Question - Balancing hdex/hstr for max DPS?

I hear two competing theories for maximizing a Rogue's DPS.

1. Focus only on hdex and max out your accuracy
2. Balance hdex and hstr

Has anyone done any tests or have the actual formulas used to calculate damage output that can give a definite answer?

you'll end up with like 2k hstr anyhow going full hdex, but hstr is poo

looking at some profiles, it appears some are going hstr once they get the 2600 range, which i'm curious because they're reaching a maximum point of return in accuracy (which again full hdex going to like 3k+ would takes you to like 2k str anyhow =p so still don't see the point)


i'd love to see some math supporting hstr, but i've yet to see anything

Well, if you can't hit the next plateau after 2600, then it makes sense to shift points to another stat that still has benefit. It seems that Heroic Strength has no "cap" in that every 10 gives another +1 on the top of the melee hit. So, while small, it's better than > 100% accuracy.

What I get from these 2 posts reguardless of the pure math is <=100% crit chance = Moar HDex => 100% crit chance pick something else. I was looking for the math posts I've seen in the past but iirc it was along the lines of 1dmg per HStr watermark, what ever that watermark is and where that 1dmg gets factored into the damage calculation is beyond me. So unless War or Zerker I'd say check your Crit chance as you add new augs once you hit 100% Crit move to something else I guess.

as pointed out, the *gates* can be pretty far apart, so instead of hanging out 70 from HDEX, get a HSTR gate? not sure. I got all 3 rogues the new HDEX, and are at 3k (lil more) each.. cant say DPS is higher? but to burnt out on missions to go get them HSTR to compare...

I reached on a raid, full burn mode 6119 Dex, Im missing 1 of the new Hdex T7 and do not have nearly a complete set of the New T5 Hdex, I'm parsing in the top 5 of our raids consistently, With all the ADPS classes in my group... Hdex,Hdex,Hdex.....
