Looking for something to do. Are there any missions that are easier with mq2 than others? Grikors is impossible, sorry, I must suck. Not as easy as it looks on YouTube. I was going to try trails of smoke, but toons keep getting ported on other side of the zone and not being able to come back though the gate.
I have no idea how people can keep everything tight and on point. Best I can do it pull and spank/tank. I must be doing something wrong. I am completely frustrated with this game and mq2 for sure. I should go back to the xbox.
So yea, I need something to do where not everything will start running around... thats it, what can I do, other than pull and spank.tank that does not require following and falling off cliffs because that just Fs everything up.
so first things first.
You need to assess your goals, and your ability to meet those goals.
in your other post you mentioned beast's domain, so if you're going from content like beast's domain into TBL missions or ToV missions - you're going to have some struggles.
Assuming you're in the 110-115 range (since you mentioned tbl/tov stuff). I would recommend doing a couple of things:
(this is in no way exhaustive or complete and is just my quick $.02 but hopefully, it can give you some pointers).
EverQuest is a game of inches - it takes time and there isn't a whole lot of instant-gratification and instant-unsuck.
1. set goals
- go down this list and revisit as needed
-- don't bite off more than you can chew. eq is a "long game" game... it takes time to be bringing the pain.
--- try and be patient for yourself as you work towards those goals, many people you see doing stuff have been doing this for YEARS
---- also don't sell yourself short, my toons aren't anything special - just solo group geared plebs but with some hard work, a bunch of time, and some help from folks with mq2 tips and tricks I can do all the content i have set goals to complete.
2. assess your crew
- get any tov t1 pieces you can (should be cheapish on bazaar) they are usable at 110 and blow everything else out of the water, they're awesome
-- you need to take a look at your augments for all your toons - rolling into current content with half gear and empty augments is painful.
--- Augments, mentioned in last point, but mentioned again for emphasis
---- AAs - do you, more or less, have appropriate aas for the content you're trying to do?
----- epics for toons that should still have them (sk, cleric, bard, zerk, etc) for many classes they are still very important.
3. understand how to manage your crew
- know what situations you can and can not handle - so you can set yourself up for sucess and avoid failures.
-- knowing that getting in lava/water/holes is bad - you can better setup yourself in somewhere that avoids those things.
--- practice team management - I talk about this in several of the youtube videos, but managing your team is a very under appreciated thing early on. Knowing how to adjust your team when things goes sideways is the difference between winning and losing. It is easy once you have stuff "on farm" to go in and mop it up --- but GETTING there is much harder - and it comes down to the basics.
4. do some older content which helps you get some "experience" (irl mq2 experience) under your belt
- if you're in the 110/115 range, doing EoK progression should be fairly easy for you, but still rewarding (plat, AA, maybe some gear, augments) and gives you a less threatening approach to practice the stuff in 2
5. get a friend or two - especially someone else who's boxing.
- having someone to hang with and/or learn with/from is HUGE, as you can get a diff perspective or experience base to work from.
-- there are plenty of mellow casual friendly guilds that are boxer friendly these days.
5. revisit these frequently
