Hello all,

I'm looking for some additional box suggestions.
Current toons are Pal, Necro, Shaman & Chanter,

Interested in +2 suggestions. I was thinking maybe Beast/Ranger

Goals are just group progression and general farming.

Thanks in advance!

Well, any six-box team is going to do fine for both. Might get jammed up trying to get some of the chevo's in CoV but guess you'll find out for sure later on.

Option 1: Mage x2... CWTN and Sic just launched mq2mage which will make including a pair of mages super simple and the DPS should be a welcome sight.

Option 2: Mage + Wizard... This gets you the most bang for your buck on Synergy. Should still be solid DPS ports/evac is nice.

Option 3: Zerks x2... Great DPS, More so thanks to Sham. Easy to get going and have CWTN Plugin.

Option 4: Anything else you think sounds fun. Hitting the six-box point pretty much means the whole world is open to ya.

Option 5: The total redo: Since your probably going to be leveling up two fresh toons. Why not go the distance and build the standard "Hot" group set up which would be "SK/Sham/Bard/Zerk/Zerk/Beast

I love my current team, but it's missing a porter, and as new characters, they don't have things like Steins and Bricks to click on to move to PoK, or some of the other conventional methods to get around. I find a Druid/Wizard is really nice to have.

Interesting grp setup you have....I would stick to the caster theme and do Druid Mage as your last two.

Druid gives u some backup healing power and ports and nuking. and the mage gives u pet power, Nukes and COTH

Thanks for the quick replies!

I've been trying to stay away from meta setups. And just use classes that I enjoy.
Wanted to just throw my thoughts out and see if they would be immediately shot down.

Everyone's 115 except chanter who's 106

I've been leaning towards a druid. Backup heals would definitely be helpful as I sometimes need to use a healer merc for some areas.

@Pause I don't see a valid reason this thread was deleted so I'm undeleting it.

it is pretty uncool to ask a question, have a bunch of people take time out of their day to answer you, just for it to get deleted.

Replace "slow internet" with "sub-optimal boxing group"

For the record, I was happy to see a post about a unique/non-typical boxing group. Lots and lots and lots of posts here about SK, Sham, Bard, Zerk, Zerk, Zerk... glad to hear about other class combos.

To continue the topic with you Sum1, I made a group yesterday to fill out missing classes from my raid group for funsies.

Bst / Enc / Dru / Mag / Nec / Wiz

They are ripping through mobs right now. I don't expect them to be able to do much for end game group task stuff, but for raw exp group it's fun to watch. I'm currently just using bst as a tank, but could see eventually maybe switching to having the mage pet tank when mobs start hitting harder.

So I tend to run optimal groups but my various combos all start with:

- Tank - I have all 3, some in duplicates
- Support - Ench/brd but primarily brd unless it's mage/wiz groups.
- Healer - Tend to have both shaman or cleric (I can swap in) the weaker dps groups tend to have cleric on harder stuff.

For dps my rotations are:

- 3 ber or 2 ber/bst
- 3 necro
- 3 mage
- 3 wiz
- 3 rogue
- 3 ranger
- 3 monk

The dps all play on the same 3 accounts. Mostly in ToV raid weapons/focus. As much as I like mixing groups up but when I look at how much better the rogue and ber groups are then anybody else (and wiz/ranger much worse than the others) I do see why people end up with ber or rogue more often. The dps and ease is just a massive increase over the others.

Do you have your ranger groups optimized to rotate spires and cheetah clicks? Rotating guardian / group guardian clicks? Rotating auspice casts? Are you bowing during pureshot and using 2-hander melee when pureshot isn't up (assuming you have a bard in group)? Are you spamming summers? Are you using alliance?

If you're not doing those things, then yes, the ranger group will suck. Because you aren't playing the class.

About a month ago I was in a dps group on raids where we somehow ended up with three rangers together (never happens, not sure wtf the RL was thinking). We coordinated all those things I talked about up there. We had a shammy and a bard. The three of us all were in the top 10 dps for the raid event. That's with two necros in raid and a bunch of monks, zerkers, beastlords, and a couple of rogues.

Like to see a full group of monks running mq2monk with standonfeign on. Agro be like a typical NBA game of floppin!

Rangers are the newest of the bunch so I’m still optimizing (literally last set I’ve added). From what I can tell they can have high dps Every 20 minutes. Rotate on auspice 100% and everything else youu are talking about (always 2hander) and the reason for 3 rangers was easy alliance. I’m not ready to write it off and it’s decent during discs but rogue/ber can cycle discs non stop - the inability to do that on the rangers definitely hurts (monks as well for that mater). That said give me a a but to optimize before i come to a full conclusion. It’s just funny when my ber can hit 2.5+ million on a group fight (each) and I don’t really see the other dps classes doing it. The ability to easy process alliance on rangers is nice though. Helps them some vs the monks from what I’ve seen.

I’d use a group like that (replace the ENC and maybe the Nec with PL’ees) for PL’ing.

I have returned with my original box crew of SK/CLR/Shm and have decided to run with the Bard, Zerker and Wizard. I have found the Bard does a lot more than I though she would and expect as I get more levels mez will be very useful. Zerker I have never really played before so I am learning, so far DPS seems to decent at lower level. Wizard was chosen primarily for the port to bind to help get to tasks or camps faster. As others have said i would recommend play what you find enjoyable, most classes will be viable in the group game.

I would need to know more about the pal's healing ability and what affects the patch has on him using those heals with mq2. I saw in the patch they added heal target of target to some of his spells.

Personally, I run SK/Cleric/Enc/Wiz/Mage/Zerker. I love all of them except the zerker, been thinking about swapping him out for a second mage or a necro.
I also have a ranger (on the same acct as the mage) that I was using for headshot in EoK/RoS, dps was bonkers until I got to CoV/ToV, then it kinda fell off a cliff. I do really enjoy the ranger though and the buffs are nice.
