I quit playing on p1999 before Velious came out, and I don't plan on playing there anymore. I have a character that I might as well sell, but I have the SMS set on the EMU site. Does this make it worthless, or is there a way to change it? Thanks

You would have to contact the admin at the emu site to see if the sms can be changed. To my knowledge, there isn't a way to change it. Usually once the sms is set, the account doesn't get purchased due to not being able to secure it.

I'm trying to figure out where the SMS verification comes into play. I'm on the EQ emulator website now. It allows me to reset the Emu password, change the email, change the actual game login server password, all without receiving any text messages. And when I click lost password it doesn't say anything about sending an SMS, just offers to send an email to the registered email on the account to reset the password. I'm just curious as to why I couldn't just sell my account to someone, and they change the email address on the emulator site. Then any attempts to reset the password would go to them. Am I missing something? Thanks.

There is no way you can change the email or SMS Phone number on your project 1999 EQemu account. Once it is done, its done.

Does it make your account worthless? No, in my opinion however, it does effect the total worth of the account since the new owner/buyer will never have 100% security of the account. So for example if the account is worth 300 with the email and no SMS set, then I would say its worth 150 without those things. That's just my opinion on going about accounts that have SMS set and no email.

EDIT: regarding the SMS #, I have tried everything myself. Even if the SMS Phone Number is, lets say, 5 years old. Even then making it very plausible that the number is deactivated or not in use anymore, they still will not change it or let you reset it. It sucks. The GM's from p99 really got their shit on lock down.

It?s kind of a catch 22, and I do not think your account is worthless. Because even though the SMS on the account is set, you need to know the EQEMU login to request a password reset via SMS. If you sell the account, and either give the buyer possession of the email you used to register the account, or he changes the default email on the account, the account is secure so long as he never clicks the ?Reset Password via SMS? button.
Any attempts by the former owner to gain access to the account will be in vain, because the buyer has the email address tied to the EQEMU login.
The only risky part is the actual transaction, the time in between when they hand you the platinum (or send the $) and when the buyer secures the EMU login with his own email address.
