Question - Anyone else find themselves waffling between "favorite" classes? (3 Viewers)

Since I've come back to the game, I find myself waffling between my "favorite" classes, just like I did in the old days :) One big difference this time around is that personas make it simpler and less painful since I don't have to repeat quests and achievements (unless I just want to). PAL/SK is the big one for me. I love playing both of them, really. While I am playing one of them, I am always comparing how the other one would handle whatever situation I am in better. I end up trying to convince myself the class I'm *not* playing is better until I switch personas and the madness begins again ><

How many of you suffer from this "affliction", and which classes do you waffle between?

I've done enough testing between PAL & SHD that I've come to the conclusion that PAL is better, and always has been the better tank than SHD, for 2 reasons.
1. Rez since Classic. Lotta people think you need a cleric in those early days, nah. Just use a paladin.
2. Act of Valor. Shadowknights are supposed to be the ruler of death but can't even kill themselves smh. I will forever be in debt to the paladins who have done a raid saving Act of Valor.
That said, I have mained most classes. Tanks are by far the most fun lol.

I don't like driving my paladin(s), but i think they are severely underrated. the threat you can get by using the splash heal is gnarly. they're incredible PL toons, and can easily pl 5 shitters and having a rez is nice instead of an sk/clr or sk/merc

I love my rogue. I played one early game and just love it. But my Bard is just so much more fun. I always found myself defaulting to Bard instead of Rogue.

I can NOT drive a PAL. Drove me nuts. I'd rather drive Nec and have the Pal on assist/tank mode.

I prefer waffles over pancakes also.

I have never really "waffled" between tanks, but I do have this tendency with dps classes.
Monk has always been a long time staple for me personally, but lately I have parked the monk in favor of ranger...
The head-shotting exp for the entire group is insane and always fun to watch.
Same thing with my poor Berserker, 130 and AA capped but Decapitation AA seems to have really fallen off in SoR compared to ranger's Headshot line.
So berserker sits there, collecting dust in favor of a Beastlord who brings more group synergy to the team, which works great so far.
Don't have any personas as of yet, but have used all the freebie 110 boosts to form a new crew...
that is Pally, Druid, Enchanter, Wizard, Mage and Rogue. I do love Paladin, super underrated like Sic was saying. Almost slept on really how good pally actually can be in the right hands. But for my money, SK is the king in group situations.
I will always choose the SK to drive with for the simple fact they are an S-tier puller, and with cooldowns available I have survived so many "oh shit" situations with SK that would crumple my pally or warrior to dust in the same gear.

It really depends what you mean favorite classes. I used to be best as a Shammy. Now my best solo class is Mage and my best raid class is Necro.

I don't do personas I just made extra accounts. LoL. I think in some situations the Pally stun is an advantage as is their undead AA, in some cases the damage from Harmtouch or sucking the life out of a foe into you is a total advantage.

I am always in a toss-up on DPS class that I want to play. Love the rogue for walking past basically any mob, but getting to flop around on my monk is a win.

Used to love my Pally but am full beans for SK tanking now and might never change that.

I haven't ever really had this issue... I mained paladin for a while on live and test servers.. I recently switched to sk and I dont think id go back.. I love paladins and have nothing against them just seems the dps a sk can do is far superior I could be wrong on this.. but there are plenty of classes I wanna try and play just to find a better solo able class but the play styles of some classes are just inferior to that of tanks.. like id probably find better playability from a 130 mage compared to a 105.. or so.. maybe even a necromancer I just have never gotten 1 that high.. plus I think persona does help but who wants to pay $25 per slot

I hear that.

I mained a ranger. Yeah. Really. First character in EQ in ‘99.

Swapped to an SK. Alt tabbed a Necro. My three favorite classes. I flip flop among them as driver.

Undead mobs. It's not even close. Lol

Mages are shockingly good solo. probably the least gear dependent class, too... Outside of the most expensive item on live servers lol (EM Ear)

Nothing wrong with ranger.. solid dps class especially if using headshot as quoted above .. zerker decapitate seems lack luster in comparison now... haven't really tested rogue assassinate recently but headshot is killing it right now.. what is the different feel when using a tank and a cadtrr vs tank melee?

I agree against undead they are way more OP.. seems that as new expansion releases the amount of undead got slimmer...I loved tov because it was all undead.. paladins dominated that expansion. Idk might give paladin a try again lol

Recommendations on mage? Maybe I just wasn't doing it right...

I like so many classes, but to claim favorites, need to know for what.

For soloing, I like the mage, In groups I like single playing Bez or rouge. For boxing I like warrior and shaman combo with added DPS. For raiding, I like a bard.
