War, which technically will only happen again on the Progression (The Combine) Server.

I would highly doubt that they're running these quests to prevent MQ'ers from running AdvTaskWarp because there's a good bit of Guides that have no clue what MQ even is. Those who do tend to be anal. The reason is most likely since the recent change to hot-spots. I would expect these "encounters" to decrease over the coming weeks as the "newness" of these hot-spots wears off.

Alright , well...

Class A: This Quest May Not Be Run For Another 21 Days

Arrud D`Zyrlle is a Dark-Elf male lost in the middle of Dreadlands. He seeks a few adventurers to escort him safely to the outpost in The Overthere.

He is hesitant on accepting aid from the lighter races, as it is they who got him into this predicament. He was fooled into believing there was a grand castle he could buy in the middle of Dreadlands. He went to check it out, when his escort of light race slaves abandoned him, leaving him stranded and alone. He will accept their aid, but only as a last resort.

Of course, believing he is far superior of those around him, he may accidentally swat a few creatures along the way to The Outpost, for being disrespectful. Of course, he would only make examples of those creatures he knew his group could handle.

on a side note, my cleric was doing taskmaster intensively a few months ago.
one day the same stuff happened to me, escort ot OT, then I received as a gift a Bag of the Thinkerers
3 days later cleric has been banned.

No ban notice yet. I haven't run tasks in DL since, but I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I guess the reason I didn't find it is because I was trying to go by topic of escort. What's odd though is the fact that the others stated it was a race other than Dark Elf. Oh well. 21 Days from the date it is run is the final answer.
