Teek was my first TLP and it was pretty awesome. The need for MQ in the early expansions isn’t as important as it is in the Live game. Life was so much simpler back then lol. Had a blast in both the original zones and Kunark. Velious was pretty good too and brought back a lot of the late 90s nostalgia. Finished my epic and completed all of the raids to date.

The excitement is certainly starting to wane though in Luclin. Been back on live and things get complicated quick, boy did I miss the intricacies of 6 boxing. The need for MQ is apparent, even for a single toon on Live. I’m thinking I’m done with Teek with the next expac on the near horizon. It was fun while it lasted!

One last note, the TLP community is strange. It is a way more intense group, when compared to Live servers, that knows each of these expansions like the back of their hand. The wheeling and dealing is a bit overwhelming and the number of power levelers is incredibly frustrating (not just in zones but the chat spam is insane). Due to the PL spam there basically isn’t a general channel to chat with fellow players. It makes the server feel extremely cut throat, which it is, even though there are helpful players around. This was a huge negative of the server but felt worth it for the first couple of expansions.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

The nostalgia on one's first TLP is pretty awesome, I had that experience on phinny and quite enjoyed my time there. I'm not sure I could do the classic > PoP again though as its a bit too bare bones for me these days.

Yeah I agree. The complexity of live makes the experience of playing so much more fulfilling. Casting a couple of spells with auto attack on in classic gets old quick. Even the raids were mostly tank and spank. It will probably be a while, if ever, before I try a TLP again. With that said, I did enjoy it while it lasted.

TIL that the real reason TLPs die is people miss MQ too much
Yes and no. Other than movement and maps MQ isn’t really needed on TLPs since it is much simpler to play versus live.

More like, TLP die because basic combat and progression is pretty boring in earlier expansions.

I tired TLP once. Got halfway out of Qeynos Hills after creating a Ranger and had a few guild invites already which was cool. Traveled around a bit but it seemed to be like slogging thru molasses just to kill a little level 1 mob.

Picked up my original Ranger on live, discovered merc's and all the other great improvements and never went back to TLP.

So I think TLP are great for those who want to interact with other players, go at a crawl, etc. But it did not seem like it was reliving the original game. Or the original game was far worse than I remembered.

I will stick to me, myself and I. We make a great group, everyone shows up, pulls thier weight, wants to do the same thing I do, pays attention etc. Just that one paladin but that is his own fault he got benched and replaced with a Beastlord.

The reliance on me, myself, and I is pretty damn nice. The number of times someone just went on an extended AFK in group at a camp was infuriating.

When Oakwynd was released, I made characters there. I only played on it because it was said to be like the original days. I was disappointed because it was not like the original. It took me over 3 months to realize you could use the marketplace and buy bags, pots, and more. You could use the trade skill depot and hoard banking. Being able to use all the perks ruined it for me. The nail in the coffin was when the economy collapsed. I left and never looked back. I was using MQ but was suspended twice in a little time. I am sure I would have been banned the next time. That is why I used new accounts and not my older accounts. I liked the FTE on Oakwynd but it had some bad mechanics. Teek's ruleset is good but not being able to use MQ is a no go for me.

I'm with her on this one. I actually have toons on 2 accounts on Teek. But I've been there and done that. I am ready for some new content. A new challenge.

ive played on every tlp cycle from rizlona to oak to atleast velious some to pop mischief and riz im still playing on. mostly to sell clr epics to get kr to fund my rizlona toons. early tlps die because the larger tlp population only cares about rerolling onto the new server until ldon is out. they dont want complicated dpsing or real raid mechanics they also want the social experince that comes with being one of the most populated servers so thats what they do.

but judging tlps on that era is bad the real fun of a tlp is tss-rof/cotf they remove truebox which should allow mq to be used in tbs so you miss tss in era but it gives you time to level and gear up your 6 find a guild who preferably lets you box your 6 for sof and beyond. if you dont want to raid its also just in time for an actual group game. its also when cwtn plugins start to insanely outdo kiss inis because they have most of their abilities

i also dont get everyone on teek crying about the tower. the real op era of tower is 105. you hit 105 in tds in tds every single peice of gear is tbm t1 raid quality. they also have slot 5s already so you go into tbm with a bunch of slot 5s. we rotted most off slot peices of gear in tds and i still would rather of had tower then not.

alot of people who stick around past pop were mqers and i think oaks pop would be a decent bit higher if they still had mq. mischief got a big influx of boxers when the tlp mq change went through.
