AmericanNero submitted a new resource:

AKA: Also KissAssist - It's KissAssist, and some more.

Getting Started

/mac aka\alsokissassist <same ka options>

AKA has been built and tested with MQNext.

The aim of AlsoKissAssist (AKA) is to build upon KissAssist and make EverQuest even more enjoyable. The documentation at www.kissassist.com covers the lion's share of features, and AKA behaves as KA 12 does but with refinements. Example: Your characters will no longer attempt to mount up when very drunk.

The transition to AKA is fairly...

The transition to AKA is fairly painless and preserves your current Ini files. They are *not* disturbed.

Painless, thank you

You can now manually pull and the characters (and you) will continue to behave like mercs. This is a step toward being able to raid with AKA in a relatively discrete fashion. If you have attempted to, you will have no doubt noticed that it has been a challenge to always attack the correct target...let alone not try to attack groupmate.

That's huge!

I haven't tried this yet but I'm really looking forward to offtanking.

This seem like a huge leap in KA even at group level let alone assists in raiding. I will be moving to MQNext very soon and i am excite to try this. Thank you!

I will also probably have lots of questions as I test or setup. Just an FYI lol

I've switched to using AKA and it was a painless migration. The only change I have made so far is to setup my mage as PetOffTank and included the pet tweaks shown in the overview section.

The mage reclaim energy and pet toys handling works really well, a big improvement on KA12 :). I've run AKA for about 4 hours (mainly doing CoV/ToV missions) and so far it has worked with no issues.

I just need some more free time to play with the new features but so far I am really pleased with this update 👍

I am having a few problems. I am having issues getting this to go to the launcher. I have clicked Watch in the Resource menu (not watch on the discussion thread) but I will not go to the launcher. Is there a delay? I downloaded the files and extracted to the mq2 macros directory with a subfolder. When i start the macro it says it is creating an ini and placing it in the chars folder but nothing is written.

I am sure I am doing something wrong. could anyone point me in the right direction?

Just curious. I followed the instructions for running this in MQ2 but i cannot get it to save an ini. It tells me where to look, but it will not populate in that location

On MQ2, it is necessary to manually create the server subdirectory. The script inside chars will give you the server short name. MQNext creates the directory for you. If you are just copying INI files over, you'll need to manually create the subdir.

The install docs have been clarified.

AmericanNero updated AKA: Also KissAssist with a new update entry:

Bugs and enhancement

1) XTarget heal and rez functionality should be in good working order.

2) Buffs with |Pet tag will no longer buff the buffer.

3) Warders are now recognized and given mage toys, like all pets should.
- To employ the automatic pet toy equip system, enable [Pets] ProvidePetToys in your mage INI, and RequestPetToys in your other pet users INI. The requestor will broadcast for pet toys whenever they make a new pet. This is very handy when used with PetSuspend. The request will be made once a...

AmericanNero updated AKA: Also KissAssist with a new update entry:

Update

1) Relaxed pre-pull group check. No need to check for corpses and wait for res if you are trying to fight your way back to them...
- You can pull singles by setting "PullManual=1" in your INI, then /pull. Your characters will still behave like mercs as always.

2) Needed to set a default for a pet variable so pet-challenged characters don't have a hissy fit on startup.

If you are using petofftank, taunt is disabled until someone calls out for help. After the battle, then taunt is turned off. I need to improve documentation.

Edit: I see what you are saying now. How odd, probably related to the changes I made yesterday. Will update and repost.

On hunter pettank id assume you want taunt on at all times, regardless of settings in the INI, since its a tank. With hunter mode, you'd want it configurable with ini?

Edit: I added hunterpettank to the default that enables taunt. I was mistaken about the INI. You can disable taunt for all roles when "PetAllowTaunt" is disabled.

AmericanNero updated AKA: Also KissAssist with a new update entry:

Updates

1) Bards will once again sit during med if TwistMed has one song. When med ends, the bard will stand but keep singing the med song(s).

2) HunterPetTank's now have fulltime pet taunt enabled as is the case with pettank and pullerpettank.

4) /pet stop doesn't play nicely with lower level pets because they lack regroup. It has been disabled for now as it interfered with /pet back off.

Clarifying pet taunt variables:
PetTauntOn=0/1 - Pet taunt will be disabled or enabled on start. You...

AmericanNero updated AKA: Also KissAssist with a new update entry:

Updates

1) Mez is now working properly (amazing what quotations can do). Bards now run around mezzing up a storm on all mobs.

2) Ninjadvloot is back. INI LootOn is back in [General]. Loot.ini lives in the MQNext /config directory, and MQ2 users will find it in /macros.

3) /kissedit is back. It will point to correct file location on MQNext as well as MQ2.

Started to migrate. Looks very promising to me.
All the mage-specific stuff is really a great improvement.
Have done just shaman dps ini so far. Todo: shm-full heal and shm-50/50
Tomorrow I'll merge a whole group of shd, shm, Brd, mag, mag, nec to aka
Once done, I'll report back.

What looks like a great improvement for me is the OT and specific the PetOfftank role.
Even a Shm-pet can save a casters butt with his pet jumping in to attract a mob away from a caster ... even if it might not last long it might be long enought to get an ot to catch the mobs attention.
From what I could read in the Overview I am very exited ...

Seems to be a nice upgrade

I switched over to using aka this evening. It seems to be going well, however I have gotten an error a few times. I am running aka on my Wizard. Here is the error.

This pauses the macro and I have to end and restart to get the wizard running again.

with the offtank, what is the best way to have it taunt? the pets are taunting during a rescue but the bots are not taunting. sorry if noob question on this one

AmericanNero updated AKA: Also KissAssist with a new update entry:

Update

1) PetAllowTaunt is now defined for non-pet wranglers that might have familiars.

2) XTarHeal, XTarHealList are renamed to XTarWatch, XTarWatchList, and a new var XTarWatchTargets. These live in [General].

3) New command, /watch, is provided to manage XTarget on the fly. Use /watch to get instructions. The gist is /watch on, /watch targets 2|Name1|Name2|Name3..., /watch list 2|3|4... The pets of PC's are watched, too. You may watch PC, Merc, Pets, and NPCs directly. The settings are...

There are not enough redcents for me to send your way today. I will be sending as many as I can when I can, because this is really well done.

Great updates coming through on this one. Really curious to see where you take this.

I'd written a novella on offtanking. I'll spare ye my brain droppings.

@Kasino7 suggested that when a plate wearer grabs aggro, pets stop taunting. I think having pets relinquish aggro is a fine idea, and it could be an option. My gut tells me that if there are more than a couple mobs, that might overwhelm the fleshbot if they aren't all that beefy yet. Other factors could come into play such as the level of the plate wearer. Maybe other things I haven't thought of. It should be configurable.

There is a sub in AKA called GetTheLooseMob. This is called following an event triggered by the hapless PC that is being beaten on. GetTheLooseMob gets the action going and then MitigateAggro is called. In the event an add comes, or aggro was lost on extra mobs, MitigateAggro serves to get mobs slowed and debuffed right away. Originally I had thought to also allow for a melee class to do a special action. However this is re-inventing the wheel. There already is an [Aggro] section in the INI, and routines that allow chars to manage their aggro was the original goal. However what we need is for characters to selectively generate hate. For example, an offtank role must not take aggro from the MT unless worse case scenario occurs, but we still want it to change targets and taunt to be on top of aggro.

1) Add a parameter that stops pet taunt if a fleshy tank takes aggro. Extend this option to PC's as well.

2) GetTheLooseMob forces characters that have RescueCharsOn to target and engage the mob. At that point [Aggro] routines should take over. This could be implemented by having INI configured to generate hate (even rangers!), but that those aggro gain abilities / spells would only be allowed to trigger when a rescue was needed. Aggro generation is stopped when a real tank takes aggro/starts hitting the mob. Something like that...

Ideas welcome.

Here's how I kind of envisioned it; bare in mind the model is based off of Kiss, which received a massively needed changeover when you took apart and re-ordered and aligned things. This is coming from a Rizlona experience, where Raids are often blended by boxers, and multiple people potentially using different platforms.

I believe the user should be able to define when they are in an offtank role ( offtank and petofftank ). The roles should be very similar to an assist role in that it will assist the tank if:
-Another plate class is tanking mobs 2-X
-Mobs 2-X are mezzed or rooted in a spell that isn't their own (to make for pet exceptions where pet roots are turned on [Beastlords Hobble of Spirits])

During the 'Verify Target' phase of the macro, the tank role (tank, huntertank, etc) is the first up who scans the battlefield for an appropriate target. The offtanks could be placed in right after in the routine, to do the exact same scans, but ignoring the first mob.

In the combat routine, if the role were offtank or petofftank, conditions could be placed to verify if the target of their pet is targeting them, or another plate/pet. In either of these circumstances, they would be instructed to turn taunt off, back off, and proceed to verify target. This check could also be part of the GetTheLooseMob, or wherever the flow natural depicts.

The whole idea I had proposed is that the user (you) control who to set in offtank role (or offtankpet). These guys are rescue guys for the raid/group itself. This would allow the human controlled players to still work their magic, pick up mobs, etc etc.
