Discussion - Anyone Playing on "Test" Server?

I have to ask, why no bard in group 10? Does this cause complications?

I started Raid 2 to progress from scratch...NO massive PL - raiding Vox/Naggy/Fear/Hate/Sky
And while I didn't do much power levelling - I did have 9 Bards created to use the AE song from level 1

The Early raids didn't have a 54 limit - so I actually have about 59 toons in my lower lvl raid. (Currently doing POP)

I expect my toons will change as levels raise. I might convert some Clerics to Shammies, and I'll probably add a druid and Ranger for buffs later down the road, and I'll end up with only 7 Bards.

I dont usually run my Tank Groups with a bard

What is a Bard going to add? Bard AC and Haste...is not really needed at lvl 125 raiding.

The main reason to play full-time on Test server?

You can take an extended break like I did, for about a year. Come back, and all my characters are still Gold status without ever having to worry about sub prices or krono. This is the best reason ever.

Plus there are many other bonuses to playing there, already mentioned above. I would never go back to Live after experiencing on Test. Even as an F2P player and only playing when expansions are released, all of the bonuses are worth their weight in gold IMHO.

I can already see this. It's so nice, not worrying about which toons are expiring soon, and which ones I should pony up the cash to keep gold, ect. Now I have paid for 6 accounts and 6 expansions for those accounts. However, it's very likely, I'll never spend another dime on EQ. Just going to play what's available here moving forward.

When you are able to get your crew set up to run mostly F2P, the expansions just seem all the more in-reach, in my opinion.

The savings in Krono will likely more than cover a groups worth of expansions.

Edit: and on Test, those savings are permanent, so

my thinking was traveling purposes. Lack of selo's on one group... double invis etc.

On an EMU server is my biggest squad (PEQ) And i believe had about 42 charters. Each group had 1 bard, and 1 Wiz, and 1 Heal. Mostly clerics ( i was still learning and trying to master the out of group heals.. but felt safer with one per group), but some druid and shaman for buffs.

But this gave me Selo's travel song for all, and an Evac in each group. I did also do a lot of Wiz / Mage so that I could level up with some PB AoE spells. I don't even remember how i set it up.. (as it's been so long and i'm just getting warmed up to the idea of starting back) But i would pull 1/3 of a zone ,hit a button, and then they would all die. (I believe I had 4 enchanters for Stuns)

I started this thread a couple years ago, and I wanted to re-visit it. I'm curious if anyone is still playing on TEST in 2026 and if so, how's things going over there?

I’m thinking of coming back , haven’t played the last 2 expansions and have since gotten a new computer and don’t have access to my UIs so mostly debating on if I really want to take the time to set up my toons lol

I recently came back, have messed around on FV just alt tab boxing my BST/BRD combo ( my 2 oldest accounts ). I got them to 130 fairly easily, did the first stage of the Mask quest, did a lot of named hunting ect.. Recently decided I want to get a team back up and running, which hopefully doesn't end in another ban. I did deleted some characters a while back to get my 100 boost back to start on a fresh server. This was last year and i got suspended again, a couple bans. I just got to thinking, i could copy my BST/BRD over to Test and I still have a 125 Mag there and I think a 125 SHM too that was copied. So I would have BST/BRD/SHM/MAG there. I'm petitioning again for like the 10th time to try and get my 125 Pally back, which is also on TEST. Just thought I would ask around if anyone is still there doing anything. Worst case, I might have to give up my 130 BST for the 116 SK thats on that same account to have a tank. Which would have me starting on Test with a 116 SK, 130 BRD, 125 Mag, 125 SHM.

just fyi - if this turns into a "baspend discussion" it'll get locked/fippys/merged/whatever.

I play on test and all was well till this patch now I can’t play cause any time you hit tab it borks the layout and locks up says you can't use full screen anymore

I suppose I'll just have to check it out, and see what characters I have there to work with and then see if I can remember how to switch redguide over to test as well lol.

Haven't set up MQ2 for test, but logged in and copied bst and brd. So I'm working with 125 Pally! 125 Shm 130 BST and 130 Brd. Pretty solid group right? Add cleric and dps mercs.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. Already have some Pally heals too. Better off with 2 rogue mercs.
I'm sure you're aware but test gets bonus xp so leveling up new chars is less of a chore. Coupled with free gold accounts, can pretty easily get much better from a bot than a junk Merc.

Test is also very friendly with giving away XP pots and adding players to a group for group pots to level even faster.

I still play on FV when I play. Although I'm playing some on a different live server . FV just has a better ruleset. But I may play on Test I've always wanted to.

Test is a great server with a pretty solid player base. It's a great way to "test" different player combos in a group without having to sub each account. There is a permanent 100% XP boost on the server. Be aware that there will be a significant amount of MQ downtime. There is also no player economy due to the ability to Test Copy, which removes greed from the equation.

chiming in here again and still standing behind what i said previously. test is wonderful, but the turd in the punchbowl is the downtime. don't come to test expecting to be able to play on a regular schedule. if it patches the wait for a build can be lengthy sometimes. it all depends on how much work is required from the great brainiac and co. to work there skillset magics !!!!

there is a fairly large MQ community on the server but it is a don't ask don't tell policy (when the build is down gen chat sits around 100-150 people ... with a build it sometimes spawns a second gen chat). previous posts in page one speak of a raidcopy service from FV etc it is now defunct so bring what you can copy from wherever you plan on moving from.

the perks are all still there like xp bonus and being able to trial a lot of the paid plugs etc available here.

as for raiding guilds there are a couple that state no automation etc (that being said i've seen those guilds with members running it). an important point was brought up earlier in the thread regarding safety and not discussing MQ in tells and to use discord instead this is 1000% important in my opinion. test being a small server population wise means rep is still important, and the non box community consists of a high concentration of karens so i highly suggest you never play unattended.

wish you all the luck in your test adventures i still play there 100% of the time and love it just be sure to wear patience pants as downtime can be much higher compared to live.

In closing please don't ask about joining up with myself or other folks on the server it has proven to be bad juju in the past =)

I switched to playing on Test about 5 years ago as my playtime went down to 4-5 hours a week and it was not worth paying for 6 full accounts.

With my reduced play time it takes me a while to get through each expansion so I only buy the latest expansions every 2 years. There is no need to rush and I always have content to work through.

I find Test a very relaxed atmosphere and there are a lot of friendly people that help on tasks and give away a lot of gear / loot that I would not normally see on live servers.

My main toons on live have not progressed pass ToL and the only thing I miss from live are some old friends that still play in my old guild (I still post on old guild forums but just to keep in touch)

This sounds pretty perfect to me. When there is MQ2 downtime, that feels like a good time or opportunity to just box, work on something else, like tradekills for the new Mask quest, or whatever else might need some work. I see right now that I cannot patch Redguides for Test, I'm assuming this is the issue your speaking of.

This is me, I might have a week where i can play 16 yours, might have a week where I can't play at at all. I buy the expansions that have level increases. Right now I only have the new one for 2 of the 4. I'm debating on buying 2 more. I do kind of want to work on hunter and gear for my Pally in the new expansion, so I probably will end up purchasing it.

This is exactly what I do. Inventory management, trade skills, or farm something else on a live server to transfer, if you can't find it elsewhere already.

Im assuming raid gear is pretty much all going to be no-drop on test? So trying to transfer anything new for the Pally at this point wont be possible? Like a set of 125 Raid 8/8 , and 1h weapon and shield.

Yeah raid gear is no drop. People offer up free sets of the new 130 group gear which has 16402hp on the pally BP so it is pretty nice.

I could easily transfer the Mats for the T1 armor to get the Pally started and then start farming the T2 as I progress. I think I'll buy the Exp for Pally, which will give me 3 characters with SOR. This would give me Pal/Brd/Bst + heal merc, 2 x dps mercs to go through the group content with. Probably add the expansion to the SHM later. I would think this trio could get a lot done.

I'm strongly leaning toward starting on Test as a new player, but it seems like MQ availability on Test is kinda off-and-on a lot of the time.

I'm trying to see if I can get Boxcar working in a headache-free way to play when MQ isn't updated.

EDIT: I started on Test once MQ was updated. It worked great for five days but then Test patched again. So now I'm trying to figure out what to do. Maybe I can practice developing my patience skills and just resign myself to only playing EQ when MQ works on Test? I was also considering cutting back my 6box team to a 3box core and using mercs - that way I can use MQ when it's working, but when it isn't, I can still manage manually 3boxing with Boxcar (a nice free alternative to ISboxer).
