Not sure if the stars alligned but got Grolik to 0 % in 10-11s on the first engage before submerge and it went straight to p3 and had Grolik just pop one more time before poofing for good.
Doing 6-7m dps or so burn would imagine with the fire proc from the fire aura this is very easy to do now to skip the annoying part of the mission.

yeah he used to do that before they changed - wonder if he got rolled back or what - good news for big burning tho

You get it when you touch the fire aura. However, doing so will also result in getting the fire punishment, so keep that in mind. Most people who do the mission completely avoid touching the auras so it's not widely known. The other auras also have a benefit to having touched them, but none as useful as the fire DD proc. They're not much use in the mission, but in the raid, they're vital to a successful win.
 
Yep raid it's required for aura usually do hundreds of millions in dmg from 10-20 fire procs one shoting the guardians and helping push grolik to dead. Super easy to over do it on grolik and spawn multiple add waves. i got shot down when trying to suggest getting everyone the fire buff and turn atk on at the same time on grolik to one shot him dead to skip p2.

I did max echo cheevo and SK tank had the fire buff on and 1 shot grolik where it happened like above aary came down killed her quick with burn made grolik submerge one more time at 80% and he poofed for good when aary flew away and he submerged again.
My max echo attempts have mostly been good need to glyphx2 and run 2 healers using events to move my guys to the auras, dance my sk in and out of fire and keeping healers in place.
I have to adjust some things on SK on the fly like put in no dmg primary, turn off pet, take off ds and adjust my life tapping during the 15 mins or so to get to 5 stacks to not push aary to 60% to start p2.
Even then pretty dicey dmg is so spikey on my SK who is mostly raid geared, max aa and type5 heroic dex still needs some work on type 8's for like 5-10slots

As others have said, this mechanic is critical to the raid.... especially when it comes to getting guardians and grolik down. If you aren't using the fire procs you're messing up.

Someone correct me, but I thought there's a limited number of procs for each run into the aura. So, one person can't run into the aura and spam nuke grolik until its fuckin dead.

Yeah, I think it's just 1 charge.

Thats what I thought, too, but I didn't want to say that and sound dumb :) I'm usually preoccupied with tanking shit, so I don't bother with the fire procs.
 
Using the max-echo strat I posted in a different thread, I have a much faster way (at least for me) to run this.
  • I activate Aary, put him to 70-80% hp then hold until auras appear.
  • Then go get fire aura (on 1 or however many characters you want).
  • Push aary to 60 to make him fly up and Grolik spawn
  • Go kill 1-shot Grolik with the fire empowered person(s).
  • Finish Aary
No orbs or guardians spawn. Just move when the fire penalty goes out (drops a big fire aura on ground).

Tank 400k HP buffed, 9200AC, Full tier 3 CoV MAx aa. Zerker Tier 3 CoV weapons and armor, tier 2 ToV everywhere else max aa's same for Rogue and beast, brd tier 2 cov armor tier 3 weapons, cleric tier 2 ToV, cleric 280k hp, rest 310-330k. Wiped 12 times in all as waited between each wipe for disks to come up. Orbs just destroy me, even logged in my shammy instead of beast for ae root, and orbs got los and move so fast they killed him before it went off. logged now, 5 hours in aary instance, 12 or 13 wipes, 3% level gone. Need a break for a few hours.

Warrior (Tank),Shaman,Monk,Rogue,Cleric and SK(DPS) - I tank the orbs the whole fight and follow the rest of the instructions Sic has laid out above..... Don't win every attempt, but more often then not I win on the 2nd or 3rd try.... I have never won without the two healers, obviously theres a loss of dps but many times its a cluster fuck and I need battle rezzes.

This is my method of winning as well.

5 minutes to win the whole thing

There are 4 different event messages, luckily they all begin with
"You hear a distant roar"

If you go that route, use the exact quote text because if you add a space, then you have a 1/4 chance of it not going off.
Roar of Shadow is "You hear a distance roar, [words]" where the other 3 Roars have no comma.

Based on the timing, since you say you waited for the fire aura, I'm going to guess that you got the Roar dot landing on your group. There is always a Roar that hits zonewide and happens a bit after the auras despawn. If you are not actively group healing, it will wipe your group out.

I just started playing again recently and I'm doing all of these for the first time now. I did this this way today after banging my head against the wall accidentally dragging orbs through auras on my first attempts.

My first attempt this way went poorly as I didn't realize how much damage my toon that was getting the aura buff was going to take from the other damage in the event, and I had her way too far away from the healers.

Second attempt I set up my entire group near the fire aura area. Left my bard with KA turned off just sitting around, and had my warrior activate Aary and pull him over to that area. Beat him down fairly slowly (stopped DPSing for a bit around ~70%). Aura popped and I tabbed over and ran the bard to it (maybe could have just stood in it from the start, but I wasn't sure if it was going to take damage). Beat Aary down until he flew away, then ran everyone over to Grolik and one-shot him with the bard. Aary came back down and burned him down until he flew away the final time.
 
Are u wearing raid gears or just group gears??
i have no raid gear - I'm not even fully group gear'd (as in, don't fully have the best augs or my typs 5s all maxed out, i don't have AP, missing tons of Hero's AAs etc) :)
 
Does the one shot trick with the fire proc still work? It has been either a hit or miss for me so I'm not too sure what I'm doing wrong.

It matters what class you use for the fire proc, iirc. In other words, if you have a toon with a worn fire mod and crit modifiers, use that one. Mages, wizards, rangers are usually decent options.

I keep dying to "Burnt echoes", 300K dot, what am I doing wrong (trying to to the fireproc thing)?

sounds like the fire trap. The toon or toons you have with the highest “echo of flame” (or is it fire? I forget) will drop a damage aura when the fire trap happens. It can be nasty if you’re also taking other dots/damage. And if you have multiple toons sharing the highest echo number you’ll get multiple damage auras stacked on top of each other (ouch).
 
I am not sure if my group just has terrible luck, but we always get both the Roar AE and Temple AE at the same time which results in damage that I cannot heal through with both a cleric and druid in group.

The parse below shows the last round of damage from "Heart of the Temple" on our second run yesterday and it is the same on the previous run. I even changed my Cleric to start using HoT spells but it isn't enough to mitigate over 400k aoe damage in a 6s span. I am thinking I could put alliance on with the druid and cleric for additional splash heals but it seems excessive compared to any posts I've seen regarding this mission. Of course the timing on this lines up with the guardian and orbs coming active to add to the chaos.

At this point I am planning on just getting to 120 and hoping the added dps will get through this mission...

Yes, you're almost surely going to get double DOT'd at least one time in this mission. It's just something you have to figure out how to deal with. Use Geomantra and w/e spell shielding buffs you might have. Can also save cleric celestial regeneration and the druid counterpart for those times that you get both dots together.

If you're not already, make sure to toss the clerics alliance buff about - your Druid will trigger it for extra free AE healing
