I know this is a controversial subject, but I do enjoy playing EQ as an 'idle game' which means heavy afk botting. Don't hate me. I just really enjoy the idea of setting up a nice camp where I can dial in the scripts and pull while completely afk, maybe checking in every few horus. This has kind of become the game for me now.

Anyway, I don't want to be a douche and do this where it's not welcome. I was trying Project Lazarus a bit and it seems cool, but I don't want to get too far into something I can't play sustainably in this manner. Just wondering if there's anywhere I can do this with people who get it, or do I need to make my own private server to indulge my automation dreams?
 
Just spin up your own EMU.. couple guides out for it, and few of the people here can help i bet.. then do whatever you want, your own server.. :dance:
 
I think even if you did find said server there would be a higher chance of someone being in a camp you want, you know, because afk.

If so you guys couldn't even be like "hey my dude, you want in? I'ma go get some lunch, all yours" etc, you know, cuz afk

I wouldn't recommend Proj Laz for AFK. GM's do not take kindly (nor the community). But I do agree, it is a great server, lots of friendly folks and very active / new content being released on a regular basis.
 
Aegis of Norrarh, give it a shot! We are only on luclin right now, and the limit is 18 characters. Good growing community though. Just hit 60 on my squad.
 
I am going to second The Convergence. It is owned run by someone older MQ users know.

It is a custom TLP with many QoL features. It’s hosted on a dedicated server. Currently around 700 accounts with no lag.

Convergence was launched 8-8-2024. Kunark launch zerker and bst are open on launch. There are some additional files located in the discord channel.

Rob. I started last night. Woke up to lvl 15 and still going. Pretty freaking cool. I never AFK'd before so it was a new exp. My wife even commented how I was a lil too giddy this morning .
 
My friend wants it because he has a toddler and raising the toddler has to be his priority. So AFK EQ for long periods of time is just how he has to play. And it's become the way he wants to play. While everyone else is looking to join a raid guild once a week. Sell of our box toons, he is looking for a place that accommodates him.
 
When it comes to afk and mq2 not to many emul servers allow it. My server profusion I got the rule of thumb of I allow players to play how they enjoy the game. If that's at the PC on 1 char cool. If that's at the PC with 500 chars cool. If its afk while running around town or at work cool. We have a instancing system for this very reason to ensure those who play normal can not have people overlap them in content they are clearing to.

Project lazarus is a great server also but staff there is not to friendly with afk like stuff. Understandable. Just gotta find one that works for ya.
