Before Everquest, sometime after the Red Dragon BBS... I loved venturing through NeverWinter Nights on AOL. It was my connection to America while I felt so isolated at my first duty station in Korea.
Made me smile to see the vid. Love the battle and loot stuff at the end. <3🐸

I played that! 255 max players when it first came out, then they managed to up to 500 :)

Edit: and I just remembered, that's where this name came from!

Wow, you are reaching way back in the way back machine... and man, you had internet in Korea? I was in Germany in '94 and didn't have internet available

Almost all of Europe was setup with a pay per MB of data use from the early days on into at least the 2000s. I'm only guessing that Korea may not have been setup with that scheme.

I think England (or parts thereof) had the worst of it and lasted the longest.

I dont recall anything like that. I was a brand new dork in a strangers world. 4 man room and 1 phone in the hall for the whole barracks. Phone lines to rooms were brand new and I think I got lucky is all. Saved my money from AIT and bought a brand new hot 386 with built in modem... yes be jealous..built in !!!

I am a Baldur's Gate fan.
The First, second and expandion. Washington off-line but lots hours and you could import same toons to keep improving them.

Same, loved Neverwinter and Baldurs Gate - played Planescape Torment as well.

I remember when I was a youngin, getting so excited to get the AoL discs that came with dial up internet time so we could connect.

Didn’t get into big gaming until Ultima then EQ.

Yah, I beta's ultima, but soon as it went live I was ganked and corpse camped so never played again after that. Back then I spent most of my days out and about, so no way I was ever going to keep up with the players that find that sort of thing amusing, which made it not worth my time to even try :P Too bad too, I enjoyed the Ultimas, with my first being 4.

I was playing Dungeons & Dragons on Sega Genesis and Ultima on SNES. And of course all the Final Fantasy games and their knockoffs like Luna and Lunar.
