I have two teams, they're not subtle.
Caster: Tank, cleric, druid, enc, wizzy, wizzy. I can basically lock down anything with this group. i get 100k dps out of just the druid by itself, and thanks to EoKNuke pushing my wizzies for nuking over 1m hp DD hits (in just TBM/CotF group gear no less), mobs usually melt pretty quickly.
Then I have Tank cleric, bard, zerker, zerker, and then a slot leftover for whatever DPS I'm in the mood for. I don't notice a shaman makes any notable or significance in my group at all.
My approach essentially when selecting groups, since I'm always boxing no less than 6, is hybrids are a waste of time and you need to specialize each class to perform one thing better than anyone else.
But as Warl0ck45 so accurately said, they're your characters. First and foremost, play what's fun. I can't stand necros, shamans, and rangers, but other people love them. Second, exactly what Warl0ck45 said, keep playing around and tweaking.
Running SK/Cleric/Enchanter/Zerker atm, Would I get more dps if I ran SK/Shaman/Bard/Zerker? or go SK/Cleric/Enchanter/Wizard with mercs?
I would swap the zerker for the wiz and add 2 wiz mercs for max dps. Wiz burns ftw, and its nice to chanter chromo and then mana burn if shit hits the fan and you are at the helm.
If you really want to turn up the heat, swap the Cleric for the Zerker and drop one of the wiz mercs for a cleric merc. Its been my exp in end, t2 group content a real cleric isnt necessary.
Any T2 namer I have done over and over with just 1 cleric merc. Mind you the toons should be all in T2 group gear with T2 weapons on da melees....
This using an earth pet / ranger tanking. All in just group gear and rares.
