Looking for something to do. Are there any missions that are easier with mq2 than others? Grikors is impossible, sorry, I must suck. Not as easy as it looks on YouTube. I was going to try trails of smoke, but toons keep getting ported on other side of the zone and not being able to come back though the gate.

I have no idea how people can keep everything tight and on point. Best I can do it pull and spank/tank. I must be doing something wrong. I am completely frustrated with this game and mq2 for sure. I should go back to the xbox.

So yea, I need something to do where not everything will start running around... thats it, what can I do, other than pull and spank.tank that does not require following and falling off cliffs because that just Fs everything up.

so first things first.

You need to assess your goals, and your ability to meet those goals.

in your other post you mentioned beast's domain, so if you're going from content like beast's domain into TBL missions or ToV missions - you're going to have some struggles.

Assuming you're in the 110-115 range (since you mentioned tbl/tov stuff). I would recommend doing a couple of things:
(this is in no way exhaustive or complete and is just my quick $.02 but hopefully, it can give you some pointers).

EverQuest is a game of inches - it takes time and there isn't a whole lot of instant-gratification and instant-unsuck.

1. set goals
- go down this list and revisit as needed
-- don't bite off more than you can chew. eq is a "long game" game... it takes time to be bringing the pain.
--- try and be patient for yourself as you work towards those goals, many people you see doing stuff have been doing this for YEARS
---- also don't sell yourself short, my toons aren't anything special - just solo group geared plebs but with some hard work, a bunch of time, and some help from folks with mq2 tips and tricks I can do all the content i have set goals to complete.

2. assess your crew
- get any tov t1 pieces you can (should be cheapish on bazaar) they are usable at 110 and blow everything else out of the water, they're awesome
-- you need to take a look at your augments for all your toons - rolling into current content with half gear and empty augments is painful.
--- Augments, mentioned in last point, but mentioned again for emphasis
---- AAs - do you, more or less, have appropriate aas for the content you're trying to do?
----- epics for toons that should still have them (sk, cleric, bard, zerk, etc) for many classes they are still very important.

3. understand how to manage your crew
- know what situations you can and can not handle - so you can set yourself up for sucess and avoid failures.
-- knowing that getting in lava/water/holes is bad - you can better setup yourself in somewhere that avoids those things.
--- practice team management - I talk about this in several of the youtube videos, but managing your team is a very under appreciated thing early on. Knowing how to adjust your team when things goes sideways is the difference between winning and losing. It is easy once you have stuff "on farm" to go in and mop it up --- but GETTING there is much harder - and it comes down to the basics.

4. do some older content which helps you get some "experience" (irl mq2 experience) under your belt
- if you're in the 110/115 range, doing EoK progression should be fairly easy for you, but still rewarding (plat, AA, maybe some gear, augments) and gives you a less threatening approach to practice the stuff in 2

5. get a friend or two - especially someone else who's boxing.
- having someone to hang with and/or learn with/from is HUGE, as you can get a diff perspective or experience base to work from.
-- there are plenty of mellow casual friendly guilds that are boxer friendly these days.

5. revisit these frequently

Thank you very much for your advice. I do watch your video's and use some of you INI (beastlord) to try to be as efficient as possible.

My toons are not that bad geared, all 6 are in T1 ToV, except my tank, who has pieces of Ice encrusted, including a tower shield, amice, and some t3 players crafted gear, which is probably what I should be farming atm. I was on an augment hunting spree, and that's partially why I am trying to get though BL.

I returned to the game with a 56 mage after taking 13 years off. I heroiced her to 85 and started HoT. I joined and am still part of an awesome guild that has boxers also. I started boxing after seeing other people do it, and never being able to find a steady group.

Now I have 6 toons, all 115, all (sort of) maxed AA's. (Class and archetype). I used mq2war for the tank and ini for everyone else, but I am tempted to try other mq2 plugins. I run WAR, CLR, ENC, MAG, WIZ, BST.

I just have to admit that the pathing in some zones is going to hamper my goals... which I should organize..

I have everything for my mag 1.5 epic, I need more pieces for t3 crafted gear and I need more augs. Im trying to get that AC type 5 aug in Miraguls. I just got everyone 10% dodge PoW augs also.

number 3 is what I need to focus on, I think I am taking big bites and want to rush to the end.

Thanks for the insight.

Griklors is actually very easy if you’re set up right, and have the dps. Your crew sounds like they should be able to handle it.

Here’s what I recommend as someone who has never been able to get griklors to work as per the guides ( I could never get him to drop at the point where the guides say he will drop) so what I do, is follow him round until he drops then kill him.

First of all you want switch with MA on so if you switch targets your group will swap with your assist and not try to keep following Grik. You want it set so that you will use All your burns, and you want chase on so your group will follow you around. And you want assist to 100% for immediate action when he drops down

You say fight to the start dude, then I use /tar Grik to pick him up on my target. His ring will appear on the ground, follow him around. Occasionally he’ll do his AE, stop and allow your healer to top you up from that damage once it hits, then follow him again. At some point he’ll drop down, and at this point you want to go full burn on him immediately. If you have enough dps, you will burn him to ashes and then you win (usually with a few adds that are easy to dispatch with your burns still running)

If you didn’t have enough dps, at this point you will need to kill the adds, then follow him again, the same as when you started and repeat the process until he drops again.

just one other point, you say youre geared in ToV t1 - does this include none visables? if not, i found a very good place to gear up was GMM. the drops there are very similar to ToV t1 but the mobs are significantly easier to kill. you can farm the darkness howls HA, or just farm the nameds in the static zones. i spent a lot of time there before i moved to ToV

It sounds like you need some practice just moving about and using chase, and camp and lots of the little things that make boxing 3 or 6 or 54 possible.

Having some Hotkeys, and going to some lower lvl zone to practice is time well spent. When u have one toon using a plugin, and others doing KA or Mule assist then it can get confusing with camp or not camped and shit can get crazy really quickly.

SIC has some great examples of hotkeys (The links are on his signature) I recommend you make yourself familiar with them - and then the little things that can cause frustration all make sense.

I recommend MQ2BST or custom macros for your beastlord... Last time I used Kiss on BL it was awful (A while ago but still), switched to MQ2Bst and he actually started to do some good damage.

I definitely also recommend doing the missions unboxed before trying to box them... Having the experience before boxing will make such a big difference.

Upgrading your INIs will also make a huge difference. Personally, I don't trust the public INIs here, most of them aren't even close to what a mediocre-raid player would use (for example: any mage using Bolt of X instead of a lower level spear).
If you don't know what to put into an ini, get into a raiding guild or try to find a PUG raid (rare these days) or something so that you can get a taste of what high-end play is like. Then, using a parser of your choice, figure out what the best players are casting, then put those spells into the ini. If you can't find a good raiding guild (or don't want to raid) get into a casual raiding guild or a raid guild that allows casuals. I can't even begin to describe how difficult it is to find good players in general chat or guilds that don't raid.

Hang in there. I have had mq2 at my disposal for several years. It wasn't until maybe 4 years ago I tried any type of mission with it. All I did was find a camp and kill kill kill. If it means anything every time we have a level increase or an expansion launch I will stay in old zones and max my aa first then sneak into newer stuff and get gear( am a loner If anymore than 7 in zone I hate it) I would never try a mission till all 6 of my toons had tier 2 or trade skill stuff. I failed Grik probably 20 times even with that gear. It was all because of settings on my toons and lack of hot buttons and mostly lack of skill on my part haha of course. I find it pretty easy now and have done it with kiss and also with Chats plugins but I still get a toon stuck or healer stuck and wipe sometimes. Big time learning curve on Mq2 and you have no other way to go but up as long as you are stubborn and take some good advice from the knowledgeable people on this site. There are a ton lol I am not one of them but I could name 10 that are active on here all the time. You will get it...you are probably closer than you think don't cut yourself short.
